1) How successful is the author (in relation to his cultural and background knowledge)

Fall Things Apart is one of the greatest masterpiece of Chinua Achebe, a Nigerian novelist which had done a very good job through his book. Throughout this novel, I do think that he managed to write a successfully masterpiece. There are many of the reasons of his excellent writing which can bring his readers to go deeper about the Nigerian life and customs. Raising up as Nigerian and been exposed to the customs of Nigerian life really give him so much experiences that he shared them with his readers through this novel. Things Fall Apart traces life in the Igbo village of Umuofia, Nigeria, just before and after its initial contact with European colonists and their Christian religion. There are various of tradition that the Nigerian have been practiced since a long time ago.For example, they believes that kola nut can bring life to the one who brings it and serves them to the guests who visit their house. They also believe that a child who eat eggs has the tendency to be kleptomaniac that like to steal from others. Being the son of the Christian parents in Igbo town of Ogidi in southeastern Nigeria, Achebe excelled at school and won a scholarship for undergraduate studies. Since he is a welleducated Nigerian, his knowledge has been the catalyser for him to write a very good writing that makes him become a well-known writer among the writers in the world. He can create vary of conflicts in the story which have been the centre problem and the main reasons for the readers to look forward and feel curious of what happen in the next pages.

2) How effective was the author in writing this book ? (provide evidence from chapter 1-5) Based on the novel Fall Things Apart written by Chinua Achebe, the author managed to describe about the clan of the Nigerian on the way of life, customs and tradition explicitly. There are many reasons of this success which make the readers become interested to know and keep reading his book. The element of conflicts which the author has been enlighten in this novel
