I am submitting an application for a place on MA App Ling For Lang Teaching (FullTime) at the Faculty of Humanities in the University

of Southampton because of your reputation of excellence in these fields, I also believe that the international reputation of this department has drawn the attention of such a variety of students and I believe it will be an exciting environment in which to study at master level. Based on my review and the feedback from your previous student, I can see that your university also provides excellent working and excellent facilities for graduate students which display your commitment to the graduate student body. This course has been beneficial because it gave me a deeper understanding and awareness about teaching especially English teaching to various students and classroom management. I also got the opportunity to do the teaching practice in the selected secondary school nearby. It gave me numerous experiences as I could never expected. At first, I can see that almost majority of my students could not speak or even use English very well. They looked so shy and unmotivated. Nevertheless, their motivation towards English has aroused when I tried to use apply the interesting methods like using song and movie to help them learning English. Now, I can see that they are more confident to use English in Social Media like Facebook and Twitter. Therefore, I really hope, by experience, skills and guide from Southampton University will enable me to improve my teaching skills and expose me to be the best English teacher for them. Although I am a fresh graduate but apart from my teaching practise, I also currently finished my contract as substitute teacher at the Primary School. I have worked there for three months and the experience that I gained has broadened my skills in handling primary schools student. Besides, I also involved as tuition teacher and English Language Facilitating in my university. Therefore, although I have graduated with First Class Honours and CGPA is 3.653 which I hope will demonstrate my academic ability to study at this level. During my tenure ship as President of Students College, I was a dedicated, committed, and fast learner who always believed that each assignment given was a trust that needed to be taken care of as good as possible. It also helped me in gaining a sense of responsibility and maturity. The programs like organising large numbers of people, arranging important events and giving speeches to big audiences helped me in developing strong personal and communication skills. Above all else, I have learned the rewards of making a useful contribution towards college life in more than an academic sense and I believe, I can take this understanding with me to this university. Due to the commitment and cooperation with our staff, my college was selected to be in the category of top 6 best colleges out of 19 in my campus. I was also actively engaged in academic society and social service like feeding the homeless and providing low-fee for English for needy. It is because I think everyone deserved to get the education. It would give me great enjoyment to play a tremendous role in the growth of my students. I understand that teaching is a demanding and tiring job, but I am more than willing to do whatever it takes to reach my goal of becoming an English teacher. I believe teaching will offer me the challenge and diversity I seek from my career. I

also feel I possess the skills that will enable me to make a positive contribution to teaching. I am very much looking forward to explore the new ideas of your university and playing a full part in University life.
