Consumers and business ethics 7. Multinational corporations and ethics 8. Issues of social responsibility 9. Codes of conduct within organizations 10. Ethics in international management 11. Ethics in Europe; the United States and elsewhere: A comparative study 12. Culture and business ethics 13. Ethical decision making 14. Ethics with respect to ecology and the natural environment

Learning and Teaching

Learning will be achieved through the use of various pedagogical tools such as: 6 powerpoint slides and on-line seminars and tutorials teaching materials in video and audio VLE platform required textbook and other recommended readings case studies assignments (formative and summative) electronic interviews (using digital video) Intended Module Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, students will be expected at threshold level to: (1) Demonstrate a critical awareness of real ethical issues that modern businesses face (2) Critically examine the ethical environment in which corporations operate, be it the market, international operations or the natural environment, and consider the impact this has upon business behaviour and performance (3) Critically assess the ethical dimensions of a business decision from a managerial, individual and societal perspective (4) Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the implications of differences in business ethics systems around the world

Module Assessment

Assessment will be comprised of one written assignment. Students are required to prepare one written assignment on business ethics of at least 4000 words. To this end they must conduct a literature review of an ethical business issue that interests them. The amount of time needed to complete this assignment will vary according to students abilities. However, students are likely to spend one week on searching the literature and another two weeks reviewing the information they have found. They will then need another two to three weeks preparing their final written assignment. Coursework Comprehensive Essay (minimum 4000 words) 100% LO 1, 2, 3, 4 Passing mark: 50%
