Imminence of God's Judgments There are reasons why we should not build in the cities.

Great balls of fire were falling upon houses, and from these balls fiery arrows were flying in e)ery direction. 2t was im'ossible to chec3 the fires that were 3indled, and many 'laces were being destroyed. The terror of the 'eo'le was indescribable. --()angelism, '. #!. *1!"4+ $%L .5& 5uring a )ision of the night, 2 stood on an eminence, from which 2 could see houses sha3en li3e a reed in the wind. 6uildings, great and small, were falling to the ground. 7leasure resorts, theaters, hotels, and the homes of the wealthy were sha3en and shattered. 8any li)es were blotted out of e9istence, and the air was filled with the shrie3s of the injured and the terrified. The destroying angels of God were at wor3. One touch, and buildings so thoroughly constructed that men regarded them as secure against e)ery danger, :uic3ly became hea's of rubbish. There was no assurance of safety in any 'lace. 2 did not feel in any s'ecial 'eril, but the awfulness of the scenes that 'assed before me 2 cannot find words to describe. 2t seemed that the forbearance of God was e9hausted, and that the judgment day had come. $%L !.1& The angel that stood at my side then instructed me that but few ha)e any conce'tion of the wic3edness e9isting in our world today, and es'ecially the wic3edness in the large cities. .e declared that the Lord has a''ointed a time when .e will )isit transgressors in wrath for 'ersistent disregard of .is law. $%L !.#& Terrible as was the re'resentation that 'assed before me, that which im'ressed itself most )i)idly u'on my mind was the instruction gi)en in connection with it. The angel that stood by my side declared that God's su'reme rulershi', and the sacredness of .is law, must be re)ealed to those who 'ersistently refuse to render obedience to the ;ing of 3ings.
