THANK YOU DEAR FRIENDS FOtt PRA YERS AND SHARINGI

Herein Brasilia, v/e had a great day! On April 8^, the Brasilia Church transported their whole congregation (ail that would go voluntarily) out about 20 miles for a Camp Ground Worship service, baptismal service and a "first" new converts' Lord's Supper at 10 am that Sunday morning.
For your Information, i t was an interesting drive through this growing metropolis over newly widened doubled 3 lane highways, over the railroad tracks, through a ^^First Village'^ (Southwest on the Goiania road) called ^^Banderante'^ (Pioneers); then up a long hill with other new villages on each side - one called ^^Riacho Ftmdo" (Deep Gully) - the other - "Guara I I Miest"; - on top of the hill was "Saazambaia" (Feim). On the left was a newer Satellite city called ^^Recanto das Emas^' (Comer of small ostriches) each one, 50,000 people or more. All of these have one or two
Christian Churches. . . one of them has 5. Parallel to this

road,

now reaching out

to

^^Ceilandia^^ and beyond,

now runs

the new "metro" just

inaugurated

March 31"*^.

(There will

be free rides for three months.)

The greatest attraction on this drive was at one of the crossroads where a new

cloverleaf viaduct is being completed... in fact, there are at least six new interchanges being constructed around this city. We come down toward our social activity Farm area "Camp Grounds"; "school" and "homes" for the elderly poor (about 100 acres for which we have a new 50 year lease). We see on the far left the newly reformed, newly plastered "house" that has a "peculiar history" but is presently locating a married student-minister as a caretaker-guard for the area, as well as a new preacherminister for elderly. We plan to use this house for dormitory for "student preachers" and ultimately for expansion of Christian College.

We are going past an "historic house"- first built 15 years ago... it was leftvacant as directors changed - funds were lacked and it was abandoned for a few months... out in the field 400 yards distance from the other buildings and the house began to be invaded "broken open" by night prowlers - then thieves began to carry off parts... then all at once, windows and doors disappeared... efforts were made to repair doors and windows and workers and a guard to watch, day and night, as they worked until the house was renewed. Finally, it was ail complete. The "faithful" watchman and everyone else left. The first night was a dark cloudy rainy night while everybody slept. A bright new day arrived and some boys came rushing down the hill asking what happened to the house? We were telephoned. Wewere 20 milesaway- rushed out to see - no house! Where had it gone? Whathappened? Policewere called a survey was made - no sight of the house - a few broken bricks of the walls left standing, but the pump, the water tank, the roof, the stove, the tables, the toilet fixtures ail but some broken walls and tile was gone. Everyone was sick - the small guard house and student lodgingwas gone! Gone! Gone!
Several years passed... funds were law, no guard to secure the property, no watchman, an open water tank (invaded by neighbors for swimming and washing clothes), an open supply water drain, invading cattle (some of whichfell in the drain - a

horse whichfell in, ^ed there). Finally, I wrote toIDES andaskedfor some help toget
the project restored. In the meantime, I had asked help several placesfor enlarging our

irrigation for truck gardening- vegetables andfruitfor the elderly. IDES helped restore
our 10,000gallon tank with cement sides and roofand sealed coverfor the springs.

The house was a majoroperation... IDES volunteered help and now the majorjob
is accomplished - plastered - painted - water and lights connected. Last week some volunteers came and dug through rock manyplaces toplant 35 trees (about halfofthem, fruit trees) around the house... As we drove past this area ofthefarm, we turned down a

hard clay gravel road (that is promised to be pavedyet this year) down the long hill parallel to thefarm about 800yards to the third gate below to El Shaddai and the Camp Grounds - An area with 5 small apartment type homes, 2 dormitories, part time
schoolroom and our recently renewed all purpose dining hall-kitchen-classroomsbathrooms and toilets (IDES helped restore these over the last three years)
We came together to baptize 28 from several churches - each minister - elder

baptizing his candidates... the last, but not least - Tarso - had asked me personally to baptize him. I had a couple of the men pick him up from his wheel chair and carry him up into the water tank. A young preacher assisted as I pronounced "We baptize
you... in the name...." He had come with no change of clothes - invalid - - takes "dialysis" three times a week. I have been visiting him for 20 years as have others of the church... One incident of delay. Tarso said he had no change of clothes and said to "sprinkle" him but I tried to explain that he was dead and needed to be buried and

that there was no substitute to show his death, burial and resurrection except by being buried in the water... so he and the doubters allowed him to "obey the eternal command of obedience and pardon". Then a victorious message on the Lord^s Supper followed by a picnic "carry in" dinner for more than 200 persons.
Back to the city and evening services with 200 attending... a new family from

Manaus (1500 miles away where Earl Haubner has planted a church). This night two
more families were added. So ended one Sunday in Brasilia! (One welcome announcement was made at the camp ground... which was that the underground spring waters had been tested again and reported crystal clear and pure. Praise the Lord for many things! For those of you who have prayed, yet have not heard : my "cancerous tumors" are slow types and seem to be showing signs of healing. A third doctor's opinion was that I had

better just "forget" them at my age and pretend they were not present. X-rays, biopsies, doctors... all this started wrhen I went in for a check up from cervical arthritis and crippling sciatic pains... in the meantime, taking extra vitamin pills, epson salts, pain pills, and my regular herbal teas, with lots of prayer (from around the world and in the local church). One
day, I woke up with the pain completely gone. We are much appreciative of pravers and
special designated gifts which helped take care of the expensive x-ravs. exams and biopsies.

Then on Monday, May 28,1 entered the hospital and submitted to having a hernia repaired. This time our health insurance covered all but taxi and pain killers. I am up and continuing to
participate in the salvation experience in varied ways. (5od be praised!
We would very much like to have an E-mail address if possible!

David Sanders Medical Treatments

Since Kid's Place is aware that the problem of the abandoned child is a problem within the family unit, it has established a parallel education program
for the families of the children it serves. The

program includes classes in health, education, psychology, social and spiritual assistance.

Last June, David, already under doctor's care for prostate cancer and a small tumor on a kidney, began to experience complications. The doctor advised David to quit taking his pain medicine which included an anti-biotic. Still the problem persisted. At this time David is undfitgoing expensive
medical treatments. The cost exceeds the insurance

payments by about $300.00 per month. Special donations have been of great assistance in paying for
these treatments.

Teaching As He Walks
David was seeking to help a young man who wanted to learn English but could not attend Ruth's English class. He asked the boy to go with him for an early morning walk and speak English as they walked. David would have company on his walks and

DAY OF THE BiBLE

In 2001 the Brasilia church Sunday school celebrated the Day of the Bible with the unheard of idea of reading the entire Bible during one Sunday school hour. There was a great applause and cheering as the final ones finished their reading.

SHARING TAKES NEW FORMS

Nelson Piquet, of championship auto race fame, has retired and settled in Brasilia. His longtime partner and chauffeur, Waltinho Ferrai, who has also settled in Brasilia, has found refuge in the Christian Church there. He and his
wife have become members of the Brasilia Church.

This year Bible Day is being celebrate

by the congregation presenting to the Assembly a Bible hand-copied by the members of the church. The day will celebrate the Bible activity of the church during the past year. Ruth has already finished copying her books of the Bible

While visiting with the church minister, Edson Gouvea, at the Integrated Life Home Project, Ferrai was told how much they needed a new water tower. Ferrai quickly responded that he would arrange for the tower and water tank. Within a week, a new water tower was erected to supply water for camp grounds, school, retreats and for irrigation. Later, minister Edson was telling Ferrai
of the need for a school bus for the children.

This conversation led Ferrai to ask his friend, Nelson Piquet to help. Today, the new school
