JABBER FOR WINDOWS DOWNLOAD, INSTALL, AND CONFIGURE

The Jabber Client for Windows allows participating in Cisco TelePresence meetings. This documents includes instructions for downloading, installing and configuring the Jabber client on a Windows OS computer.

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL JABBER


The download file for the Jabber Client for Windows is located on the ANR Technology Services Support web site: http://support.anr.msu.edu/support/cisco_telepresence

Click on: Windows Jabber Download

Click on the Windows Jabber Download link to begin downloading the Jabber client. The install is a normal software install. Follow the install wizard (see some screenshots below) and once Jabber is install, move to the next steps in this document.

CONFIGURE JABBER
You will need to email Julie Delgado in the MSUE Directors office to request a Jabber password. Contact Julie via email delgadof@anr.msu.edu

After contacting Julie, you will receive an email that contains your password for Jabber. Once you have received the email, use the password contained in it to log in to Jabber.

Using the information from the email you received, fill in: Username = your ANR username Password = found in email

NOTE Make sure the Remember Me checkbox is checked, so you do not have to put in your username or password each time you open Jabber. Once you have typed in your username and password, you will need to configure some settings before signing in. See next step before clicking on Sign in.

Before clicking on Sign in you must configure the sign in settings. Click on the wrench icon and choose Sign-In Settings from the dropdown menu.

ENTER SERVER SETTINGS


Fill in the following information on the Sign-in window: Internal Server = msuevid1.anr.msu.edu External Server = msuevid2.anr.msu.edu SIP Domain = anr.msu.edu Click OK to continue.

After entering the server settings, click Sign in to sign in to the Jabber client. NOTE - Your username and password (from email) should be filled in as well.

You will now see the Quick Setup window. Here you can adjust/test: Microphone Camera Speakers

Click Next when all adjustments and tests are completed.

You can return to the Quick Setup area anytime by clicking on the wrench dropdown menu and choosing Quick Setup

The green dot to the left of your name is your status. It will be green whenever you are logged in to Jabber. Others will see this if they have you listed as a contact.

You can change you status by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the green dot and choosing a different status from the dropdown.

EMAIL INVITATION TO CONFERENCE


When you are invited to a conference call, you will receive an email similar to the one below. In the email, you can see details of the meeting, and click on Conferenceinvitation.ics to have the meeting placed on your Outlook calendar.

ADDING CONTACTS TO JABBER


You can keep a list of Favorites (people or endpoints you contact often) in Jabber. To add contacts to your Favorite area, begin typing a name or endpoint address in the text box.

A list of people who match what you typed in the text box will show up. Click on a name and then click Add to Favorites

The people you have chosen as favorites appear in the Favorites tab.

SIGN OUT OF JABBER

To sign out of Jabber, click on the wrench icon and choose Sign Out from the dropdown menu.
