Activities

1. Teacher introduces characters using her thumbs. 2. Teacher tells a story of Mr. Wiggle and Mr. Waggle with actions using fingers and pupils listen. 3. Pupils perform the actions together with the teacher while teacher retells the story. 4. Questions and answers session based on the story. 5. Pupils guess the ending of the story.

MR. WIGGLE AND MR. WAGGLE


This is the story of Mr. Wiggle and Mr. Waggle. Mr. Wiggle lived in this house, And Mr. Waggle lived in this house. (Hold up two thumbs, fists closed, and look at each thumb as you say their name) One day, Mr. Wiggle decided to visit his best friend Mr. Waggle. So, he opened the door, POP! And he came outside, POP! And he closed the door, POP! (Open right palm, pop up your thumb, and close your fist .) He went up the hill and down the hill Up the hill and down the hill Up the hill and down the hill Until he got to Mr. Waggles house.

(Thumb points up,then down ,up and down again , up and down again until the thumb meets the house ( fist ) of the other hand) He knocked on the door. Knock, knock, knock Hello, Mr. Waggle....Oh Mr Waaaaaaggle (Knock one fist on the other and call out) But there was no answer. so Mr. Wiggle knocked louder and called out a little bit louder, "Oh Mr. Waaaaaaggle (Knock one fist on the other and call out louder) But there was no answer, so Mr. Wiggle knocked even louder, and called out,

"Oh Mr. Waaaaaaggle


but there was still no answer. (Knock one fist on the other and call out louder) So Mr. Wiggle decided to go home. So he went up the hill and down the hill Up the hill and down the hill Up the hill and down the hill Until he got to his house. (Thumb points up,then down ,up and down again , up and down again until the thumb meets the house ( fist ) of the other hand)

He opened the door, POP! And he went inside, POP! And he closed the door, POP! (Open right palm, pop up your thumb, and close your fist .) Later, Mr. Waggle decided he would go visit Mr. Wiggle. (repeat the same story for Mr. Waggle)

READING
World of Stories Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle 60 mins 2.1.2, 2.2.3 By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to : a) blend phonemes into words and read them aloud b) read the story with correct pronunciation and intonation

Activities

1. Teacher reviews previous lesson. 2. Teacher shows the word cards to the pupils and read them aloud. 3. Teacher picks a volunteer to read the story. The other pupils will read after him. 4. Pupils jumble up the letter cards to form words. 5. Pupils are asked to blend the words. 6. Pupils are divided into group of five and given envelope containing pieces of letter cards. 7. Pupils create words using the given letter cards and list down the words on their exercise book. 8. Teacher calls a representative from each group to present their work.

Activities

1. Teacher reviews the story. 2. Pupils are divided into group of five. 3. Teacher distributes task sheet for each group. 4. Pupils complete the configuration clues with the words in group. 5. Group that completes the task first will be the winner. 6. Teacher teaches the punctuation (capital letters and full stop ). 6. Teacher distributes a worksheet to pupils. Pupils fill in the blanks with correct words and rewrite the story with correct punctuation. 7. Teacher discusses answers with the pupils.
