Dear Niket, Office Order: - issued by competent authority.

Office order contains instructions related to office works, change of working hours, instruction on closed holidays, message by senior authorities when they take over some organisation, promotions etc. Office orders are issued periodically like every Monday or on every 1st of month etc. The sequence of the information is pre-decided. Circular: - An advertisement (usually printed on a page or in a leaflet) intended for wide distribution. It need not be issued by competent authority but generally it is issued by officers or managers. Circulars are for specific purpose or event like meeting, or any other event. Notice: - A sign posted in a public place as an advertisement. When Govt authorities issue some communication, it is also called as notice e.g. notice by labour officer.

Office Order: in short, an office order has an element of "order" passed by the issuing authority intended to be followed by the target group of viewers concerned. Circular:There is no order of any authority. It is just an information about some rules, regulations or routine process of circulating some information to intended viewers for being aware about the same. Notice: This is also a kind of circulation of some information about an event/occurence which has already occured or is going to occur within in a short period.The retention time of a notice is generally short.

Office Memorandum - This form is generally used for corresponding with other departments or in calling for information from or conveying information to its employees. It may also be used in corresponding with attached and subordinate offices. It is written in the third person and bears no salutation or supersession except the name and designation of the officer signing it. Office order - This form is normally used for issuing instructions meant for internal administration, e.g., grant of regular leave, distribution of work among officers and sections, appointments and transfers, etc. Notification - This form is mostly used in notifying the promulgation of statutory rules and orders, appointments and promotions of gazetted officers, etc. through publications in the Gazette of India. The composition of the gazette, the types of matters to be published in each part and section thereof, the instructions for sending the matter for publication therein and for sending copies thereof are indicated in Appendix 11. Circular - This form is used when important and urgent external communications received or important and urgent decisions taken internally have to be circulated within a department for information and compliance by a large number of employees.
