Important Note : If applicants age is below 14 years , s/he is not required to attend the appointment at Visa Application Centre or at Embassy/Consulate. Accompany/Guardians/Parents can carry the application documents along with one photograph of child, as per U.S. Visa specification. Follow link for details: Apply for a U.S. Visa | Photos and Fingerprints - India (English) Instructions The Embassy, Consulates and Visa Application Centre do not permit interested parties such as friends, relatives, attorneys, or business contacts to attend non-immigrant visa interviews with the applicant. Exceptions : a) Applicants under 18 years of age may be accompanied by a parent or guardian, but it is not required. b) Physically disabled applicants can be accompanied by caretakers, if required. c) Interpreters for the hearing-impaired applicants. d) and others who need special assistance. For the safety of the applicant, all applicants will be screened by security personnel before entering the Embassy or Consulate compound or Visa Application Centre. Note: Screening will be done with Handheld/ Archway metal detectors which are safe for all including pregnant women and heart patients with cardiac pacemakers. The following items are not permitted inside the Embassy/Consulates or Visa Application Centre: Battery-operated or electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, flash drives, memory sticks, Blue Tooth devices, laptop or tablet computers, portable music players, or remote-control car keys All bags such as travel bags, back packs, briefcases, suitcases, leather, jute or cloth bags and zip folders - you can only carry unsealed plastic bags containing application-related papers Large shoulder bags/purses - only bags that can be carried by hand will be permitted Food Items Cosmetics (including but not limited to spray perfume/cologne and talcum/baby powder) Sealed envelopes or packages Any inflammable item such as matchboxes/ lighters/ Cigarettes/cigars etc. Any sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail filers Weapon or weapon like objects or explosive material of any kind Long Handled Umbrella's This list is not exhaustive. Other items may be prohibited at the discretion of security staff. There is no information window for walk-in visitors at the Embassy, Consulate or Visa Application Centre. There is no facility at the Embassy, Consulate or at the Visa Application Centre to store prohibited items. You must make alternative arrangements to safeguard your belongings. Only application related papers would be permitted inside and applicants are requested to keep the following documents ready for security inspection and respond to queries, if any: Report only 15 minutes prior your appointment time at Visa Application Centre Appointment confirmation letter Old and Recent Passport DS-160 confirmation page Application supporting documents as applicable (for Embassy/Consulate Interview only) For applicants under 14 years - 1 Photograph with white background (2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size. To collect your passport, Original government-issued photo ID and also a photocopy of the ID is mandatory. Your passport will be delivered by Blue Dart courier if you avail this service (This is subject to the pin codes serviced by Blue Dart Courier). Service can be availed by paying the charges at respective Embassy/Consulate courier counter after your visa interview on the same day. If you wish to avail the service please request for courier slip at the Visa Application Centre on the day of Biometric appointment.
