SCOPE
1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5
This specification covers the requirements for sanitary sewage disposal systems and septic tanks. Sanitary sewers shall collect waste from toilet facilities, lavatories, showers and floor drains in rest, wash and locker rooms. Industrial (utility) sewers shall lcollect normal oily or nonoily waste water, chemical waster, storm waste water or firewater. Separate systems shall be supplied to the extent shown on flow diagrams and drawings for underground utility and sewage disposal piping. The scope excludes sewage treatment plant facilities, nevertheless in the case of large buildings, that kind of plants shall be considered.
2.1.1
DESIGN
3.1 3.2
Sewer lines shall slope to discharge. Main sewer lines shall be a minimum of 152,4 mm (6 inch) diameter cast iron soil pipe with a maximum distance of 60 m (200 ft.) between manholes, and the lines shall have a minimum slope of 1%. branch lines shall be a minimum of 101,6 mm (4 inch) diameter.

Piping system shall be designed so that each branch and main can be cleaned out, through an accessible seal. Each connection shall be made at a maximum angle of 45 degrees. Sewer systems shall have a minimum horizontal clearance of 1.000 mm and a minimum vertical clearance of 250 mm between a parallel route of an underground line containing water suitable for human consumption. In case of crossing, the minimum vertical clearance shall be 100 mm. The fresh water line shall be above the sewer line in any case. (Refer to article 188, chapter XXII Gaceta Oficial No. 752).
3.6 3.7
3.7.1 3.7.2
Vents shall be provided for each sealed section to prevent syphoning of liquid seal and accumulation of gases. Manholes shall be located in accordance with the following: Where alignment in elevation changes more than 10 degrees. In concrete pipe, manholes are required for every direction change when elbows are not used. Pockets other than accessible seals and/or traps at manholes, cleanouts, catch basins and floor drains are prohibited. Floor drains installed for lavatories at floor levels above ground level shall discharge into a sewage system.

DESIGN DETAILS
4.1 4.2
Floor drains shall be trapped. Vents for urban and residential areas shall discharge at a minimum 1.800 mm (6 ft.) above grade for accessible locations and 150 mm (0,5 ft.) for not accessible locations. Vents for manholes in urban and residential areas shall discharge at least 10.000 mm (30 ft.) away from open flame and exposed transformers. Vents shall be located to give minimum obstruction in passageways. For industrial areas, the electric area classification, according to NFPA70, shall be taken into account for vents location.
