Our film has a 15 certificate, a 15 certificate rating can include: strong language, portrayals of sexual activity, strong verbal references to sex, sexual nudity, brief of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence, discriminatory language or behaviour and drug taking.

In a 15, violence may be strong however it should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury; strong gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. This made a 15 certificate acceptable for our film Resting in Peace as the film is set a few months after the murder of daisy walker so no murder scenes are actually shown, and the information of how she died is suggested through images and past cases on the evidence board instead of actual images gory or not.

This film will probably attract males more than females however we think that due to it being a thriller rather than a gory horror it would attract the female market too. We expect a similar audience to films like: 2 Guns, The Call, The Frozen Ground, The East and The Deadly Game as these are all 15 certificate thriller films, with similar storylines and therefore similar target markets to us.

We wanted to ensure our film met the requirements for a 15 certificate instead of an 18 because otherwise it would limit our target market to a much older audience and could potentially limit our films popularity and profit as it is more likely to be watched by those in the 15+ category who have more spare time to go to the cinema than those in the 18+ section. Also due to our storyline and carefully suggesting the murder and what happened to young Daisy Walker instead of showing it, it allows us to not need any of the guidelines that would make it an 18.

Our film is a 15 and not a 12A/12 because if our 2 minute film was made into a full-length film there would be strong language and therefore would not be able to be classed as anything less than a 15. Despite the two minute film not breaking many of the 12A/12 requirements, we wanted to give the impression that the drama would get a lot more heated as the film progressed only slightly showing DCI Walkers frustration as he slams the door and storms into the evidence room.
