Presidency Message
!Happy Birthday Relief Society! All adult women in the church are privileged to be members of Relief Society. The Prophet Joseph Smith organized Relief Society on March 17, 1842. He taught that Relief Society was organized for "the relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes. The larger part of the work of Relief Society today is "to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation...of all the female members of the Church." In the first meeting of the Relief Society, Sister Emma Smith said, "We are going to do something extraordinary." Relief Society is filled with examples of ordinary women who have accomplished extraordinary things as they have exercised faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. In one of the first meetings of the Female Relief Society of Nauvoo, Joseph Smith admonished the sisters to" live up to their privilege." The women in the Church have been taught to live up to their divine potential by fulfilling God's purposes for them. As we come to understand who we really are-God's daughters-We can reach our potential as holy women. Through this organization we can help prepare women for the blessings of eternal life by helping them increase in faith and personal righteousness, we can help strengthen families and homes, and we can seek out and help those in need. May we strive to do this as we remember Relief Society's birthday in March. Sister Virginia Noyes

The 10 Ward Relief Society Theme for 2014 is: Becoming a Zion People. And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them. Moses 7:18. As important as it is to have this vision in mind, defining and describing Zion will not bring it about. That can only be done through consistent and concerned daily effort by every single member of the Church. No matter what the cost in toil or sacrifice, we must do it. - President Spencer W. Kimball
