Church for the Highlands Kids

Wes enjoys playing with the cars in the nursery. So much that he has to sit on the table with them. Lake and Alena having a tea party. Perhaps celebrating Mrs. Michelles return to the CFTH Kids ministry!

April 2014
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Spring is officially here! April is a very important month on our church calendar. It is the month where we study Jesus crucifixion and rejoice in his resurrection, Easter. We are studying the animals of the Bible, so we will be learning this month about how the donkey carried Jesus into the city on Good Friday, and of course bunnies! Mark your calendars, the kids will be singing during Easter church service.

Question: What do colorful eggs have to do with Easter? Answer: - Eating eggs was not allowed by the church during the week leading up to Easter (known
as Holy Week). So any eggs laid by chickens that week were saved and decorated to make them 'Holy Week eggs', then given to children as gifts. People in the 1800s adapted the tradition with satin covered cardboard eggs filled with Easter gifts. In the U.S., the White House Easter Egg Roll, a race in which children push decorated, hard-boiled eggs across the White House lawn, is an annual event held the Monday after Easter. The first official White House egg roll occurred in 1878, when Rutherford B. Hayes was president. The event has no religious significance, although some people have considered egg rolling symbolic of the stone blocking Jesus tomb being rolled away, leading to his resurrection.
