Name: Francisco Ren Burgos lvarez Carrer: English Major (Licenciatura en Idioma Ingls) Subject: Management of Technological Resources

for the Teaching and Administration of the English Language (Part IV) Activity: My own description about the VARK Year: 2014

My own point of view about VARK VARK is a questionnaire that provides users with a profile of their learning preferences. These preferences are about the ways that they want to take-in and give-out information. When taking the test, I was given several question about what I would do or like to do in several presented situations, according to my own learning preference, the results showed that I have an Aural learning style. I have been reading the helpsheets for study strategies that best apply to my learning preference and I think that the ones that best fit my style are the Intake and Output styles. My scores at the end of the quiz were as follows: Your scores were:

Visual: 6 Aural: 8 Read/Write: 4 Kinesthetic: 3

You have a mild Aural learning preference. Use the following helpsheets for study strategies that apply to your learning preference: aural

Now, according to these results, I have decided that the styles that best fit my learning style are: Intake style:

attend classes attend discussions and tutorials discuss topics with others

discuss topics with your teachers explain new ideas to other people use a tape recorder remember the interesting examples, stories, jokes... describe the overheads, pictures and other visuals to somebody who was not there leave spaces in your notes for later recall and 'filling'

The intake style means that I have strong tendencies to attend classes, to be involved in discussions and tutorials and to discuss topics with others, including teachers. I also like to explain new ideas to other people, to use taperecorders and remember by seeing examples, stories, jokes, etc.

Output

Imagine talking with the examiner. Listen to your voices and write them down. Spend time in quiet places recalling the ideas. Practice writing answers to old exam questions. Speak your answers aloud or inside your head.

The other style that fits me is the output style, and that means that I like to imagine talking with the examiner, write down my thoughts and spending time in quit places to recall them. Something that I like to do is measuring my learning level by doing tests or exams, and re-reading them to recall old questions and old learning acquired. Finally, recall answers from old exams either by speaking them aloud or inside my head. Based on this results, I think that I best learn by reading and writing, and by watching examples.
