Explanations concerning Draft Amendment NORM EN 13445-2/A3

The present Draft European Standard EN 13445-2:2002/prA3:2008 has been submitted to CEN members for voting. In case of a positive result of the voting as required by CEN/CENELEC regulations, this Amendment will be incorporated in EN 13445-2:2002. With the exception of the Amendment included in the present Draft, the content of the basic document EN 13445-2:2002 remains unchanged. Interested parties can acquire the above mentioned basic document from the Austrian Standards Institute and/or consult it free of charge. Like all member organizations of CEN, ON is basically obliged to implement European Standards in Austria and to withdraw conflicting standards. ON herewith submits this Draft Amendment of a European Standard as Draft NORM to public enquiry and information.

This draft amendment is submitted to CEN members for unique acceptance procedure. It has been drawn up by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 54. This draft amendment A3, if approved, will modify the European Standard EN 13445-2:2002. If this draft becomes an amendment, CEN members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of this amendment into the relevant national standard without any alteration. This draft amendment was established by CEN in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the responsibility of a CEN member into its own language and notified to the CEN Management Centre has the same status as the official versions. CEN members are the national standards bodies of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

This document (EN 13445-2:2002/prA3:2008) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 54 Unfired pressure vessels, the secretariat of which is held by BSI. This document is currently submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure. This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EC Directive(s). For relationship with EC Directive(s), see informative Annex ZA which is an integral part of this document. This document includes the text of the amendment itself. The corrected pages of EN 13445-2 will be delivered as issue xx of the standard.

Requirements for materials to be used for pressure-bearing parts

The text of clause 4.3.1 shall be changed to read as follows: 4.3.1 European Standards

The European Standards for plates, strips, bars, tubes, forgings and castings for pressure purposes shall be used.
NOTE 1 Table D.2-1 provides an overview on materials for pressure purposes specified in harmonised standards.

NOTE 2 Table D.1-1 contains an informative summary of European Materials Standards referred to and of European Standards covering components of pressure parts.

Special provisions due to fabrication and operation shall be taken into account, if appropriate.
