Giving Program By Ryan Scott, 1/31/2014 In all aspect, leadership has always been important. According to John D. Rockefeller, good leadership consists of showing average people how to do the work of superior people. This quote can be applied in most managements. In his paper, Ryan Scott identified the Five Ways to Get Leadership Engaged In Your Employee Volunteer and Giving Program and made me learn that both the leader and his subordinates have responsibilities to get hold of the organizations goal. According to Ryan Scott (2014), there are five useful steps in getting leadership engaged in employee volunteer and giving program. First is attending volunteering events. Leaders should initiate the program more than anyone else. It seems that the author wants to show to all leaders how to become a model to their subordinate. An instance is being on time for work. Next is sending some emails. I agree on what author said, Whatever the communication, just communicate, expressing your concern and making them feel important. Making them feel that they exist is one of the factors in every relationship that will lead to open communication. Third is putting your money where your mouth is, in addition to Scott, speak like a man and do what you promise to do. I felt that you can gain respect in showing them that you are not lying, and you are keeping your words. Further, boarding up is also helpful. Scott also noted that there is no excuse of not getting involve and I agree on that; he also want to imply that if you can do something that will help your leader, then propose a hand. Lastly, celebrating success may also be helpful. I think it would be just fair if employee are recognize by its job success, these would encourage other to perform well in order experience the feeling of being recognize by leader or co-employee. These five steps are helpful to have direction in the volunteer and giving programs of the employees. Moreover, after reading the article I learned that a leader should take responsibility to get hold of the organizations goal and give complete attention on the needs of the member not just for the organization but also for the whole community. I felt that there must be misunderstanding between the top management and lower management that are causing conflicts between each values. Also, I agree that leader should set good examples to hold respect of everyone. A good and responsible leadership will also help raise the morale of every member and help them gain confidence to voice out their opinions and suggestions. On the other hand, I disagree in the idea that only the leader should take full responsibility in performing leadership; subordinates should also take initiatives in doing duties that will be beneficial to the whole organization.

In conclusion, leaders are selected because they have the traits and ability to lead the organization. They also have the power to deliberate task and enforce the law. Leadership is not attaining by the leader itself but also with the members that are united in one goal.
