Recently SYMC found that many Scan-100 users may have some difficulties in operating the Scan-100 for their use. Statistics show that there are several main subjects which are most frequently asked, and for that reason, SYMC releases this service bulletin.

Trouble shoot'g
A. In case of that the D-Card program is impossible to be updated. 1.First of all, please check the version of the D-Card. You can see the version no. when you turn on the Scan tool. If the version is before October 2000, the D-Card should be updated with the new version. 2.If failed to transfer the data, please reset the PC through operating Prompt Only Mode on MS-DOS and then try to transfer again because the program card maybe defect. B. After removing D-Card, Scan-100 shows "NO PCMCIA CARD". 1.Please check that there happens the same problem as after removing D-Card. If the problem still open, there is some problem on Hardware. 2.If the Scan-100 operates normally which means that the Scan-100 shows "NO PCMCIA CARD", please download the program with installation CD which has been provided with Scan-100. If there happens the same problem after downloading, the program card may be defective.

C. The procedure of Scan-100 Update 1. Turn the Scan-100 off . 2. Connect communication port of PC to left input port of Scan-100 by using a download communication cable named RS 232 connector. 3. Press "PWR" key in pushing a HOTKEY.("YES"+"NO"+"2") And then screen of Scan-100 shall be display the "DOWN READY". 4. Perform a SCAN LOAD program. Please refer to the file "Dwscan-e.doc"

D. In case the Scanload program is not available at Windows NT. If your customers have only Windows NT in O/S, please use the " MS-DOS Prompt Only " into Re-Booting, and then do download using " POW384.EXE ". E. No supply power to Scan-100. 1. Check point a. Check the AC/DC adapter or the main connector cable to confirm the normal power supply. b. Remove the battery at Scan-100, and use the cable to supply power to Scan-100. (for check a main body) 2. After doing the above procedure, If the Scan-100 does not work normal, it is due to the Scan-100 problem. In case of No.2, you should send us Scan-100 main body to repair. F. Main cable self test (Main comm(loop back)test) All communication to diagnose the PCM of SYMC vehicle is done through main connector at the bottom of the Scan-100. 1.Selection "5" key at Self test menu, Main communication test screen will be displayed.

2.If there is on the screen, loop back test mode will be displayed. If there is error on SIO(Serial Input/Output) of main board, the error message "ERROR" for the appropriate SIO-NO. appears. 3.Connect the main loop back adapter to Scan-100 on this loop back mode condition and push the "ENTER" key. 4.Push "ENTER" key, the main communication test results will be displayed automatically. 5.After doing the above procedure, If the Scan-100 does not work normal, the Scan-100 bugs. In case of NO 5, you should send us Scan-100 main body to repair.
