Project of English A2.3 Underwater city, Atlantia 1.- Why chose it?

We choose a settlement underwater because we protect ourselves from ultraviolet rays from the surface of the earth and also because it is definitely a place isolated from the noise of big cities and the pollution they produce. 2.- How will it change the world? This project will change the world because people will commit themselves to use necessary for survival, to preserve air and water inside of this city, to recycle much of the waste and efficient use of resources at their disposal to keep the city clean and tidy. 3.- How will you raise the money you need? The money needed for the construction of this project will come from funds of real estate construction companies, private equity, public investment funds and private individuals interested in living in a different place than they normally are not used to living. We need an advertising campaign to know the benefits of this project, which will be made public by television, internet, radio and newspapers in the major capitals of countries experts in large buildings. As soon as there are interested, a trust that after reaching an optimal level of income allowed to start construction of the project will comply . 4.- What type of food will people eat in the city? The food is the same as on earth, because agricultural farms will be built to obtain sufficient food available to the population. However, plants must be adapted to produce in the same manner as in the ground. Not only is the diet of fish are believed as is possible to design and build these farms within the city. When there is not enough food in variety surface may receive other types of food to be transported by a channel that connects the city under water with the surface of the earth. 5.- What clothes will people wear? People will use the same clothes as on the surface of the earth, but it is necessary to have suitable clothing in case the temperature of the sea is very cold or very hot at certain times of year when there are changes in the water temperature oceans. 6.- What strategies will you use to make it a sustainable city? Among strategies to become a sustainable city are reused wastewater by human processes through treatment plants , air pollution will be also recycled by plants equipped with catalytic converters to recover some of the outgoing air and additionally may generate oxygen by electrolysis of seawater. The hydrogen, result of electrolysis reaction is used as fuel for the generation of electrical energy into hydrogen cells. Another strategy is to implement a recycling program for solid waste, recyclable components which were separated and that can not be recycled will be carried to the surface of the land for final disposal. Organic waste will be used to

generate fertilizer by composting and biogas processes resulting from decomposition of these wastes will be used to generate small-scale energy for the city. 7.- The professional you will take with you. We will need an interdisciplinary group of professionals, because is necessary cover a wide variety of areas such as: construction engineers for attend themes of implantation; environmental and indoor design architects; mechanical engineers for to design and to construct water and wastewater plants; electrical engineers for energy plants; doctors, nurses and paramedics for cover the healthy area; social and human professional (economics, lawyer, social worker, etc.); other like general services (repairs, pickup waste, etc.)
