Bachelor of Science Degree in Security Administration and Management (SAM)


The Bachelor of Science Degree in Security Administration and Management is a professional course offered by the Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI) and Security Administrators Limited (SAL) on a fulltime and part-time basis. The programme is developed to prepare candidates to gain entry and middle level employment and to advance their career in both land base, sea and air port security units. Objectives To develop individual candidates with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet the needs of all stakeholders within the various industries. Entry Requirements Option One: At least five (5) CXC / GCE O/L subjects inclusive of English Language or any other equivalency recognized by the University Council of Jamaica. Candidates in this category are required to complete the course in Four (4) years or eight (8) semesters on full time OR four (4) calendar years of (12) semesters on part time. Option Two: Mature candidates, who must be at least 23 years of age and must have at least three (3) years work experience at a supervisory level in security administration or equivalent qualification. Candidates with mature entry qualification are required to complete the course in Four (4) years of eight (8) semesters on full time OR four (4) calendar years of (12) semesters on part time. Option Three: Candidates who have completed the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) course up to advance level

from SAL or any other recognized security training institution. Candidates in this category will receive credits for both basic and advanced PFSO.
