ACCEPTING NEW CHALLENGES THE INTEGRATED LIFE PROJECT (ministering

to the Whole-Man) accepted the challenge to assume re sponsibility together with the Taguatinga Christian Church,
for the EL SHADDAI CHRISTIAN home, a care-center or phanage. In January, we took in six children and two helpers while the other 69 children were placed either back with relatives or in temporary substitute homes while a full reform of our former camp grounds was undertaken. On April 8th, the doors were opened for 32 more children and we pray that we will eventually have room for the remain ing 37 children. Daily requests come for others to be accepted. These children come from very poor and often broken families who are unable to care for them. They ire under nourished and very slow in their school learning. We were able to place most of them in a country school two miles away in the afternoons, but in the mornings all the children are together and with few counselors, it is difficult to help some with their homework, others with chores and also supervise the younger ones. Those who are helping out as
counselors are dedicated Christians and are sacrificially giving of their love and work.

Food donations come from several places, but not all that is needed ... such as milk, sugar, juice, meats, bread and cereal. There are expenses with medicine, school ma
terials and other needs. All the children come with lice and

worms . . many have no shoes or toothbrushes or combs. Several ladies from the Brasilia church are voluntarily tak

ing home sacks of clothing to be washed and mended while waiting for the "laundry" to be set up. There are many challenges yet to be met, besides

A few months after their wedding, Ricarda's grand daughter (a year old) came because her parents were both mentally ill, alcoholics and the father had spent time in prison. The grandparents were joyous with their new baby, Cristina, and they cared for her as well as they could . . . with lots of help from neighboring elderly. Then Ricarda began having his blood pressure and dizzy spells,
accompanied by lapses of memory. We are thankful that

EL SHADDAI came into existence close by and now

Cristina stays during the week with the other children and with her grandparents on the weekend. She is learn ing new things and tries to sing with the other little ones. She will be two years old on May 9th.

Our first effort to supply the first and primary necessity on our homes project was WATER! Water was adequately supplied for several years when Bethany Christian Church

(Anderson, IN) and IDES provided nearly $10,000 to sup

ply funds for electrical wires, 75 K1 transformer, the first
well and a 25,000 liter tank for water.

Water has continued to flow slowly, but with our grow

ing number of cups to drink, baths, ishes and clothes to

wash, we need a greater supply of water. We have dug two cisterns, but even they have not met the need. Wehave just
cleaned out the first drilled well because it seemed to have caved in, underground. But we still need more water! PRAY FOR OUR MAXIMUM WATER NEEDS! Water for drinking!
Water for baths!

Water for washing clothes! Water for irrigation!

THE MISSION THRUST TO ANGOLA AND MOCAMBIQUE has been post poned until Fall of this year when the first graduate of Angola from Christian College here will be returning home. To accompany him is Geraldo Borges who is presently
shepherding the church in Goiania (Vila Nova). Chxurches are laying aside funds for their travel expenses at this time. NEW CHURCHES ARE CONTINUING TO BE OPENED. On April 2nd, an elder of the small church in "Blue Lake", just outside the Federal District, said his church had just opened a new work. The Brasilia Church has projected the
renewal of several house churches in local and satellite areas.

camp grounds of local members. Delegates came from north and south, east and west, missionaries and nationals. About 60 were present, hearing messages of unity, love and communion with the people of God. David Sanders and Bruce Colson attended. It was a surprise to find a restoration movement so voluntary... so provoking.. Meeting together were preachers from Presbyterian, Meth odist, Catholic, and others seeking to break away from traditions and unite to serve together, seek ing to walk in love "one toward another," with respect for each other, in matters of faith and the Lordship of Christ. A believer from Argentina brought messages of challenge as did various other speakers and volunteers.

BRASILIA BUILDER November, 1991 A MOUTH FOR THANKSGIVING!

We work In so many "impossibles" so we labor daily in prayer! We marvel at how God, not only has kept us here, but has brought to pass and carried us over many insurmountable obstacles. We thank
uou for uour vrauers and participation!

At the semi-artesian well, where our pump was stolen, we now

have a new pump which is being installed with an alarm system.

We

are working on a complete remodeling system from the well,

the

tank, the pipes (1800 feet), besides to each house and unit, to elderly and children. In addition, we have dug out a spring and put in 3 cement cylinders, connected a new pump for the wash house connecting to the dormitories and kitchen. The city inspector has promised to come out for a re-examination of the water. We hope
to use i t also for irrigation.

We have prayed diligently for legalizing our right to use the land contracted 35 years ago. Now this week the Secretary of Agriculture has called the Directory of the Integrated Life Project
in for a favorable solution for the area that has been used for

farm school and camp grounds and is now housing 16 elderly,

children, 6 caretakers and monitors. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS

We see the work of the integrated life project as not only

giving the necessary physical help, but also important spiritual help. There is evangelism! (Just now, two more baptisms) There is
witness! There is teaching! There is counseling! There is

encouragement toward living a life for Christ! Even as Jesus said: "come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will

give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) This is HIS work, a ministry that
cannot continue without many, many people who will pray, who will work, who will give and who will love! THANK YOU, CHRISTIAN FRIEND!

CHRISTMAS IS NEAR AT HAND!

"FOR TO US A CHILD IS BORN, TO US A SON IS GIVEN,
AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL BE ON HIS SHOULDERS. AND HE

WILL BE CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE." ISAIAH 9:6
May this be our joint prayer!.. Heavenly Father, you have brought peace into our hearts and into all our relationships. May your Name be honored as we serve in the ministry of reconciliation
among the nations!

The Sanders (Lloyd David & Ruth), the Azevedos (Luiz Carlos, Starla Joy, Kyula, Kalinka, Kaliula & Kevan), and the Castros (Luiz Fernando, Maria Joyce, Marcelo & Rafael) send their love and greetings for a HAPPY THANKSGIVING, a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS, and a
HOPEFUL NEW YEAR!
