More about Zimri Klavier:
“If even a wise man can learn from a fool, why bother becoming the wise
man when you can become the fool?”
So goes the slogan of Zimri Klavier, bard-for-hire. Clever, witty, and quick,
Zimri makes up for any fault he has by sheer personality. He can walk into a bar
and come out with twice the gold he came in with.
If you believed him, Zimri was born within the walls of the Nobles’ Quarter,
lost by his parents when a trading venture was raided by Wintersouled, picked up
and raised by wolves, and eventually captured by humans and raised by
graverobbers from the Necropolis until they were killed by the undead. And this
could be true, as far as anyone knows. The earliest knowledge anyone has of
him was 13 years ago, when he when he walked into a gambling hall in Midtown,
lost nearly all of the money he brought with him, then promptly won it all back
with a single silver piece.
From that beginning, Zimri wandered around the city of Ptolus, sleeping in
inns when he could and finding a bed of grass when he couldn’t. It was within a
bed of grass outside the Imperial Academy of Music that he found music. Waking
up to the sound of a harp, Zimri listened as the music washed over him. The
beautiful sounds inspired him.
Either because he lacked the money or because he simply didn't want to
buy anything, Zimri made his own instrument: a simple lute, made of maple and
mahogany. Trying it out for the first, he found that he had quite a long way to go.
Frequenting the taverns of Ptolus, Zimri played his lute for anyone who
would listen. Originally using simple melodies of a few strings, Zimri began to
learn. Playing became a new ambition in a lifetime of going with the flow. And he
played.
