Proforma for submission of proposal under the scheme SEMINAR, SYMPOSIUM AND WORKSHOP GRANT The scheme provides financial assistance to institutions for organizing Symposium / Conference / Seminar / Workshop at National and International level in various fields of Technical Education. The Scheme intends to promote high standards in Technical Education by way of extending opportunities to the academicians and working professionals by providing a forum for sharing their knowledge, experiences, innovations and inventions. Preference shall be given to topics of interdisciplinary nature, emerging and thrust areas in Technical Education. In case of registered professional society etc., the proposals would be considered provided the Organizer involves any University or Technical Education Institute, since AICTE can place funds only at the disposal of Technical Education Institutions, Colleges or Universities. Abstract Clinical trials are scientific studies of the effects, risks and benefits of medicinal products, including new and currently marketed drugs. Clinical trial and research is now a major business in India. Over 100 companies are currently conducting the clinical trials in India. In the Pharmaceutical field, Top multinational pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer, Glaxo Smith Kline, Aventis, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Astra Zeneca, Eli Lilly are conducting clinical trials in India apart from the Indian companies like Dr. Reddys, Nicholas Piramal, Cipla and Lupin.

India being a land of diversity where Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy are practiced, clinical studies for evaluation of various alternate systems of medicine can also be conducted. India has been increasingly attracting collaborative contract proposals for conducting clinical trials and many entrepreneurs have already come forward to set up their Clinical Research Organisations (CROs). India boasts of well-trained and qualified manpower, well versed in English. In terms of the cost efficiency, India is better as the cost to conduct a trial here is lower by 50 to 75% than in the United States or the European Union. However, to achieve its goal of becoming a global centre of clinical trials, the country has to overcome few challenges. The main objective of this seminar is to discuss various events occurred in clinical trials and role of pharmacist in relation to clinical trials. This conference entitled as Current Scenario on Clinical Trials will be furnished with disscussion sessions on various topics based on Current Status of Clinical trials in India & Job opportunities for students. Objective and Level of activity (Regional / National / International) and target audience (a) Objectives are based on conception regarding: To know basic phases involved in drug research To study process involved in clinical trial assessment To understand designs, errors occurred in clinical trials To know current clinical research organizations conducting research in India To understand merits and demerits of clinical trials in India To know advances in clinical trials (b) Level of activity: State Level (c) Target audience: Academicians, Resarch scholars and students of UG & PG in relevant subject.

Details of Project Coordinator: Project Coordinator Mr. M. N. Urade have completed B. Pharmacy in 2002 from Modern College of Pharmacy, Nigdi, Pune and M.Pharmacy in 2006 from Appasaheb Birnale College of Pharmacy Sangli, Shivaji University, Kolhapur (MS), India with a

specialization in Pharmacology subject. He is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Pharmacology at Shree Santkrupa College of Pharmacy, Ghogoan, Karad. He is having seven years teaching experience at graduate level. He is approved graudate teacher. He has published 01 original Research article & gave 02 presentations in national conferences.
