Introduction Show youtube clip of a skilled cricket pace bowler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HTeTvAZxdc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dnju_lP88Uc Have class identify key teaching points in the bowlers technique. Have class show how to hold a cricket ball for a pace bowl. Main activities Students go off in pairs and practice bowling to each other. Have an area marked out between pairs for them to aim their bowl so it bounces once in that area and to the partner. Field ball: A soccer/cricket hybrid where students throw the ball to each other and have to bowl the ball into a small goals guarded by a goal keeper. Lesson closure Hands up what do we know about bowling? In preparation to our lesson on video capture and analysis next lesson we will be practicing our pace bowling technique some more.

Introduction Go over goals/objectives of todays lesson Explain each activities and how they link to objectives Create groups of 4 Main activities Have an area marked out between pairs for them to aim their bowl so it bounces once in that area and to the partner. Have measured cricket pitch, with several markers scatted within, students have to hit each marker. Have 6 bowls each. Penalty bowling, 3 students bowling towards small soccer goals, remaining student is goal keeper, rotate accordingly when goalie catches a ball. Using a full length pitch, students bowl towards cricket stumps and try and hit them, when they do, remove a stump, target gets smaller. Student bowling follows their ball and becomes wicket keeper; wicket keeper goes to end of the bowling line. Play field ball Lesson closure Bring iPad to next lesson for video capture Homework: find a good YouTube clip of a profession bowler that you can use to compare to your video.

Introduction Watch a section from a YouTube clip of the phases in Brett lees bowling technique. (Brett Lee is a famous cricketer, which kids can identify with) Introduce the lesson objectives of video capture and analysis for the purpose of improving their technique. (Linking what they are doing in class to what was done in the YouTube clip gives them a sense of purpose, and a perceived sense of profession development) Main activities Students have time to Video capture 1 member of group performing a pace bowl. Go through how to gather data from the video using dartfish on the projector while students follow along with iPads Identify weak points in technique and suggest 1 improvement that can be made to the students technique and why. Lesson closure Class discussion about the evaluation process and the app. Next lesson, anatomy of the arm. So bring iPads.

Games and Sport: Learning the bowling aspect of cricket. Fundamental movement skills: Refine that skill through evaluation and feedback. Generate solutions to learning area tasks: Using ICT to assist in develop a fundamental movement.

Introduction Reviewing the student knowledge of the musculoskeletal system with a short game of simon says using muscle terminology as the stimulus. Define palpate with an example so the student can do it during the next activity. Main activities In groups of 4, using the ProHealth app, students identify the muscles that are activated in the arm during the different phases of the bowl. 1 students use iPad, 2 students go through the motion and pinpoint the muscles, 1 student labels diagram. Worksheet activity: label a diagram of the arm, with space provided to name the movement each muscle is responsible for. Each student copies the answers from the worksheet so they all have a copy. Explain the implications of knowing what muscles are involved in the bowl from a sport science perspective. Lesson closure Have students think up some other uses for the ProHealth app. Collect worksheets for marking.

Generate solutions to learning area tasks: Using ICT to assist in develop of understanding movement.
