Warning

This Quick Start Instruction Guide is intended as a guide only.

Read the Instruction Manual thoroughly before using the VT210S.

Use extreme caution during installation.

Do not open the front cover while power is applied.

Always ground the Inverter heatsink.

Installation

Install the Inverter vertically, so that the cable glands face downwards.
Allow for the correct spacing around the Inverter for ventilation
(X +>50mm, Y +>200mm). Fig. 1.

Always ensure that the Inverter is switched off before wiring.
Please note that TBA must be set in position shown (Fig. 2.)
for 380-400V operation, and in position 1-2 for 415-460V
operation.

Connect wiring as shown in Fig. 2. Make sure that correct
short circuit protection devices are fitted and best wiring
practises are observed (see page 2-3 in the supplied
manual).

A Ferrite is supplied with the filter, which must be fitted to
meet EMC compliance. The motor phase cables must be
inserted through the output ferrite as per EMC Filter Kits
Guide to Installation and Use.
Voltage Surge

For long motor cable lengths (>30m), a motor choke can be ordered which
must be fitted between the Inverter and the motor. Motor cables must be
screened at both ends.

Connect inputs as shown in Fig. 3. or to suit your application. If using a
potentiometer, connect the wiper to FSV terminal. Analogue signal
cables MUST be screened. Connect one end of the screen to COM.
The COM terminals are linked internally.
RY0 is isolated and must NOT be connected to COM.
Test Running the Drive

Please note that VT210S drives are supplied either as Constant Torque or Variable Torque and cannot be changed
by the user. Operating the drive type is identical in all other ways although maximum and minimum values of some
parameters may vary.

Default settings allow the basic running of the motor to prove the system, but first set:

B00-1 set 31 assuming 415V, 50Hz B00-5 set motor rated current (A)
supply, and max freq B00-4 Output Voltage may have
requirement of 50Hz. to be set for non-standard
motors.

On power up, the Inverter display will cycle through a self-diagnostics check, and then show confirming the
drive is in a ready state.

Press FWD on the keypad and the motor will ramp up to 10Hz in a forward direction. The display will change
from to ( local frequency setting A00-0).
Press REV and check that the motor changes direction. Now press STOP, the motor will stop.

Acceleration and Deceleration will be default values at this stage.

Remote Running

The inverter is set to run in Local (keypad) mode.

With the drive display showing press STOP + LCL together to toggle between local and remote modes.

From default settings, the inverter is set up to accept the following signal inputs: (page 6-11).

FRUN Forward Run PSI1 Reverse Run
RST Reset PSI2 Forward Jog
EMS Emergency Stop ** PSI3 Reverse Jog
FSV 0-10V signal reference

** by default is a normally open contact, coast to stop. Refer to manual (page 6-10) for options.

Set B08-0 to 12 to power up in remote mode (page 6-16).

If necessary, set new Accel/Decel times in A01-0 and A01-1 (page 6-3).
Jog Accel/Decel can be set in B21-2 and B21-3 (page 6-21).

Braking is set on from default.

From default the signal reference is obtained from the 0-10V analogue input. This can be from a number of sources
including a potentiometer as shown in Fig. 3.
Configuration

The Inverter parameter menu system is grouped into Modes and Blocks
according to their functions and frequency of usage.

To manoeuvre around the menu system, pressing the MOD key will change
between the Monitor, A and B block parameters. Pressing the key will
change through the parameters in that block. See Fig. 4.

The display will alternate between the parameter number and its current value.
Press SET to change the parameter value. Increase/decrease the value by
using the and keys, and move to next digit by pressing the key.
When you have set the parameter to the value you want, press SET.

It is possible to reset to default values when the drive is not running, by setting
parameter B06-3 to 9 (page 6-12).

The parameter default values are such that the inverter can be quickly, and
safely, checked after power on. However, some of the default values may
need to be changed to suit specific applications.

From default, only the Basic Function parameters can be accessed.

Set parameter A05-0 from 2221 to 1111 to release further parameters blocks.
Fig.4.

A02-0 Increase this value for loads with high Starting Inertia.

Setting Pre-set Speeds

As well as running from 0-10V analogue reference, it is possible to set up to 8 pre-set speeds (plus Jog). Digital
inputs PSI1-PSI5 can be programmed in a number of ways to suit the application.

A worked example of using 10Hz, 13.20Hz, 25Hz, 40.32Hz and 50Hz pre-set speeds is shown below:

Set B03-1 to 0 turns off F Jog Set B04-6 to 5 uses PSI5 as S2
Set B03-2 to 0 turns off R Jog Set B20-0 to 10.00 Prog Freq 0 - 10Hz
Set B04-2 to 2 uses PSI2 as PROG Set B20-1 to 13.00 Prog Freq 1 - 13.20Hz
to enable pre-set speeds Set B20-2 to 25.00 Prog Freq 2 - 25Hz
Set B04-4 to 3 uses PSI3 as S0 Set B20-3 to 40.32 Prog Freq 3 - 40.32Hz
Set B04-5 to 4 uses PSI4 as S1 Set B20-4 to 50 Prog Freq 4 - 50Hz

Using inputs PSI3-PSI5 as binary inputs (see Fig. 5) it is possible to set any of the speeds. Please note that it is also
possible to set independent accel/decel ramps to each pre-set speed. (Refer to B40-0, B41-x and B42-x on pages
