The 6 (six) Kalimas are recorded in various books of knowledge, and are recited (and remembered) by people across

the globe. These kalimas were compiled together for children to memorise and learn the basic fundamentals of a Muslim's beliefs. They are not found altogether complete in any one hadith or narration from the Prophet (peace be upon him). However, some of them can be found individually in the narrations. Listed below are the 6 well known Kalimas.

First Kalima - Kalima Tayyabah - Listen it in Arabic


The word Tayyabah means Purity. The first requirement for a non-Muslim to become Muslim, is to say this kalima. By saying this, a person nullifies existing of any false gods and delcares Allah Almighty as the one and only God and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is His Messenger.

English Translation: There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

Second Kalima - Kalima Shahdaat - Listen it in Arabic


The word Shahdaat means Testimony or Witness.

English Translation: I bear witness that no-one is worthy of worship but Allah, the One alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad (PBUH) is His servant and Messenger.

Third Kalima - Kalima Tamjeed - Listen it in Arabic


The word Tamjeed means Glorification.

English Translation: Glory be to Allah and Praise to Allah, and there is no God But Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And there is no Might or Power except with Allah.

Fourth Kalima - Kalima Tauheed - Listen it in Arabic


The word Tauheed means Unity.

English Translation: (There is) none worthy of worship except Allah. He is only One. (There is) no partners for Him. For Him (is) the Kingdom. And for Him (is) the Praise. He gives life and acuses death. And He (is) Alive. He will not die, never, ever. Possessor of Majesty and Reverence. In His hand (is) the goodness. And He (is) the goodness. And He (is) on everything powerful.

Fifth Kalima - Kalima Ishtaghfar - Listen it in Arabic


The word Ishtagfar means Forgiveness, Penitence .

English Translation: I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn towards Him from the sin that I know and from the sin that I do not know. Certainly You, You (are) the knower of the hidden things and the Concealer (of) the mistakes and the Forgiver (of) the sins. And (there is) no power and no strength except from Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

Sixth Kalima - Kalima Rud-e-Kufr - Listen it in Arabic


The word Rud-e-Kufr means Rejecting the Disbelief.

English Translation: O Allah! Certainly I seek protection with You from, that I associate partner with You anything and I know it. And I seek forgiveness from You for that I do not know it. I repended from it and I made myself free from disbelief and polytheism and the falsehood and

the back-biting and the innovation and the tell-tales and the bad deeds and the blame and the disobedience, all of them. And I submit and I say (there is) none worthy of worship except Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

First Kalima, The Kalimah of Islam


This Kalimah is also known as; Arabic Kalimah Tauheed; Monothisam Kalimah Tayyibah; Peurity


Transliteration La ilaha illa-llah, Muhammadu-rasulu-llah Translation There is no Allah but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Second Kalimah
Also known as the words of testimony or kalima-e-shahaadat Arabic

Transliteration Ahadu an la ilaha illa-llah, wa ahadu anna Muhammadun Aabduhu wa rasuluh. Translation I bear witness that there is no Allah but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is Allahs servant and His Messenger

Third Kalimah
Also known as the word of glorification or kalima-e-tamjeed Arabic


Transliteration Subhana-llahi, wa-l-hamdu li-llahi, wa la ilaha illa-llahu, wa-llahu akbar. Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-llahi-l-aliyyi-lazeem Translation Glory be to Allah and Praise to Allah, and there is no Allah But Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And there is no Might or Power except with Allah, the Exalted, the Great one.

Fourth Kalimah
Also know as the word of unity or kalima-e-tauhid Arabic

Transliteration La ilaha illa-llahu wahdahu la harika lahu lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-hamdu yuhyi wa yumitu biyadihi-lkhayr, wa huwa ala kulli hayin qadir. Translation There is no Allah but Allah. He is only One. He has no partners. For Him (is) the Kingdom. And for Him (is) the Praise. He gives life and acuses death. In His hand (is) the goodness. And He has

power over everything.. Fifth Kalimah Also known as the words of rejecting disbelief or kalima-e-rud-e-kuffer Arabic


Transliteration Allahumma inni au`zu bika min an uhrika bika hay'an -wwa-ana a'lamu bihi wa-stagfiruka lama la a'lamu bihi tubtu anhu wa tabarratu mina-l-kufri wa-hirki wa-l-kizbi wa-l-ma'asi kulliha wa aslamtu wa aqulu la ilaha illa-llahu muhammadu-rasulu-llah. Translation O Allah! Certainly I seek protection with You from, that I associate partner with You anything and I know it. And I seek forgiveness from You for that I do not know it.
