r "I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power ofSatan to God .. Acts 26:28

Dearest Friends & Family,

Where to begin...Our heads and hearts are reeling at the moment with all that God is doing in and among us! We've just recently returned from Singapore with 19 of our people and with incredible refreshment and blessing from the Lord. Pastor Cesar Castellanos from Bogota, Columbia shared both his vision and the trials through which the Lord has worked to grow what has become the second largest church in the world, behind the church of Seoul, Korea. Wow! We were stretched and challenged beyond anything we've experienced before. Our people have renewed commitment for winning their city for Christ and new vision for equipping and growing their church, for raising up a new level and depth of leadership. It's been exciting to see how open the church has been to the
new ideas and vision with which we returned from Singapore. We are daily in prayer seeking the Lord's guidance in implementing some new strategies for equipping every member of the churchmen, women, and young people, to realize their potential for service in the Kingdom of God. Our conviction, which is becoming clearer as the days go by, is that Christ's mandate to us as His Church was not to simply persuade people to believe in Him, baptize them and proudly enter them on our church rolls, but to make them His disciplesgenuine followers of Christ who are able to raise up other disciples a/so! We're beginning to see that the potential for growth, both spiritual and numerical, far exceeds what we have ever imagined. The Spirit of God is moving all around the world, gathering people from every tribe, tongue, and nation into His family. He has big plans for His children, even on this side of Heaven...and we all have the great opportunity to be in on it! On the more material side of thingswe're still waiting...for a place to live, that is. The Foreman family is experiencing the refugee life as we are staying with our second set of benevolent friends since returning in January. Our co-worker, Angi Davis, is the second host to be blessed with our intrusion. We so appreciate her and her roommate's hospitality and forbearance. We have found a place, but are waiting for the owners to vacate and move into their new place. God never ceases to amaze us with His detailed provision. We spent two rather frustrating weeks looking at a multitude of well-meant suggestions with nothing that would even come close to working for our family. In addition to this, we expected to have quite an outlay of cash in order to furnish whatever place we did decide on (probably a flat or apartment), with just the basics. What 1 mean is that, as is typical of most Taiwanese houses/apartments, there are no built-in closets, shelves, or cupboards. These little extra amenities are not designed into the floor plan of any Taiwanese home; they are moved in later as wardrobes and set against the walls wherever needed. So, Kathy made a list of what we would need in order to occupy a flat and also be able to put our clothes, towels, and underwear away. The list was extensive and complete. With all these furnishings our house (excuse me, apartment) would be a homewith no underwear folded and stored in the
corner.

One day back in January, we went to view what we expected to be one more on a long list of undesirables. This particular apartment was on the 10^ floor of the high rise in which our 2"'^ church building was located. Kathy &. 1 walked in and noticed each other's jaws hanging a bit as we began to observe that everything on her list, which

was lacking in every other apartment, was already built in to this 4 bedroom one! Right down to the "Where are we going to store our luggage?"There's a closet big enough for that too! The lady of the house even informed us that they were buying all new furniture for their new home, so if there was anything we needed that they had, she'd be happy to let us use it! They'll be leaving a TV, dining room table, AG's, etc., etc.! Thank you, Lord for
your unending care for usright down to the closets! We've been busy gearing up for our "Resurrection Day Harvest Event". All of our cell groups were involved preparing various parts of this program, which happened on Easter Sunday morning. There was an engaging play depicting the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus with a full background setting of the cross and empty tomb, a beautiful choir proclaiming in song that "He Is Risen", and a short message about the truth and relevance of a resurrected Lord who can give hope and life to this idolatrous society. One cell designed and printed the invitation, another planned the praise and worship time and another prepared for the potluck meal. We all prayed for and invited friends who are the most open to God. There were 175 precious folks In all, a record Sundai; attendance! We're praying that this will truly have been a harvest event of souls and not just one more church activity, as our people continue to pursue relationships with their guests.

The Easter story unfolds.

Eugene Tsai portrays Jesus on the cross.

I ,C'

Are you telling me that Jesus Is alive?

Yes, He has risen!

Chuck preaching to a full house on Easter morning.

Jimmy Jung baptizing his son, Johnny.

Dr. Johnson Gu baptizing his son.

Toby Lee baptizing his daughter, Joanna.

Mr. Huang, not yet a Christian, watches as his wife is baptized. Karen's influence and witness helped lead
her to the Lord.

The thing that excites us most is the number of souls who are already being harvested! On Easter Sunday we had 11 baptisms, and 8 of them were children! We are beginning to harvest our second generation already! How grateful we are to all who have had an influence on these little onesfirst of all, their parents who have come to the Lord in recent years and have been faithfully talking about and living out their faith before their children, their Children's Worship leaders and teachers, and all those in the church who have, by example, shown
them what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Please

Kurt, our youngest son, being obedient in baptism. pray for these precious ones as they approach their Lord in simple trust and find their place in the Family of God. Three of the children's fathers, two of them cell leaders, helped with the baptizing. How great it is to see our people leading their families and friends to Jesus!

We also ask that through your prayers, you engage with us in the spiritual battle against Satan, our enemy. It is becoming more and more evident as the Kingdom of God is beginning to come to Taiwan, that work of the Evil

"I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them fromdarkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God ..Acts 26:28

Happy Belated Holiday & New Year Greetings, It didn't look a lot like Christmas, no matter where we went. The perspiration on our brow, the palm trees on our street, and the coconut milk in our cups all reminded us that we weren't living in a winter wonderland. But no matter the climate nor the atmosphere, Christmas was celebrated by Christians in Taiwan and others around the world who have

found joy, F>eace and new life in Christ. We've noticed that the focus of Christians here is not on the sentimental nostalgia of the season that is such a part of our lives in the West, but on the Most High ~ the Son of God whom they never knew, but whom they now know came to live with men and who is now living in them, Emmanuel. This time of year is always a great time for reflection . . . (that's the spiritual way to refer to recapping the year's important events or just bringing one's supporters up to date! ) It's hard to believe another year is already history, but as 2003 dawns upon us, it really is good to look back and see all that the Lord has done. The ministry highlights of 2002 that stand out in our minds are events like >- Taking 19 of our folks to Singapore for an intensely spiritual experience of inner renewal and challenge
to be "on purpose disciple makers," Returning to Taiwan to share this expanded vision of cell reproduction and personal discipleship with
our church,

Seeing our people work hard to reach their families and community at Easter time with 11 baptisms in one day and 175 people in attendance, ^ Learning to be content as a "refugee" family as we waited 4 months for a place to live, > Completing our first all-church Equipping Track conducted in four, six-hour, Saturday seminars, > Observing how God can take the loss of a loved one like Kathy's brother, Chuck, and the accompanying grief and use it to strengthen her for ministering hope and compassion to others, ^ Standing in awe at the mature response of our leaders to "church family" problems, Witnessing some truly miraculous conversions and ending the year with 21 baptisms -- that's more than in any previous calendar year to date! ^ Hosting 300 guests at our Christmas Outreach, presenting the gospel in no uncertain terms and receiving some genuine responses. Now it's follow-up time! When we stop to reflect upon all that God did in 2002, we know that what He has planned for 2003 is already far beyond all that we can ask or imagine! It's this hope that keeps us pressing on. We're looking forward to a year of unprecedented growth, both spiritually and numerically. Although we are extremely encouraged by what we see happening here, the missionary-church planter role is not without its discouragements. We had a family leave the church dissatisfied recently. They had come to us from another church and become a significant part of our body. I know what you're thinking . . . "Com'on, Foreman, that happens all the time here!" Perhaps so, but this was a first for us in Taiwan. You see, this church was built completely with new converts to Christianity. Nearly all of our people have been brought to the Lord through the ministry of this church. We have very few members who have come to us as already "saved" people, in other words, from other churches. There's nothing more exciting for a pastor than to work with people like this.

Micah was 15 months old when we first came to Taiwan

and now he stands nearly a head taller than his momi

Happy smiles to you h'om our three sons! Micah (17) - Kurt (10) Nick (13)

Helena, Karen, Kathy, Jane & Julia. Some of our beautiful

Christian ladies at ^e Christmas Outreach.

Grandma Jau sees her prayers answered! For many years,

nearly every morning, she would kneel before their bed and pray for her husband to be saved.

Grandpa Jau's Baptism! He was so full of joy when he came up out of the water he started clapping with all of us.

Tasha Chang, whom some of you met in Tulsa nearly two years ago, was baptized on her birthday.

They're clean slates, eager to learn. Like fresh sponges, they just soak up God's Word! To them the Church is their new family. Quitting or leaving is inconceivable to them. The only baggage they carry with them is from their
pagan pasts. But I'm finding that an idolatrous history is frequently much easier to deal with than some of the traditional ideas about church that many older Christians drag around. How mature these babes in Christ often are in comparison to some of their older counterparts who just don't seem to get it. As older Christians, I've noticed that we can categorize ourselves by two distinct attitudes toward the church., The first causes us to look at the church and ask questions like: "Can you meet my particular needs?" And, "Do you do church like I'm used to?" The second moves us to look at the church and ask the following: "Are you a church which loves Jesus above all else?" Are you a Kingdom building church? And, "How can 1roll up my sleeves, use my gifts and help you build the Kingdom?" May God help each of us to love Jesus above all else. May we always

"seek first His Kingdom." And may we continually strive to use the gifts He has given us, working hand in hand with each other to build the Kingdom of God on earth. I've also noticed that it never occurs to most new Christians that it should be any other way. Perhaps that's why Jesus said, "Unless you become like children ..." Older does not always mean more mature. That makes me want to stay young!

Our family is expanding. No, we're not having another one; you'd have to put me away if that were the case. Our boys are growing up so much that you probably wouldn't even know them. Micah (17) is taller and bigger than Dad now and he delights in reminding me of the fact. Nick (13) and Kurt (10) are neck and neck racing to see who's going to overtake Mom first. They're all basketball fanatics. We'd probably make a pretty good team if we had a 5th man, although Dad is slowing down a little. How 'bout a 5th gal? Perhaps we can recruit Mom.
Wonder what we'd have to pay her?

A very special thanks and blessing for the New Year to all of you who faithfully stand with us financially and in prayer. We especially want to thank our supporting churches for seeing us through another year. Thank you, East Tulsa Christian Church! Thank you. Highland Meadows Christian Church! Thank you, North Point Christian Church! Thank you, Longview Christian Church! Thank you, Cherokee Hills Christian Church! God Bless You! We love you all and praise God for your partnership with us.

Please be praying for your Taiwanese brothers and sisters and for us as we struggle against the forces of idolatry and spiritual oppression all around us, and as we cry out to our Heavenly Fatherto firmly establish His Kingdom on Taiwan.
Until He comes, we are in His service,
