Snow, Ice and Slush Removal
According to Section 44-6 of the Municipal Code of the
City of Auburn, the owner, occupant or lessee of any lot or
lands adjoining any public sidewalk shall keep the sidewalk
free from snow, ice and slush. The snow, ice and slush must
be removed within 24-hours following any storm depositing
such materials. Any dangerous sidewalk conditions or any
accident resulting from these conditions is the liability of
the property owner.
Grass, Shrub, Tree and Hedge Trimming
According to Chapter 259, Section 38 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Auburn, it is unlawful for any owner or occupant or person having control of
any lot or land to allow the growth of grass or weeds to a greater height than six
inches. This includes the accumulation of dead grass, weeds and brush. It is also
the responsibility of the property owner to maintain the portion of grass located
between the sidewalk and the curbing or roadway. This includes around light poles,
street signs, etc. Also, it is prohibited to allow hedges, shrubs, or trees to encroach
onto public sidewalks and lines of sight of public roadways.

Failure to comply with these ordinances may result in fines and penalties. In the event City of Auburn forces must clean snow ice or slush or have
to cut grass, weeds or shrubs to bring the premises into compliance, the property owner will be billed for these services.
