Solenoid Replacement Old Style 1V6P

The Old Style CAMS1V6P machine has 2 distinct sets of solenoids, there are a set of 4 SMC type Solenoids that operate the swing and spin and up and down motion of the Gun assemblies, and another set of 3 different type of solenoids which control vacuum to the 3 gun nozzle tips (1 Swing Gun, and 2 Spin Gun) When a machine fails to Swing the Top gun to the left and to the right, then 1 SMC type solenoid may be defective, If the Spin Gun no longer spins then there is another SMC type Solenoid that spins it that may be at the end of its life, Or if the Swing Gun or the Spin Gun no longer move up and down either to take a stone from the Hopper (Sewing Gun) or take the stone from the Swing Gun (Spin Gun) then there are solenoids that may be defective.

The SMC type Solenoids are located at the top right of your machine and the Vacuum Generator type solenoids are located by opening the right Plexiglas door of your machine and is hangs above on the right. Testing to see if SMC Solenoid needs to be replaced: Tools Needed: 1) Phillips Screw Driver Remove the top cover of the machine (There are 6 Phillip screws) and then once that is removed there will be a L Shaped cover plate hiding the solenoids on the right side, remove these 4 Phillip screws. This will give up access to view the solenoids. Each have a LED light which comes on when the solenoid is turned on so we can ensure electric power is going to the solenoid.

If one or more of the guns no longer Spin or Swing or fail to move up and down then we should test to see if the solenoid is the cause of the issue. 1) Go to the IOW menu on your control panel screen. 2) Navigate to the IOW Menu Screen and go to the appropriate IOW Line and Number to test to see if the specific gun moves as shown in the ledger below. 3) Press the SET button to test the motion of the gun.

If the gun does not move in the desired way: For Example: if the issue you are experiencing on the machine is the top gun is failing to go down to the plate to take the stone, then you would go to the IOW menu and navigate to the IOW2 line and arrow over to the . Under the number 3 and press set to see if the gun moves up and down. If it does not make sure you air switch on the machine is ON and we have 6 Bars of pressure seen on the regulator under the machine. Also look at the solenoid to see if its LED light illuminates when the IOW 2 # 3 is On (Indicated by an O appearing instead of a dot.) If the LED light is illuminated and there is 6 bars of pressure from the machines regulator, and the air switch is turned to on then the solenoid would need to be replaced. You would also test the other solenoids in the exact same manor if you see that the bottom gun is not rotating or failing to move upwards and downwards or if the top gun fails to move to the left where the hopper is.
Noting the solenoid that illuminates when the solenoid is turned on lets you know which solenoid is responsible for the movement and may have to be replaced

Replacing the Solenoid: Tool Needed: 1) Phillip Screw Driver 2) #10 Combination or adjustable wrench Once you know which solenoid needs to be replaced via the LED Light that came on when that solenoid was turned on by the IOW menu, be sure to turn the Air Switch on the machine to OFF prior to replacing the solenoid.

1) Disconnect the 2 tubes from their fittings. (Be sure to remember which fitting these tubes go to for the new solenoid). 2) Disconnect the electrical connection to this solenoid (Red and Black Wired Connection on the end) 3) Un-screw the 2 Phillip screws which secure the solenoid to the manifold block.

4) Replace the old solenoid with new one and secure the tuning to their appropriate fittings and plug the electrical wire back in. 5) Test that the Gun Now moves by turning the AIR SWITCH to ON and go to the IOW menu and test to ensure the gun is now working.
