ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMME


Applications are inv ited for admission to Ph.D. Programme for an academic session 2014-2015 in various disci plines of Engineering Technol ogy/ Chemical Technology/ Bio-Technology/ Information & Communicati on Technology/ Medicine & Para Medical Health Sciences/ Management/ Envi ronmental Sciences/ Basi c & Applied Sci ences/ Humanities & Soci al Sciences/ Law & Legal Studies/ Mass Communicati on/ Education in different University School of Studies (USS) and Approved Research Centres (ARC).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
An applicant possessi ng any one of the followi ng qualifications shall be eli gible to apply for admi ssion to Ph.D. programme in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. (i) A Master s Degree i n Engineering & Technology/ Sciences/ Humani ties/ Social Sciences/ Mass Communicati on/ Medi cine/ Law/ Education/ Management from a recognized University approved by Association of Indi an Univ ersities/AICTE/ UGC/ MCI/ Bar Council or any other equivalent qualification to the sati sfaction of Academic Council of the University duly approved by equivalence committee of the Univ ersi ty, in the relevant field, with not less than 60% marks in aggregate.

(ii)(a) Applicants with a Bachelors degree i n Engineering & Technology with ei ther 75% or more marks in aggregate and a mini mum of three years or 60% or more marks in aggregate and a mi ni mum of fifteen years relevant experience in recognized Institute/ Universi ty/ Industry/ Gov ernment Organization may be consi dered eligible for admissi on on the recommendation of SRC and approval by BOS. (ii)(b) Applicants with MBBS Degree with either 60% or more marks i n aggregate and a minimum of three years or 50% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of 15 years relev ant experience in Recognized Govt. Hospital/ Organi zation may be consi dered eligible for admi ssion on the recommendation of SRC and approval by the BOS. (iii) (iv ) For appli cants bel onging to SC/ST category and/or physical ly handicapped a relaxati on of 5% in marks shall be admissi bl e under eli gibility condi tions. Teachers working in any University or i ts affiliated colleges and havi ng a teaching/ research/ other relevant experi ence of not less than 3 years may be allowed a relaxati on of 5% marks under clause (i ). Provided that out of the two relaxations stipul ated under cl auses (ii i) and (iv ) onl y one relaxation i s permi ssible for an applicant. (v) Perspective Research Candidate generall y shall not have completed an age of 55 years at the time of submission of appli cation for admissi on to Ph.D. Programme. A relaxation in the prescribed age beyond 55 years can, however, be recommended by the SRC/BOS wi th appropri ate justifi cation recorded and for final approval by the Vi ce-Chancellor.

ADMISSIO N PROCEDURE
All the applicants shall have to appear for Research Apti tude Test (RAT) except foreign nationals. RAT examination will comprise of t wo sections except for University School of Medicine & Para Medical Health Sciences (USMPMHS) as follows:

*Note:

Subject Specific Test will also be of Multiple Choice Questi ons except for Universi ty School of Humani ties & Soci al Sci ences (USHSS). For USHSS 50% questions will be MCQ type and remaining 50% questions will be subjective type.

Duration of test will be 3 hours. Each correct ans wer of MCQ type question shall be awarded 4 marks and for wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted. For University School of Medicine & Para Medical Health Sci ences (USMPMHS), Research Aptitude Test (RAT) wi ll be of 3 hours with both sections of General Aptitude Test (GAT) (Multiple Choice Questions onl y). In all University School of Studi es (USS) except USMPMHS Section I i s a qualifying test and short-listing of candidates wil l be based on marks secured in Secti on II. The shortli sted candidates will be called for an interview and final merit list will be prepared on the basi s of marks secured in section II and interview (except USMPMHS). Both will have equal wei ghtage. RAT has to be conducted by GGSIP University. Codes for USS/ Subject Specific Discipline and syllabii for different Subject Specific Tests as giv en in Annexure I i s avail able on the Univ ersity Website: http://www.ipu.ac.in. Original documents related to educational qualificati on wil l be verified at the time of i nterv iew. A candidate working in an organization/institute shall produce "no objection certificate" from the empl oyer at the ti me of intervi ew.

Instructions for filling up Research Aptitude Test (RAT) application forms: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. The candidates must read all the important instructions before filling up the Application Form. A detailed procedure for filling up the application form is available on University website http://www.ipu.ac.in under the link Procedure to fill online application forms. The candidate should choose the exam category as Ph.D. in the online application form. The candidate should enter his or her relevant details and upload a current clear photograph of size as mentioned with his or her signature. Relevant course for R.A.T. should be chosen and payment of application fee of : 750/- (Rs. Seven Hundred Fifty only) must be made online. Only a single course may be chosen by the candidate. List of the various subjects/ courses offered for Ph.D. by various schools is also available at University website http://www.ipu.ac.in.
