Prep Information Night 2014 This is the information we covered at our Prep Information Night.

These are the areas we teach the children as well as providing many opportunities to develop these areas. Class covenant Introduction to the Bible and some Bible stories Creating a prayerful atmosphere Creating a prayer space Saying some simple prayers Creating class prayers Church visit/tour Meeting Fr Wrex Treat others as you would want to be treated This term is very much about: Learning routines, people, places, expectations Becoming part of the community: learning school song, national anthem, school prayer, attending assemblies and liturgies Being a good friend - Program Achieve Getting Along unit Responsibility for self and belongings Introduce buddy system Prep Blue (Miss Bertoni) with 4Bl (Mr DeLboux) Prep Gold (Miss McLady PGO) with 4Go (Mrs DeVere) Prep White (Mrs Thomas PWH) with Yr4Wh (Mrs Williamson) Prep Purple (Mrs Brennan PPU) with 5Go (Miss Vague/Miss Black) Housekeeping: Picking Up and Dropping off No teacher supervision prior to 8:20am and this only occurs in the undercover area Classroom doors will be closed for teacher preparation before school; your childs teacher will collect them from the undercover area after the first bell. School day begins at 8:40am. If you arrive after this time please collect a late slip from the office and present to your teacher Children can be collected from 2:50pm. If you need to leave before this time please collect an early departure slip from the office and present to your teacher. Children will be supervised until 3.00 pm. At 3:00, students remaining will be taken to the shade area.

Uniforms It is important that your child is in the correct uniform every day - please refer to the parent handbook for our school uniform policy. Sports uniforms need to be worn on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please label all items clearly including socks, shoes and underwear! Hats - colours. GIRLS White St. Peters socks No Mary Jane type shoes Sports shoes must be black Plain gold or silver stud earrings. No stones. (This is a very important safety issue!) No other jewellery No nail polish Please refer to parent handbook as this information is very clear in here. Please label all items clearly; including socks, shoes and underwear! BOYS White St. Peters socks. No Jewellery

BIRTHDAYS: If you choose to send something to celebrate your childs birthday, we ask that you bring cupcakes or ice blocks. This makes it easier, less time consuming and is fair. Library Each class has a library lesson Children must have library bag to borrow Books should be returned every week on borrowing day Healthy Eating Fruit Break Must be fresh fruit or vegetables Healthy lunches No chips, lollies, chocolate or roll ups and limit pre-packaged products please ALLERGIES: St Peters is a nut free school so no nuts of any sort including peanut butter, Nutella etc.

Tuckshop is available Monday-Friday For lunch (first break) orders should be written on a brown paper lunch bag with Name Class Order Amount of money enclosed Please remind your child to place their order in the tuckshop basket. Jo Grixti would really appreciate volunteers to help in the Tuckshop. If you can please help, go and see Jo in the tuckshop. Specialist Teachers -Music - Mrs Cathy Gough, Italian Mrs Elaine Crocetti, PE - Mrs Liz Wells (Please apply sunscreen before school). BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT The focus of our behaviour management program is positive reinforcement. Our school adopts four basic rules Do what the teacher says Hands off other people and their belongings Signal to speak and move Speak to please and not to tease Steps are taken for those children who do not display appropriate behaviour, both in class and in the playground Consequences include exclusion from play or the class and time spent at the Coaching Room Warning Thinking area Recorded in black book Coaching room Interviews: Compulsory Parent-Teacher interviews will be held at the end of Term 1 and an optional interview can be arranged in Term 3. Your childs teacher will advise you if this is necessary. School reports will be sent home at the end of terms 2 and 4. We are always happy to talk to you; however, mornings are usually very hectic. If your concern requires an in-depth discussion please schedule a meeting. We are unavailable Wednesday afternoons due to staff meetings and Wednesday mornings due to staff prayer.
