0andGreater BoundaryConditions LoadsSummaryTool

Introduction
HyperMesh allows you to create summary of the loads applied on the model and visualize the same. Load summary tool summarizes the loads from the selected load collectors and hence sums up the Forces and Moments about the model origin by default or at the specified summation node. The supported loads are node-based forces or moments, and element-based pressures. HyperMesh calculates the force from pressure by taking the pressure components and multiplying them by the appropriate elements face area. The corresponding forces are then assumed to be applied at the face centroid.

LoadSummaryTable
Below are the steps to illustrate the Load Summary Table Step1: Access Loads Summary tool either by going to BCs > Check > Loads Summation (Fig 1) or Checks toolbar (Fig 2)

Fig 1

Fig 2

All of the load collectors in the HM database will be displayed in the browser area as shown in Fig 3

Fig 3

Step2: Select a load collector from the list. Note: To select multiple loads <shift> or <ctrl> can be used.

Step3: You can select a coordinate system using Result system (Fig 4) option to define the summary output with respect to that system i.e. the values from the load collectors will be transformed into this system. If a system is not specified at all, HyperMesh uses the system that the loads were created in.

Step4: Click on Summation Node (Fig 5) to select a node in order to sum up forces and moments about that node. (Fig 6)

Fig 6

If a Summation node is not selected, HyperMesh uses global coordinates to sum up the forces and moments.

Step5: Type in a value for Zero tolerance (Fig 7). This defines the cut-off point below which a quantity is considered zero. All calculations are done with float point precision and the zero tolerance value is used to control the output of results. This option helps to eliminate relatively small values from being output to the results. To keep float precision, the default is set to 1.0e-6.

Step6: Check the box for Visualize summed resultant (Fig 8) to visualize the summed results at the summation node location. This option creates a temporary load collector and displays the summed results. You can choose a color to specify the temporary load collectors color.

Fig 8

Step7: Check the box for Show summary table (Fig 9) to outputs the results into a popup window as soon as the Accept button is clicked for instant review. The table contains the summation values as well as information about the load collectors and loads utilized in the summary.

Fig 9

Step8: To export the summary result to a *.csv file, check the box for Create .csv file (Fig 10) and browse to a desired location to save the file.

Step9: Click on Accept. The Loads Summary Output tables will popup as shown in Fig 11 since the show summary table box was checked.

Fig 11 The Forces and Moments are displayed at the summation node location selected in Step4 as seen in Fig.12.
