(s) 1.1.4 Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance. 1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by: a) giving Yes/No replies b) answering simple Wh-Questions Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: i. reply questions using Yes or No ii. answer simple Wh-questions

Making Associations or Connection Generosity Picture cards, word cards and mini boards 1. Lead In: Action Alphabet (5 min.) Pupils do the jazz chant of the action alphabet 2. 3. 4. 5. Pre-Teach(5 min.) Review: known-vocabulary Teach: new vocabulary Teach and drill vocabulary using flashcards (no words) and miming Show word cards independently and ask Ss to read and match words to pictures Extensive Reading: Arrange the Pictures (5 min.) Gs have 1 minute to race and arrange paragraphs of the text in order. Gs raise their hands when they are done. Ss check their answer in the textbook. Intensive Reading: Worksheet (10 min.) T shows Ss the worksheet and give instructions, using questions to check understanding Ss read the text to answer true/false and/or multiple choice questions independently. Ss share and check their answers using mini boards Shared Reading: (5 min.) T reads story to Ss as they follow with their fingers 1 x T reads story, pausing at speech bubbles for Ss to read Volunteers read the story

Day : Wednesday Date : 17th October 2012 Theme World Of Knowledge Topic Unit 23 Chad The Milkman Skills 2.1.2, 2.1.4, 2.2.3, 2.2.4, 2.3.1 Learning std. (s) 2.1.2 Able to recognise and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in single syllable words within given context: :(g) and (h) 2.1.4 Able to segment words into phonemes to spell. 2.2.3 Able to read and understand sentences (3-5 words) in linear and non-linear texts with guidance. 2.2.4 Able to read a paragraph of 3-5 simple sentences. 2.3.1 Able to read simple texts with guidance: a) fiction Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to blend and segmenting words correctly by following teachers instructions and read the story of Chad The Milkman correctly in pronunciation with teachers guidance.

Last person standing wins. Practice: Get it Right (20 min) Divide Ss into 8 groups of 4 Number the Ss in each group #1-4 T calls a sound and a number (m - #4, /a/ - #2, /t/ #1) T dictate sounds to blend: bed, sat, ten, cat, bat, sab, mad, deb If Ss are ready, segment: bet, act, seb, tab, dem Practice: Elkonin Mini Boards 20 min Divide Ss into pairs and number them #1 and #2

Distribute mini boards & markers T calls on a number to write T dictate sounds to blend: ted, dab, sac, sec, man, ten, tad, dam T dictates sounds to segment: tab, sam, mat, set Practice: Chinese Whispers 20 min Divide class into 6 Groups of 5 and number each S # 1-5 T picks one group to model game T1 shows a letter (written on an Elkonin Box), S1 whispers to S2, etc. Last S in line writes the sound in the corresponding Elkonin Box. When the letter is written down, the group sits down. When all groups are seated, T asks last S in each group to say the sound. Award 1 point to each team that gets it correctly. Award 1 bonus point to the fastest team. S1 moves to the back of the line, S2 goes to the front to read the 2nd letter, etc. Last S reads 1st and 2nd sounds, blending the two letters for points. Repeat process until 3 letters are written down. Team blends CVC word and reads to win points. Repeat process until all Ss have had a chance to be at the front of the line. If students are ready to segment: Write whole word in Elkonin Boxes to whisper instead of single letters.

(s) 3.1.2 Able to copy and write in neat legible print: d) words f) simple sentences 3.2.2 Able to write 3-5 word sentences with guidance. 3.2.4 Able to spell common sight words and seen words. Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to copy and write simple sentences with guidance in neat and legible print.

Put up picture cards and word cards on the board. 2. Pupils rearrange words to form phrases to match the pictures. Step 4 (15 minutes) 1. Complete the missing words in the worksheet. Assessment : (15 minutes) Pupils are to arrange and form correct phrases. Remedial : (10 minutes) Rearrange words to form phrases (guided). Enrichment : (10 minutes) Pupils complete the missing phrases in the story. Joining dots and tracing activities.

Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to recite jazz chants with correct pronunciation and rhythm and copy them in their writing book in neat and legible print.
