IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
ENTRY FEES: All checks must be made payable to MILK RIVER MOTORSPORTS. All payments must be made THE DAY OF THE EVENT to Milk River Motorsports at the registration trailer located in the pits. All cars MUST be tech-ed in by 4pm to appear in the program; all cars tech-ed in after 4pm will not be in the program. Driver AND pit crew must sign the release; No substitution for driver or pit crew.

RULE CHANGES:
As with any event, the rules change. Here are the current rule changes to our event: Engine and transmission must be in factory location; subject to judges discretion. Cover any excessive firewall holes. H brace: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Drivers safety will be assessed by Judges; subject to judges discretion. Gas Tanks: NO STOCK TANKS, NO MAKE-SHIFT TANKS and 6 gallon MAXIMUM; these rules will be strictly enforced! Transmission lines: MANDATORY high pressure or steel lines; NO GAS LINE. Any car disqualified in the Final Heat due to two (2) fires or two (2) rollovers will retain its standing the final placing. Drivers will decide during the Drivers Meeting what the previous events Pit Pass money will be allocated to. Heat winners, Best Paint, Most Aggressive Driver, etc.

GENERAL RULES:
JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT IN THE RULES, IT DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN DO IT. DONT ASSUME; CALL!
1. ABSOLUTELY NO ARGUING WITH THE JUDGES! 2. No limit to the number of cars that may enter. 3. Cars must be on the grounds between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The gate will be locked after 4:00 pm unless you call ahead. 4. All drivers will meet at 5:00 pm; Attendance is mandatory. The Calcutta will start at 6:00 pm & the derby at 7:00 pm. 5. No pickups allowed. 6. Cars must be: Stock Kept family to family; NO CROSS BREEDING!

7. NO ONE IN THE PITS BUT DRIVERS AND PITMEN. Entry fee of $100 includes the driver and two pitmen. If more than two pitmen per entry, an additional fee of $25/pitmen is due. All drivers and pitmen must complete IN FULL a release form and submit complete payment BEFORE the derby. 8. Drivers must be 18 years of age or older with a valid drivers license. Drivers 16 years and older may pa rticipate with parental signature. 9. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN THE PITS. Both drivers and pitmen are not permitted to drink alcoholic beverages before or during the event. Participants suspected of intoxication will be confronted by the Derby Staff and required to take a breathalyzer test provided by the Valley County Sheriffs Department and/or the local Police Department. Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification without refund and removal from the grounds at the discretion of the VC Sherriffs Dept and/or the local Police Dept. Failure to pass a breathalyzer will result in immediate disqualification without refund and removal from the grounds at the discretion of the VC Sherriffs Dept and/or the local Police Dept.

**Participants are encouraged to notify a Derby Staff Member of any/all drivers or pitmen that are suspected to be intoxicated before or during the event.**

ARENA REGULATIONS:
1. All cars MUST be equipped with seat belts. 2. All drivers MUST wear DOT approved helmet and eye protection such as goggles, safety glasses or shield. 3. Each car will be provided a white flag after inspection. The white flag will be raised at such a time that the car is no longer in fit condition to participate, when the car has been timed out by the judges or when the driver has been disqualified. 4. Utmost care must be taken when entering or exiting the arena. 5. Each car will be required to perform a brake check before entering the arena. 6. No tools in cars or in the arena during the event. 7. Drivers will have three (3) minutes from last call to have their cars in the arena. 8. Anyone leaving his/her car before the heat is ended will be disqualified. Exceptions will be made in case of an emergency at the judges discretion. EX: Fire, tranny line break, battery explosion, gas leak etc. 9. NO DRIVERS DOOR HITS. Any hit to a drivers door under power will result in immediate disqualification. 10. Any stalled car must start and initiate contact with another car every two (2) minutes. Being hit by another car does not count. If your car is running, you must make a hit every one (1) minute under power or be disqualified. 11. NO HEAD ON COLLISIONS. 12. NO DOUBLE TEAMING. 13. In the event of a hang up, the event will NOT be stopped to separate cars with the exception of the last two (2) cars during the main event; Subject to judges decision. 14. If three (3) or more wheels are outside the berm, the car will be eliminated from the heat but will maintain his/her place. 15. If black-flagged in a heat race, you are disqualified from that heat. You may come back through the consolation heat. 16. If black flagged during the main event, you are disqualified and you forfeit your position and placing. 17. One (1) fire may be extinguished; Two (2) fires and youre disqualified from that heat. You may come back through the consolation heat. 18. If disqualified due to two (2) fires, the car in question will retain its place. 19. If you are in a rollover, you are disqualified from that heat. You may come back through the consolation heat. 20. If disqualified due to two (2) rollovers, the car in question will retain its place. 21. The winner(s) of each heat will pull his/her car into the restricted area in the arena. There will be fifteen (15) minutes after the consolation heat to prepare cars for the main event. 22. If judges suspect a participant of stalling, pinning or otherwise increasing their own odds of winning, they will be subject to immediate disqualification and dropped out of the top 5 places. 23. Any Heat or Consolation protests must be made before the beginning of the following heat. Any Main Event protest must be made within fifteen (15) minutes after the main event. In the event of a protest, approach a Derby Staff Member and notify them you would like to protest a call. NO ARGUING WITH THE JUDGES.

IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION WILL RESULT IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING OCCUR:


1. DRIVERS DOOR HIT UNDER POWER. 2. REMOVAL OF SEAT BELT, HELMET OR EXITING THE CAR for any reason during the event. Exceptions will be made in case of an emergency at the judges discretion. Ex: Fire, tranny line break, battery explosion, gas leak, etc. 3. OUT OF BOUNDS. Boundaries will be marked with a dirt berm; three (3) wheels out of bounds, the car will be eliminated from the heat but will maintain his/her place. 4. IT IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DRIVER TO ENSURE HIS FLAG IS KEPT UP AND VISIBLE if/when he/she is flagged out. If a flagged car is hit by an active driver and the flag is not visible, the flagged car is disqualified. If a flagged car is hit by an active car while the flag is visible, the active car is disqualified. 5. HITTING A FLAGGED CAR. If a driver hits a stalled car that has a visible white flag, that driver is subject to immediate disqualification at the judges discretion. 6. FAILURE TO HIT ANOTHER CAR EVERY ONE (1) MINUTE. A hit must be made under power; hitting a disqualified car does not count. Being hit by an active car does not count. Rocking hung up cars does not count. 7. FAILURE TO START ENGINE AND INITIATE CONTACT WITHIN TWO (2) MINUTES. A hit must be made under power; hitting a disqualified car does not count. Being hit by an active car does not count. Rocking hung up cars does not count. 8. MOVING YOUR CAR FOR ANY REASON AFTER YOUR FLAG IS UP. When your flag is up, turn off your engine. 9. DRIVER/PITCREW INTOXICATION. Absolutely no alcohol is allowed in the pit before and during the event. If
intoxication is suspected, the driver and/or pitcrew will be required to take a breathalyzer test conducted by the VC Sheriffs Dept and/or the local Police Dept. Failure to comply or failure to pass a breathalyzer will result in immediate disqualification without refund and removal from the grounds at the discretion of the VC Sherriffs Dept and/or the local Police Dept.

10. APPARENT DISREGARD OF ANY OF THE ABOVE STATED RULES. If any driver is suspected of disregarding any rules stated here or by a judge during the rules meeting, they will be subject to immediate disqualification at the judges discretion.

CAR BUILDING REGULATIONS:


STRIPPING THE CAR:
All glass must be removed. No chrome, no headliners, no reflectors and no backseats. Original gas tank must be removed. All debris must be removed. Anything flammable must be removed. No alterations will be allowed to cars such as: sandbags, reinforced bumpers, etc. NO WELDING on fresh cars unless specified in the rules.

FRESH CARS:
Frame: NO excess welding NO pre-bending Bumpers: Shock absorbers may be drilled, collapsed, welded and chained to car. OEM only, plus chains. You may weld or cut your bumpers to the shock absorber; NO added material. You may remove bumper corners. NO trailer hitches. NO reinforced bumpers. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Radiator and core support: Radiator must be in stock location. NO extra radiators. NO fans. Max ready rod from frame to the top of hood; Max 6 above hood. You may take out core support body mounts. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Hood: Must be welded OR chained closed. Max eight (8) hood bolt points; may be welded to car. Six (6) bolts/two (2) chains OR eight (8) bolts; hood hinges count as one (1) bolt point/hinge Max eight (8) 1 dia x 6 L Max eight (8) 4 x 4 x washers Max two (2) 5/16 3/8 chains; Tails no longer than 6 when tightly secured. NO SLACK. Boomers are permitted; must be securely closed. Must have min 6 hole cut in hood for fire suppression; cut-outs for headers will meet the requirements. Max six (6) 3/8 bolts spaced 6 apart min may be used to reinforce the hood. Max 1 ready-rod through frame in core support ONLY; it may extend through the hood. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Engine and engine compartment: NO CROSSBREEDING; Family to family only. Chaining of engine is permitted; subject to judges discretion.

Engine in stock location with stock motor mounts; subject to judges discretion. Motor mounts may be welded in place. May weld top seam ONLY from A arms forward; Max two (2) inches. NO skid plates. NO WELDING OF CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Cover any excessive firewall holes.

Fenders: Cutting of front and rear fenders is permitted; 3 max. Rolling and bolting of front and rear fenders is permitted; 3 max. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Body and doors: No replacement of body mounts. Mounts must be in stock location with stock bolts. No foreign material of any kind; only OEM parts. Mandatory windshield brace from roof to firewall. Post, square tubing, angle iron and/or chain all permitted; expanded metal screen optional. One chain per door. Tails no longer than 6 when tightly secured. Chains must be tight; NO SLACK. Min 5/16 Max 3/8 link. Log chain only; no roller chain. Drivers door: Welds MAY exceed 2 on DRIVERS DOOR ONLY; May be welded to Drivers discretion. Drivers door may be secured at drivers discretion; MUST BE PAINTED WHITE. NO roof/trunk/hood obstacles allowed during the event. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Driver safety enhancement: Passenger post; 3 dia max extending from frame to roof. H brace; 3 max extending from passenger post to drivers side post. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Drivers safety will be assessed by Judges; subject to judges discretion. N brace; 3 dia max extending from passenger post to drivers side post. Door bar; 12 W max. May extend 6 before and 6 after the door parallel to the ground. Must be bolted in 3 places. Dash bar; 3 dia max. Max 3/8 x 6 x 6 flat iron to mount dash bar. NO tying H brace to dash bar 3 dia x 1 L kicker off H brace allowed. Drivers apparel: Helmet mandatory; must be DOT approved. Eye protection required; goggles or sunglasses permitted. Jeans and closed toed shoes are required Long sleeves and gloves recommended. Cowboy collar or other neck protection recommended. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Cab: Batteries: Max of two (2) Must be completely enclosed in a solid container that will contain acid and battery parts should it be broken, punctured or explode. Battery box must be securely fastened; no tarp straps, seat belt material, ratchet strap or wire. Battery box must be located in the front passenger side of the cab. Transmission coolers: Must be sealable. Must be securely fastened; no tarp straps, seat belt material, ratchet strap or wire. NO fuel line; Must use high pressure line. May have fan for tranny cooler. All tranny coolers are subject to judges approval. Call before you build it! Flag holder:

MANDATORY; will be provided to each driver at the time of check-in. Must be welded to drivers side windshield post at 90 Dimensions: 6 tall max 2 round min Gas tank: NO STOCK GAS TANKS NO MAKE-SHIFT TANKS 6 gallon MAXIMUM; This will be strictly enforced! Tank must be securely fastened Tank must be located behind drivers seat. Fuel: Gasoline and Diesel fuel allowed. NO alcohol. Fire extinguisher: MANDATORY Must be accessible to the driver Must be securely mounted; Subject to judges approval. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion.

Transmission: NO CROSSBREEDING. MANDATORY high pressure or steel tranny lines; NO GAS LINE. Must be in factory location; subject to judges discretion. Floor may be cut out to accommodate tranny at the drivers discretion; No larger than 2 gap on all sides. Shifter must be approved for safety; must have ball, bend or other cap and must not have rough edges. Chaining of the transmission is permitted; no metal straps. NO skid plates. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Rear end: NO CROSSBREEDING. Five (5) bolt only; NO six (6) or eight (8) bolt rear ends. Welding, spools and locked rear ends are permitted. No blocking of springs. No tires between frame and differential. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion. Trunk: Must be welded OR chained closed. Max one (1) bolt every six (6) inches. Max 3/8 dia x 4 L Max 4 x 4 x washers May remove body mounts; Max 4 top, 4 bottom with bolts. Max two (2) 5/16 3/8 chains; Tails no longer than 6 when tightly secured. NO SLACK. Boomers are permitted; must be securely closed. Must have two (2) 9 x 9 inspection holes. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion . Wheels and tires: ALL CARS MUST HAVE WORKING BRAKES AND ARE SUBJECT TO A BRAKE TEST. Wheels and tires MUST have painted distinguishing marks. If you do not have visible distinguishing marks, they WILL be painted by a judge before the event. Wheels must be steel; no cast aluminum or alloy wheels. NO studded tires, wheel weights, double stuffed tires or ballast in tires; tire flaps are permitted. 16 rims max DOT only; NO implement tires. NO WELDING ON CAR unless previously stated; all welds subject to judges discretion.

Paint and decals: NO WHITE CARS Drivers door MUST be painted white; hitting a drivers door while under power will result in immediate disqualification; subject to judges discretion. Must be numbered on both sides; roof number optional. Numbers must be a min of 24 in height. Roof numbers recommended; Spectators, judges and announcers appreciate roof numbers. No roof/hood/trunk obstacles permitted during the event. If duplicate numbers occur, first car to have registered keeps the number. Second car must change his/her number.

PRE-DERBIED CARS:
ALL PRE-DERBIED CARS ARE SUBJECT TO JUDGES APPROVAL; Call before you build! Pre-derbied cars will be allowed only if there is: OEM ONLY NO WELDING of doors, trunks, fenders or any other sheet metal, unless previously stated. NO added metal to bumpers, body, doors, hoods or trunks, unless previously stated. Pre-derbied cars must follow Fresh car rules with the following exceptions: o o o o o Fenders: May be cut, hammered or rolled subject to judges approval; 3 removal, bend or roll maximum. NO WELDING Frames: Broken frame may be welded; Max 3/16 x 3 x 3 plate, 1 on either side of break All welding subject to judges approval. Original Condition: Cars may be brought back to their original condition or state as much as possible: Frame straightened Trunk bent

ALL drivers are allowed AND encouraged to inspect the other participants cars.
