Bishop Steve Delzer Visits Aurora and Trinity! Our newly elected bishop for our Southeastern MN synod, Steve Delzer, will be visiting and preaching at both Aurora and Trinity on Sunday, March 1 th! "ollowing Aurora#s late service, the Aurora $%&'A have graciously agreed to host a luncheon for (ishop Delzer! During this ti)e, (ishop Delzer will ta*e the opportunity to spend ti)e in conversation with us as a group! Ryan & Michelle Williams will be hosting the March Young Adults Night. TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH ANNUAL MEETING Sunday, January 19, 2014 Meeting called to order by Pastor Jon with opening prayer. Pres. Rich is absent. irectory has been co!piled o" church !e!bers. # copy was passed around so that corrections could be !ade. 201$ the!e o" %eeding &odies' (rinity donated to the !en)s shelter, ga*e away tic+ets to the #ebles+i*er supper, gi*es to the ,llendale "ood shel" e*ery 2nd Sunday o" the !onth, and donated -2.0.00 that was gi*en to (rinity by !ista+e. 2014 the!e o" %eeding Minds' (he Mission /o!!ittee has co!e up with three goals. 01 ,1pand education in our parish, 02 support !ind based organi2ations such as the &oys and 3irls club, 0$ !e!bers beco!e closer together in our parish. Joint 4orship co!!ittee is loo+ing ahead at new the!es o" worship. Pastor Jon passed on a 5(han+ 6ou "or this past year7. 8e is *ery great "ull "or the support he has recei*ed in good and bad ti!es. 8e states,79 lo*e you all, and a! glad to be here7. 6t9s that ti)e of year again& Lent# +hile this season before <aster is often viewed as a ti)e when we are si)(ly obligated to go to church )ore than once a wee0, the (ur(ose of this church season is )uch dee(er than that# =uring this *$4day season, in which Jesus 7ourneys towards death on the cross, we are invited to consider our own )ortality# Lent begins on ;sh +ednesday, a ti)e when all of us will be )ar0ed with a cross of ashes and the (ainful truth % we are dust and to dust we shall return# +hen faced with our own fragile reality, we are invited to as0 one very i)(ortant >uestion& how do 6 want to s(end the ti)e that 6 have? +hat does it )ean to be a follower of Jesus, who will die so)e day? 6t isn9t a very ha((y to(ic# 6n fact, it is a hard one# But it is also crucial, because by facing the truth about our lives, we can discover 1od9s (ur(ose for our lives# ;nd that can lead us to great ho(e and 7oy# By revealing our truth and discovering 1od9s truth, the )ove)ent of Lent to <aster can feel li0e life co)ing out of death@ ho(e co)ing out of suffering# Lent is 3a season of sadness before the season of 7oy, a song of sorrow that (recedes <aster9s shouts of (raise# Lent is the dance of des(air and de7ection, before <aster9s lively re7oicing#51 +e will enter into this season of Lent through the story of <d =obson# <d is a (astor who was diagnosed with ;LS (Lou 1ehrig9s =isease # ;ccording to <d, this disease forced hi) into a situation where he grew in understanding in what it )eant to follow Jesus# 6n a A4(art fil) series, <d wrestles with issues of suffering and death, and how, as 2hristians, we can discover new life and ho(e with the ti)e we have left# Following ;sh +ednesday, each +ednesday Bight Lenten +orshi( service will include a 1$4)inute video of <d9s story# "ogether, we will wal0 with <d on his 7ourney fro) inevitable death to a life of ho(e, fro) the suffering of the cross to resurrected life# .o(e to see you there# 6n (eace and love,
