Like a chocolate chip cookie that has a specific set of instructions, in the format of a recipe, to make the perfect cookie, art has a set of instructions that can guide the artist to use the ingredients or elements to make eye-catching and amazing art.
BALANCE, SCALE AND PROPORTION, RHYTHM AND MOVEMENT, DOMINANCE AND EMPHASIS, CONTRAST AND VARIETY, AND UNITY
BALANCE
Balance Balance is overall visual weight of a composition. There are 3 types of Balance.
1. Symmetric Balance: This balance is achieved when the objects on either side of a central axis is similar or the same.
2. Asymmetric Balance: This balance is achieved when aspects of the object are NOT distributed equally on each side but their total weight is balanced.

Movement in a composition guides a viewers eye through the work, usually to the focal point. By using lines, shapes, forms, colours, etc. the artist can produce the look of action.
Movement IS NOT ACHIEVED BY THE A IMAGE OF SOMEONE OR SOMETHING MOVING.
There is movement shown in this photograph but it is not simply shown by the fact that people are on their bicycles. They could be just sitting on their bicycles. How do we know that they are moving? What Elements tell you that they are moving and how? Where do your eyes start and finish as you look at the photo?

VARIETY
When there are many changes and multiple qualities occur, variety is created.
UNITY
Unity is achieved when everything in the work suggests the same theme according to colours, typography, imagery, texture, illustration, lines. Similar colours, textures, line, brushwork, etc. are used to create the composition.
How many things can you identify that match the theme here > > > > > > > ?
