TITLE OF THE STUDY A STUDY OF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM IN MARUTI SUZUKI.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY The scope of my study restricts itself to the analysis of performance appraisal system Because performance is a natural breathing is concerned with the human activity as Well as sociological of human being how individual perform is a matter interest of top management. They want to know the efficiency of each employee in the organization and they also want to know the effectiveness of each employee.

OBJECTIVES The main aim research objective was to understand the relevance of wide variety of methods and technique that can be explored towards performance of the organizational goals. For this purpose I have following sub objectives: 1. This process is done for examine the status of employees. 2. To identify the conceptual knowledge of employees about performance appraisal in their organization. 3. To measure the level of transparency in performance appraisal system of the organization. 4. To relate performance and motivation among the employee of the organization.

SAMPLE DESIGN: Simple Random Sampling SAMPLE UNIT: Employee in MARUTI SUZUKI. SAMPLE SIZE: 50 UNIVERSE OF STUDY: BANGALORE DATA COLLECTION: Data Type: Primary Primary data: The primary data was collected through a structured questionnaire. Interviews were also conducted in order to clarify certain points. These interviews helped to get a clear insight into the subject. Traditionally, it has been the sole responsibility of managers / supervisors to assess Performance. However, other organisational members (e.g., clients, co-workers, Subordinates) can be a valuable source of information as they are likely to have Exposure to different aspects of an employees performance. Collecting information From multiple sources can increase the accuracy of performance evaluation (i.e., Reduce bias), and increase employees perceptions of fairness. Secondary data: Secondary data was collected from books and records maintained by the personnel department, and also from published books, literature, internet etc.

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY: An extensive research on the subject could not be

undertaken because of time constraints. Data collected may be subjected to bias as employees may not reveal confidential information. The study will be limited to the extent of available data. The study is based on only on primary data. The assumption that all employees have the same information and beliefs about the distribution of returns. The study excludes the entry and the exit loads of the statement of financial analysis. DEFINITION Performance appraisal is a formal, structured system of measuring and evaluating an employees job related behaviors and outcomes to discover how and why the employee is presently performing on the job and how the employee can perform more effectively in the future so that the employee, organization, and society all benefit. Performance appraisal is the process of obtaining, analyzing and recognition information about the relative worth of an employee. Performance appraisal is also known as performance management, performance evaluation and performance review.

CHAPTER SCHEME Chapter 1This chapter covers the introduction of

performance appraisal, its overviews, objective, frame work, processes and other activities. Chapter 2- This chapter outlines the research design adopted, statement of problem, research methodology, objectives, scope of the study, sources of data, data collection instrument, limitation of study and chapter scheme. Chapter 3- This chapter studies the profile of MARUTI SUZUKI and its structure. Chapter 4- This chapter is an analysis of relevant data and interpretation of the same. Chapter 5- This chapter gives the findings of research conducted. includes suggestions and conclusions drawn from the above report. Bibliography and annexureBesides various chapters, the study provides Bibliography and attaches certain information, questionnaire.
