GAS TURBINE CONTROL SYSTEM

Control of the gas turbine is done by the startup, acceleration, speed, temperature, shutdown & manual control functions. Sensorsmonitor the turbine speed, exhaust temperature, compressor discharge pressure and other paramenters to determine the operating conditions of the unit. When it is necessary to alter the turbine operating conditions because of changes in load or ambient conditions. The control modulates the flow of the fuel to the gas turbine. SpeedTronic MARK VI turbine control system is designed for the GE turbines, designed as a complete integrated control, protection & monitoring system for the generator and mechanical drive application of gas & steam turbines. Control systems is basically designed for integrating both power island and balance of plant controls. Hardware and software of control system is designed with close coordination between the GE's turbine design engineering. The control loops for the lube oil control and flame indication control, were both implemented and tested using PLC. The flame control uses two out of four output logic, i.e if two out of four inputs are present, there will be output.
