Hierarchical
Holographic
Model
for
Safety
at
Beaver
Stadium

By
using
Hierarchical
Holographic
Modeling
(HHM),
our
group
examined
the
key
risk
issue

concerning
the
safety
of
people
at
Beaver
Stadium.

We
explored
the
factors
that
shape
risk
in

Beaver
Stadium
according
to
the
different
perspectives
of
the
people
attending
the
event.

In
defining
the
different
perspectives,
we
included
the
different
roles
people
may
take
on
during
the

event.

The
roles
of
the
people
in
the
stadium
during
the
event
include:

o Event
Coordinators

o Security
Personnel

o Ushers

o
Vendors
&
Concessions

o Pep
Band
and/or
Motivators

o Emergency
Services

o Press

o Participants

o
Attendees

In
this
instance
we
define
the
event
coordinators
as
those
who
are
responsible
for
keeping
the

event
flowing
and
organized.

For
example,
at
a
football
game,
they
would
be
in
charge
of

coordinating
who
plays
music
when.

In
our
analysis,
we
allowed
the
security
personnel
to
range

from
stadium
hired
security
to
state
law
enforcement
brought
in
for
major
events.

The
pep
band

and/or
motivators
perspective
includes
the
band,
cheerleaders,
dance
team,
and
the
mascot.

These

perspectives
all
became
our
head
topics.

After
defining
the
head
topics,
we
identified
sub‐topics,
that
being
factors
that
shape
risk,
for
each

point
of
view.

Examples
of
these
sub‐topics
include:
attendee
mood
and
behavior,
attendee

accessories,
condition
of
the
field,
and
so
on.
After
we
were
satisfied,
we
did
some
cross‐checking
to

be
sure
we
included
all
relevant
safety
issues
for
each
perspective.

We
then
found
that
a
few
sub‐
topics
were
applicable
to
each
point
of
view.

These
included:

o Weather

o Placement

o Obstacles

o Duration
of
event

o Hydration

o Lighting

Below
is
the

the
HHM
of
our
issue
concerning
the
safety
of
people
at
Beaver
Stadium.

The
boxes
that
are
filled
green
represent
the
sub‐topics
that
are
relevant
to
all
points
of
view,
even

though
the
reason
it
produces
risk
may
vary.

The
boxes
that
are
traced
in
purple
represent
the

sub‐topics
that
would
both
affect
the
point
of
view’s
safety,
as
well
as
affect
the
safety
of
others
in

the
stadium.
