In your life experience, what is the best advice that you have ever received?

In my whole life, the best advice that I had received is from a lecturer that I had known way back. He inspires me in a way that I am now able to open my eyes towards the future. He mentioned that If a teacher doesnt teach in class, why the students should go to school? Even if his advice is simple, yet I find it full of wisdom and intellectually accurate. I had an experience of teaching the remedial classes and I discover the importance of teaching and learning in school. For a teacher, it is important to know the foundations of teaching itself before even consider of delivering the content of knowledge to the students. There are a lot of theories that can be applied in the classroom such as classroom management theories, learning theories and so on. The classroom management theories are mostly to help teachers to be able to control the behaviour and attitude of learners in class with the best possible method. In other words, to be able to teach properly, teacher also must have the ability to handle his/her students well too. Theorist like Vygotsky, Piaget, Skinner, Bandura and so on help teachers in managing his/her classroom in the aspect of intellectual, social and emotionally. These theorist mostly focuses on the benefits of the students and how they interact or react to certain situations. Some of them stresses on using constructivism approach in teaching, while others focuses into behaviourism. When I was teaching the remedial classes, I uses more to behaviourism theories as their proficiency level is not at par with the curriculum standards or specification of the school. Although teachers must teach students with the best of her/his ability, he/she must also know his/her students well. The relationship between the teacher and the students is important as interaction between them is what makes the learning meaningful. It is the teachers duty to cultivate a sense of belonging in class as well as makes the students to be comfortable and loved by peers and others. If a teacher does not teach anything in class, what is the use that students attend classes every weekday and does not learn anything through the timeframe. More or less, it is the responsibility of the teacher to be responsible towards their job profession and put their priorities more towards the profession of teaching. However, the advice given does not only scope on schools and teachers only. It can be a doctor and a patient, a police and criminals, parents and their children. The advice has really given me a lot of values in my life. I look at the world in a different light and able to use my rational thinking in whichever difficult situation that I faced.
