Thanks to top-quality academic programs, highly qualified teachers and strong community support, CSD students' scores on statewide exams consistently exceed the State Standard of Excellence, and are above the averages for both Santa Clara County and the State of California.

Repairs and Updates for Student Safety and 21st-century Learning

We know safe, modern classrooms are key to our students' achievement in CSD. Currently, some, of our schools require updates to ensure student safety and security, including fire and earthquake safety systems, fencing, gates and improved lighting. All schools require technology updates to support 21st-century learning. All of our schools and classrooms already face overcrowding,,and enrollment is expected to continue growing.^

Safe, Energy Efficient Schools Save Money

By updating leaky single-paned windows, installing solar panels and replacing old and inefficient equipment with modern heating, cooling and electrical systems, CSD will be a leader in creating green schools while saving a quarter million dollars per year in energy costs. This is funding that can go directly back into classrooms to support student achievement.

Local Funding to Upgrade Schools that Cannot Be Taken By the State

To address these pressing issues, the Cambrian School District Board of Trustees is considering placing a school repair bond on the June 3^ 2014 ballot. All funding from this measure would be controlled locally and could not be taken away by the State. CSD values your opinion and participation in our local schools. To provide input or request more information, please contact me by phone at 408-377-2103 or via emailatblowd2@cambriansd.org with questions or feedback. Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and local schools. Sincerely, ' ' . t -

Local Funding to Improve and Update Cambrian Schools

Providing safe, modern classrooms is critical to our students' achievement in CSD. Cambrian School District is considering putting a local school bond measure on the June 3, 2014 ballot. This measure would generate an estimated $39 million in local funding to repair and update Cambrian schools. The cost would be limited to no more than $30 per $100,000 of assessed (not market) value annually.

Preparing Our Schools and Students for the Future

A potential bond measure would: W Upgrade fire and earthquake safety Reduce classroom overcrowding by providing additional classrooms Enhance school safety and security Provide access to 21st-century learning technology Repair or replace leaky windows

W Maximize energy efficiency by replacing outdated heating, cooling and electrical equipment

Mandatory Accountability Protections

All funds would stay in Cambrian School District not a penny could betaken by the State An independent Citizens' Oversight Committee and annual audits would ensure all funds are spent in Cambrian School District to repair and upgrade school facilities No funds could be used for administrators' salaries, pensions or benefits

CAMBRIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT:

A LEADER IN

In the Cambrian School District, preparing our students for success in the 21 st-century world is a top priority. One way in which we are accomplishing this is with our Digital Media Academy, which equips students with skills in the use of modern technology and increases digital literacy through the creation of digital videos. These projects include curriculum-related videos teaching academic concepts, as well as Public Service Announcements. CSD is considering a local bond measure to support programs like this by providing access to 21st-century learning technology.
