The Power of Dreams is alive and well at Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM). Located in Alliston, Ontario on 750 acres and employing more than 4,200 Associates, HCM is a 45-minute drive north of Toronto and 25 minutes south of Barrie. HCM began production in 1986 leading the way as the first Japanese automobile manufacturer to establish a production facility in Canada. Today, HCM is one of Honda's premier manufacturing facilities in the world producing the Honda Civic Sedan, Si and Coupe; and the Honda CRV vehicles. That is why we are constantly on the lookout for bright, ambitious team players. HCM has an opportunity for a Student available for a 16 month work term beginning May 2014 through September 2015. The successful candidate will become a team member of the Honda of Canada Mfg. Equipment Engineering Group assisting full time members with their project assignments from concept to commissioning. Successful applicants will be exposed to the latest technology in a highly automated manufacturing facility. The responsibilities of this position will include the following: Completion of small projects and task assignments of various degrees of complexity. The size and complexity will depend on the skill, knowledge and initiative of the candidate.

Topics may include, but are not limited to the following: Creation of detailed drawings using AutoCAD. Small to medium sized equipment installations or upgrades including supe rvision of Contractors. Conveyor system modifications. Robotic applications and modifications. PLC programming. Support in conducting Process studies/analysis to determine present and future capital expenditures to target overall efficiency improvements. Support Department activities for ongoing improvements in the areas Safety, Environmental, Quality, Cost and Delivery.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must meet the following criteria: Must be within 8 months of Graduation at the compl etion of the internship term. (currently in year 3 of a 4 year degree, or year 4 of a 5 year degree) Must be a self-starter and have strong motivation skills. Must be willing to work hands on. Must have strong time management and communication skills . Must be willing to work occasional weekends, holidays and a variety of shifts to support equipment installations. Skills in the following areas would also be an asset for this position and will be developed over the course of the work term: Microsoft Office Suite. AutoCAD 2D drafting. (wiring diagrams) Machine Design & Integration. Hands on experience with basic tools and field wiring. PLC Programming. Networking. Robotics and Vision system knowledge. Pneumatics.
