ClearKone is a revolutionary contact lens for keratoconus that takes advantage of the best features of the hybrid platform, providing superior visual acuity, stability, centration and all-day comfort. The patent-pending design is optimized to vault the predominant irregularities of the keratoconic cornea, thus, effectively restoring vision to a vast majority of irregular cornea patients, without compromising comfort or eye health, even in the most challenging cases. SynergEyes recognized the need to develop a hybrid contact lens design that could not only successfully fit emerging to advanced central, nipple cones, but also a much broader spectrum of keratoconus patients, including oval cones, highly advanced central cones, decentered cones and depending on the specifics of the case, globus keratoconus and pellucid marginal degeneration.

Revolutionary Lens Design

Key features of ClearKone include the patentpending vault design and the reverse geometry landing system. The design is optimized to vault over the vast majority of ectasias without bearing to ensure corneal surface integrity. The excellent centration and stability of the hybrid platform keeps the optics centered over the visual axis, regardless of the location of the cone, to successfully decrease aberrations resulting in superior visual acuity through the reduction of coma. The unique design of the ClearKone lens allows for the majority of the power to come from the lacrimal lens which substantially lowers lens powers to further enhance optical performance. In addition, ClearKone incorporates a new hybrid skirt curve design which promotes all-day tear flow and movement providing comfortable lens wear, corneal health and simplified lens removal.

Streamlined Fitting Process

ClearKone utilizes a linear vault fitting system, which makes the lens easier to fit than other contact lens options for keratoconus. The power of the diagnostic lenses are calibrated to change at the same rate as the base curve. Therefore, any two lenses within the fitting set will require the same over-refraction, making calculations that are normally needed with other lenses, unnecessary with ClearKone. Once the over-refraction of a diagnostic lens has been determined, every other lens in the set will take the same over-refraction. The streamlined fitting process makes the ClearKone lens one of the simplest keratoconus products to fit, while delivering the best possible vision and comfort for the widest spectrum of patients.
