Israel-Palestine Policy Paper Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Keiran Eagen Even though Saudi Arabia recognizes Israel as a state, Saudi Arabia feels that the Palestinians need a state of their own, and the solution that has been created is to follow the United Nations Resolutions created in 1948. The issue between Israelis and Arabs began when European Jews fled to Palestine to seek refuge in their homeland from Nazi rule. Palestinians had already settled and lived in this area and feel that it is their land, but Palestine was never recognized as a state by any of the surrounding Arab countries. The Jews were aloud to seek refuge there but claiming the land and naming it Israel is unfair to the people that already live there. Saudi Arabias participation in the 50 Years War has caused Israel and Saudi Arabia to have a less than diplomatic relationship in the past but Saudi Arabia does support IsraeliPalestinian Peace. Saudi Arabia also supports Arab countries trying to reach peace treaties with Israel. Saudi Arabia views that this conflict could be resolved with the straightforward plan of agreeing to use the United Nations Resolutions. This solution is a viable one because, many unrelated and superfluous elements (Saudi Arabia Con. $US 10) have been injected into the search for a solution. Saudi Arabia feels that the land that Palestinians have right now is not adequate for 5,000,000 (Palestinian Refugee) people. If both Israel and the Palestinian people agree to the 1948 boundaries set by the United Nations there would still be a large amount of land left for Israel but also it would leave enough land for the displaced Palestinians. With resolutions already in place it creates a simple solution for Israel, the Palestinians, and the surrounding Arab states to

follow. The apparent insistence of Israel on carving a state exclusively for the Jewish people on a land that has been inhabited by the Palestinians. (Saudi Arabia Con. $US 10) Israel needs to realize that an exclusive Jewish state will never be possible as long as the Palestinians are still in Israel. If Israel refuses to consent to these resolutions land will be taken by force for the reasons stated before. These two peoples need to share this land that they both claim is their rightful home, following the United Nations resolutions would leave both of them with enough land for both peoples, and give the new generation a brighter future.
