1. GENERAL
1.1.
Scope

This specification covers the requirements for the design of reinforced concrete (hereinafter referred to as RC) structures for Cilacap Refinery RFCC Project such as pipe racks, equipment support structures and RC framing of buildings for process plants. Exclusions from the scope of this specification are the design requirements for marine structures, silos and chimneys.

1.2.

Specific Design Conditions

Design conditions for this project including site conditions, basis of elevation, materials and other matters depending on the local conditions, local regulations and project requirements are indicated in Section 1.2 of RFCC-C-CV-SP-001 Engineering Specification for DESIGN LOAD

1.3.

Codes and Standards

The applicable codes and standards are indicated in Section 1.3 of RFCC-C-CV-SP-001 Engineering Specification for DESIGN LOAD.

Priority of Requirements

1.6.

Unit and Language

Unless otherwise specified, Metric measurement Unit and English Language shall be applied for all the drawings and documents to be provided. However, nominal sizes of piping components shall be in accordance with inch system (NPS).

2. MATERIALS
2.1.
General

Materials to be used shall have sufficient quality to meet functional and structural requirements to the constructions. Material requirements, which are not specified in this specification or specific design conditions, shall conform to manufacturer's standards. In general, the following standards shall be used: Cement : Portland Cement Type I as per ASTM C150 or equivalent and plus fly ash. Aggregate size : 20mm (Min.) ASTM C33 or equivalent Reinforcement : ASTM A615M Grade 60, JIS G3122 SD390,or equivalent Welded Wire Fabric : ASTM A185, JIS standards, or equivalent Concrete for Structure : 240 kg/cm2 design compressive strength at 28 days (for foundation, beam, wall, column, and other above grade structural member) Pre-Cast Concrete : 240 kg/cm2 design compressive strength at 28 days (for light weight foundation, column, beam, joist, etc.) Concrete Slab on Grade : 240 kg/cm2 design compressive strength at 28 days (for building floor and concrete paving) Fireproofing : 210 kg/cm2 design compressive strength at 28 days for pneumatically applied concrete conforming to ACI 506 with maximum water-cement ratio of 0.50 in place, or vermiculite based component, or equivalent, and; 175 kg/cm2 design compressive strength at 28 days for formed concrete. Lean Concrete : 150 kg/cm2 design compressive strength at 28 days

2.2.

Special Requirements

Requirements for coating and/or lining material for concrete surfaces shall be given in the SPECIFIC DESIGN CONDITION or Engineering Drawings.

3. BASIS OF DESIGN
3.1.
Geotechnical Design Conditions

A factual soil investigation report separate to this document will be provided after the soil investigation work currently being conducted at site. Geotechnical design conditions such as subsurface conditions, soil bearing pressure, pile bearing capacity, and other soil parameters shall be interpreted by EPC Contractor.

3.2.

Design Loads

Design loads and loading combinations shall be in accordance with RFCC-C-CVSP-001 Engineering Specification for DESIGN LOAD

3.3.
3.3.1.

Planning Basis of Planning for RC Structure

Planning of RC structure shall be made, taking the following requirements into consideration: (1) Structural requirements, (2) Safety requirements, (3) Economical consideration, (4) Requirements from equipment/piping layout, (5) Requirements from operation/maintenance, and (6) Construction requirements, such as cast-in-situ or pre-cast concrete.

Structural planning, such as proper arrangement of columns, girders, beams and determination of proper span/height, are the major and important steps in the whole design activity, and shall be made so that structural safety can be assured. Following requirements shall be taken into consideration: (1) Framing shall be arranged so that the stiffness of the structure can be well balanced and structural stability can be secured, (2) In case that heavy and/or tall equipment is installed on RC structure, a proper arrangement of beams and floors shall be planned so that firm anchoring and structural stability can be assured, and (3) Expansion joints shall be provided for the superstructure of large scale more than 50m in width and/or length, depending on structure type/shape and design conditions.

3.4.

Stability of Foundations

Stability of foundations, such as soil bearing pressure, sliding and overturning for foundations, shall be calculated using equations specified RFCC-C-CV-SP-004Engineering Specification for CONCRETE FOUNDATION

4. DESIGN DETAILS
4.1.
Anchor Bolts

Where anchor bolts for equipment longer than depth of supporting elements of RC structure are required, set bolts of sleeve type may be applied. The sleeve pipe shall have the inner diameter of 30mm larger than the outer diameter of the set bolt. The gap between the sleeve pipe and bolt is not filled with grout, unless otherwise required by manufacturer.

4.2.

Embedded Materials

(1) Embedded materials such as insert plates and corner angles where required shall be provided so that expansion anchors (Hole-in anchors) could be minimized. (2) Embedded material surface other than contacting or embedded into the concrete, shall be painted at least 2 coats with the surface preparation by hand tool cleaning. CONSORTIUM ADHI GS E&C

4.3.

Stairs, Ladders and Handrails

(1) Stairs, ladders and handrails provided for RC structure shall be made of steel, in general: The specification for stairs, ladders and handrails shall be in accordance with RFCCC-CV-SP-002 Engineering Specification for STEEL STRUCTURE. (2) In case the concrete stairs are applied, the shape of stairs, such as the tread width and the step height, shall be in accordance with RFCC-C-CV-SP-002 Engineering Specification for STEEL STRUCTURE. (3) In case handrails are required, the fixing method shall be referred to Appendix (1) of this specification.

4.4.

Concrete Slab for Equipment Structure

(1) Concrete slab shall be finished with metal trowel. (2) Concrete slab areas more than 100 square meters shall be sloped at least 1 in 200. (3) Installation level of equipment on the slab shall be minimum 150 mm higher than the floor level or the highest point of concrete slab, unless otherwise specified. (4) Typical reinforcement for concrete slab around openings is presented in Appendix (2) of this specification. (5) Concrete slab areas handling aggressive chemicals shall be coated or lined as required.

4.5.

Chamfer

Chamfer with 15 mm radius or flat bevel shall be provided for external corners of exposed concrete beams, girders and columns as shown in Appendix (3) of this specification.

4.6.

Concrete Cover

Minimum concrete cover for reinforcement shall conform to ACI 318M Section 7.7

5. QUALITY AND INSPECTION


5.1.
5.1.1. Quality Mix Proportion

Selecting the mix proportions of concrete shall be in accordance with ACI 211.1 "Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for Normal, Heavyweight and Mass Concrete" and ACI 211.2 "Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for Lightweight Concrete". Mix proportion shall be determined to satisfy the required design strength and subject for Owner's approval. 5.1.2. Design Compressive Strength

Testing of concrete compressive strength shall be performed in accordance with ASTM C31 "Standard Practice for Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field" and ASTM C39 "Standard Test Method for Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens".

5.2.

Inspection

In general, inspection of concrete shall be in accordance with ACI 311.4R "Guide for Concrete Inspection". 5.2.1. Sampling

Concrete sampling shall be carried out in accordance with ASTM C172 "Standard Practice for Sampling Freshly Mixed Concrete". 5.2.2. Tolerance

Allowable deviation shall conform to ACI 117 "Specifications for Tolerances for Concrete Construction and Materials".
