THE ROMAN CATHOLIC

CHURCH
GLOATS
WHEN WE USE 'HER' BIBLES!
The version you're using may very well be one of them!

The Roman Catholic Church, as can be seen here by reading

between the lines in a document from Vatican 2, is pleased as
punch that so many Protestants hold Catholic Bible versions
in their hands and find them in their pews! (Probably even
more so now than in the 1960's when the document was
written!) Here's an excerpt from "Dei Verbum," a Vatican 2
document on "divine revelation":
"22. Easy access to Sacred Scripture should be provided for
all the Christian faithful. That is why the Church from the
very beginning accepted as her own that very ancient Greek
translation; of the Old Testament which is called the
septuagint; and she has always given a place of honor to other
Eastern translations and Latin ones especially the Latin
translation known as the vulgate. But since the word of God
should be accessible at all times, the Church by her authority
and with maternal concern sees to it that suitable and correct
translations are made into different languages, especially from
the original texts of the sacred books. And should the
opportunity arise and the Church authorities approve, if these
translations are produced in cooperation with the separated
brethren as well, all Christians will be able to use them."The
entire document is available for your perusal at:

The truth is, Christian friend, that the New Testament portions
of ALL modern English Bible versions - other than that of the
King James Authorized Version - are translated from Greek
texts made from manuscripts deliberately corrupted in
Constantine's time to reflect doctrines that would later
comprise those of the Roman Catholic system. The New King
James Version's New Testament is translated from the same
text as the King James Authorized Version but is heavily-
influenced by Catholic manuscripts. Please read, "Do We
Have God's Word?" below. And, I strongly encourage you,
do some research of your own on this crucially important
subject!

DO WE HAVE GOD'S WORD?

Has God preserved his word through the ages so that those
who seek it shall find it intact? Yes, He has! For millennia,
God’s chosen people, the Jews, were given the task of
painstakingly copying and guarding each precious word of
the Scriptures they were given. Now that Israel’s program has
been temporarily set aside, we, the Body of Christ, have the
responsibility of keeping the whole of Scripture intact and
pure. This privilege is performed under the superintendence
of God, who has promised to preserve his word. (Psalm 12:6,
7).

The adversary, Satan, has from the beginning devised a policy

of evil against the word of God. His first recorded words in
Scripture are ‘Yea, hath God said...?’ (see Gen. 3:3). Satan’s
policy of evil is to cast doubt on what God has said and to
encourage men to rely on human reasoning instead of every
word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. When the New
Testament manuscripts were penned in the first century A.D.,
Satan wasted no time and attacked at the earliest opportunity.
Paul warned: ‘For we are not as many, which corrupt the
word of God...’ (2 Cor. 2:17a). Peter also spoke of this in 2
Peter 3:16.

A heretic named Origen (185-254 A.D.) deliberately deleted

from, added to, and changed the Scriptures to insert his pagan
philosophies gleaned from the Gnosticism, Platonism, and
Mysticism that were rampant in his day. He believed in
purgatory, transubstantiation, and that Jesus was created and
did not exist eternally with the Father. He declared, “The
Scriptures are of little use to those who understand them as
they were written.” Jerome (340-420 A.D.) was heavily
influenced by Origen when he produced the Latin Vulgate,
officially declared as the Catholic Bible by the Council of
Trent (1546). When Constantine (280?-337 A.D.), Emperor of
Rome, set out to make ‘Christianity’ the official religion, he
knew that it would be helpful to have writings that blended
the popular pagan philosophies with a gloss of Christianity.
To accomplish this, Constantine commissioned Eusebius, an
admirer of Origen, to prepare 50 ‘bibles’ based on Origen’s
corrupt manuscript.

Meanwhile, the manuscripts that contained the preserved

words of God were accepted as genuine by believers who
faithfully copied and widely distributed them. These are
known as the Majority or Byzantine manuscripts. Later, a
Greek text - the Received Text (1550) - was painstakingly
produced using these manuscripts alone, completely rejecting
the corrupted manuscripts. This Received Text was
transmitted word-for-word when the Protestant reformers set
about producing Bibles in their own languages. This faithful
work ultimately produced a version in the excellence and
preciseness of older English, the Authorized King James
Version (1611), renowned among Christians for almost four
centuries for its beauty and exaltation of the deity of Christ.

In 1481 and 1844 respectively, two manuscripts (Vaticanus

and Sinaiticus) that many believe to be of the lot produced by
Eusebius were discovered on properties belonging to the
Roman Catholic Church. The fact that they were ancient but
in excellent condition caused some scholars to conclude that
these were of more worth than the later manuscripts that
belonged to an unbroken line back to those accepted and
worn out through use by early Christians. A Greek text was
prepared from these corrupt manuscripts, along with a
handful of ancient scraps of papyri, by a panel of scholars
headed by Brooke F. Westcott and Fenton J. A. Hort (1881).
These men also held heretical, pro-Catholic beliefs and their
text reflects those; which means that every new version
introduced since that time, including the NIV, the NASB, and
even the New King James, has been made from their Catholic
Greek text, making all the new versions essentially Catholic
bibles! It’s no coincidence that the Roman Catholic Church
accepts all the new versions but vilifies the KJV. It’s also no
coincidence that the use of these Catholic versions has
accounted for much of Protestantism moving closer, and
losing many members, to Rome. Will these Catholic versions,
as they continue to evolve, play a role in the prophesied
establishment of a world religion? Time will tell.

Most Protestants are unaware of the fact that if they are using
one of the new versions introduced since 1881, based on the
Greek text of Westcott and Hort, what they have is a bible that
is not God’s word but a book that contains the subtle
additions, deletions, and changes that Origen, Eusebius, and
Westcott-Hort wanted their bible to have! To compound the
error, each subsequent new version must contain considerable
differences in the text from other versions in order to obtain a
copyright. Many of these versions are ‘dynamic
equivalencies’ and are not even word-for-word from the
Westcott-Hort text, but simply what the translators feel should
be written. Some of these versions may agree approximately
80% with the Authorized Version, but, remember, 20%
arsenic mixed into 80% pure water is still poison!

God has always preserved his word in a multiplicity of copies

to be widely distributed in order to make his salvation known.
Translations made word-for-word from the Received Text,
such as the King James Authorized Version, can be trusted as
faithful preservations of his inspired, inerrant Scriptures. If
you’re a Protestant who does not want to be subtly influenced
by Roman Catholic doctrine, you need to stop using a version
that is the product of Satan’s policy of evil against the
preserved word of God. I’ve heard believers protest that their
new version is easier to read; but if what you’re reading is not
God’s word, is that important? The KJV is written at a 5th-
grade reading level, whereas the new versions are grades 6-8.
You may want to obtain an ‘olde-English’ dictionary,
although the KJV is self-defining when words are read in
context in different places in the text.
We can trust God’s promise to preserve his word as we trust
his other promises. To do otherwise is to doubt the divine
attributes of almighty God. The words by which we need to
be saved and to live by are completely, faithfully and
supernaturally preserved for English-speaking people in the
King James Authorized Version.
‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not
pass away.’ (Matt. 24:35).
