Importance of Birth Time Rectification: Astrology is practiced by Hindus, right from the vedic period.

Astrology is based on astronomical rules and calculation. Astrology is based on the movement and position of grahas (celestial planets) in the zodiac. When we come to know that Hindus of vedic period had the deep knowledge of astronomy, and we arriving at the almost correct position of the planets and ascendant i.e. Lagna. They we able to predict even the eclipses, correct to minutes and seconds. They had their own way of calculations. They were masters in astronomy and astrology. In fact when there were no print media available in olden days, astronomers and astrologers are one and same. All renowned astrologers are good astrolonmers. Every astrologer calculated the movement of celestial bodies for themselves. They were fixing the timings for various events and festivals and seasons and even eclipses. Only when the print media developed, to print the almanacs and panchangams astronomy and astrology have become different branches. Astronomers calculated the movement of planets and ascendants. Astrologers have fixed events, and festivals based on the planetary positions. It is a pity that more than 90% of present day astrologers are not having even the basic knowledge of astronomy. Before the advent of computers and softwares for astrology, even some 20 years back, we have to do manual calculations to ascertain the lagna and other planetary positions, thithi , dasa balance etc., and casted horoscopes manually. The author of the write up aged 63 presently has undergone strenuous training to do manually the casting works. It took several hours of numerical work to caste a horoscope with graham and bhava sputas. It took several hours to do the ashtavarga calculation and other divisional charts calculation. The drudgery of this is over due to the astrology programmes and computers. Majority of todays astrologers are not aware of the difference between vedic/vakya and dirk ganitha panchangs. Though there are accurate clocks available, to note the time of an event, people are keeping the clocks at different levels i.e fast or slow, for their own reasons. So to caste a correct horoscope we should know the correct birth time. So we have to rectify the birth time, before casting the horoscope, so tha the predictions based on it will be correct. This birth time rectification called Nashta Jathaga Ganitham, is not fine tuned to satisfactory levels till our Guruji Jyothis Marthand, Shri K.S.Krishnamurthy perfected a fool proof method to correct the birth times. The success rate is more than 90% in KP Ruling Planet Method . The ruling planets of time of judgement is related to the Lagna Star, sub and Sign Lord and Moon Star, sub and Sign Lords.
