DATA MINING IN BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND LIFE CYCLE MODELING As we know, data mining is an interdisciplinary subfield of computer science where is the computational process of discovering patterns in large data sets involving methods at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics and database systems. In other words, data mining is a broad field where the very important note that data mining is not software alone but as some vendors would have client believe. It is because, we can use the data mining in the construction. For the example, in construction we used data mining in building maintenance and life cycle modeling. Data mining enables a building owner to make important decisions about life cycle cost in advance, thereby significantly affecting and improve design decisions. Applying data mining techniques on the available industrial maintenance data has helped to discover useful rules that allowed locating some critical issues that will have substantial impact on improving the management of building life cycle. How Data Mining works in construction? Data mining technique assisted in identifying critical cost issues. Building maintenance need a highest cost. So, in data mining we can totally check before the maintenance in progress whether we want to save the budgeted or how. In other words, all construction project need to minimize cost and maximize profit. Besides that, applying data mining technique mostly helps facility and building managers to identify the important maintenance issues and directs the improvement of strategic planning to add value to the life cycle of buildings.

Knowledge Discovery in Database (KDD) and Data Mining are tools that allow identification of valid, useful and previously unknown patterns so that building manager can analyze a large amount of project data.

Integrating data mining within the life cycle of building information management For the conclusion, data mining of building maintenance can help to discover something like procedure that reduce future failures and repairs or maintenance operations that are being done improperly also the ways to improve repairs that reduces subsequent down time and undocumented methods being used by experienced personnel that result in reduced down time. The advice notice of likely failures before the failures occur. Such discoveries can be used to modify building maintenance and repair procedures thereby reducing downtime, increasing uptime and significantly reducing the costs of maintenance and repair.
