OHV must have 1 headlamp, 1 red rear reflector or rear lamp, 1 stop lamp, brakes, muffler and emission control system. OHV must have adequate brakes, headlights & taillights between sunset & sunrise, & a noise control device.

Under 18 must be wearing a properly fitted and fastened US DOT protective headgear designed for motorized vehicle use. There is an exception for implements of husbandry exemption. Under 18 must be wearing a DOT approved helmet.

OHV must have a muffler. The discharge into the open air of the exhaust of any motor vehicle except through a muffler or other device which will effectively prevent loud or explosive noises therefrom is prohibited. OHV must have a noise control device.

Passenger may only ride if OHV is designed for two or more and may only carry as many passengers as designed to carry. Passenger may only ride on permanent and regular attached seat. Passenger my not ride in a position that will interfere with the operation of the OHV or the drivers view.

Under 18 must be under direct supervision (defined as within 300ft with maintained visual contact and able to give and receive advice & assistance) OR The person under 18 must have a valid drivers license in their possession, in which case they are exempt from being under direct supervision.

A person is guilty of reckless driving who operates a vehicle (UT 41-22-10.5 means OHVs are included) in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property; or while committing three or more moving traffic violations under 41-6a traffic code, in a series of acts occurring within a single continuous period of driving covering three miles or less in total distance.
