What is the Purpose of XL Nation?

Enterprise Promise:
The Global Nation for World Wide Wealth
Attracting and Empowering the World’s Change Makers

There are a countless number of groups who want to serve this planet. There are far fewer who are
doing it well. Every great movement has a pivotal moment, when the collective reach a tipping point
and a small group creates the structure for all to follow. XL Nation has the opportunity to be the
world’s first global nation committed to our global promise: World Wide Wealth.

World Wide Wealth is our ability to maximize our power to create and contribute wealth. This comes
from connection – Connection to the right resources, opportunities, experience and knowledge.

By defining poverty as disconnection (when we are disconnected from the resources that would
otherwise move us forward), and wealth as connection, we have the power to achieve World Wide
Wealth through global connection. This is the purpose of XL Nation, and we aim to achieve it by
combining our experience of growing the world’s largest social entrepreneur network over the last
seven years with our current network, the latest technology and the components in this plan. Our
vision is articulated in our XL2020 Vision – which we have ten years to achieve.

What is XL Nation?

Flying kites in Bali on XL National Day, 31st March 2009

XL Group was founded in 2002 by Roger Hamilton and Dave Rogers to accelerate the growth of
entrepreneurship and effective giving around the world. Starting with a small, pioneering group of Life
Members in Singapore, XL has grown in the last seven years into a network of entrepreneurs in 27
countries.

On March 31st, 2009, on XL National Day, entrepreneurs from around the world met in Bali to sign the
Declaration of Interdependence, and XL Nation was born. While XL Results Foundation operated as a
social enterprise with a management team in Singapore and profit-making Country Management
teams in each country, XL operates as a democratic global nation, with its base online in XL World
and all Founding Members have an equal opportunity to step up and lead their own trusted circles.

XL Nation is represented online on the following sites:

XL Nation is supported as a non-profit from Citizen fees, and from 2010

is run as a democratically elected leadership and global, regional and
circle level. XL Founding Members are running regular events around the
World: In Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Thailand, India, China, Japan, Dubai, South Africa, England, Scotland,
Wales, Netherlands, Mexico, Canada and USA. Visit the XL Nation
XL Nation Website at www.xlnation.org

XL World is the global meeting place for all XL Leaders, Founding

Members and Citizens. It is our private, trusted space where we share all
our resources, knowledge, opportunities, and where you will find that the
home of every XL Circle. Once you have your passport and password,

World Wide Wealth

XL Nation Plan Page 4

What is the XL2020 Vision?
World Wide Wealth
In 2000, the United Nations Millennium Declaration, signed by all 191 UN
member states, set a target to halve world poverty by 2015, and end
poverty by 2025.

In 2002, XL Results Foundation was launched to help make World Wide

Wealth a reality. We set a goal to create a worldwide foundation of
learning and networking resources for entrepreneurs to accelerate their
ability to create and contribute wealth. The aim of this global, self-
supporting network is to provide an ongoing cycle of creation and
contribution through social enterprise.

In 2009, we launched XL Nation as a non-profit organisation, operating as

one democratic global nation. XL Results Foundation is the steward to
the XL Nation Senate and our XL Life Members have become Founding
Members of XL Nation. Whereas the classic learning institutions of the
20th century were united by pride of place, we see the learning networks
of the 21st century united by pride of purpose. The purpose of XL Nation
is World Wide Wealth: our power to collectively create a global plumbing
system of flow and connection to ensure we are maximising both our
personal flow and global flow.

By 2020 our goal is to have reached $1 billion of new wealth created

annually, with $100 million being contributed and leveraged to end
poverty, environmental degeneration and to meet the UN Millennium
Goals. How are we making this happen? Where are we now, and where
will we be in 2020?

A Global Learning Institution

When we launched in 2002, we had a vision of entrepreneurs learning the
latest strategies and skills for success, not from academics but from other
entrepreneurs who were walking the talk. We envisioned a core team of
Founding Members who would be our success stories and our resource
base, providing coaching, mentoring and leading by example in each
country.

By 2020, we will have an international network of circles providing hard

skill and soft skill training on all topics, from finding the right team to
building the best systems to effectively setting up in new countries. We will
have an unrivalled international business mentoring network allowing new
entrepreneurs to tap in to a collective knowledge base on business and
personal growth. We will have a network of International Schools to instil a
culture of empowerment and entrepreneurship in our next generation.

In our first seven years, we have built a base of over 2,600 Founding
Members across 27 countries. We have established the widest-reaching
coaching certification programme with monthly modules being conducted
throughout the world. Over 40,000 hours of coaching have taken place in
the certification programme in the past 12 months.

In 2008, we sponsored the National Achievers Congress, and numerous

other global events, bringing together leading entrepreneurs, educators and leaders. We also
launched XL World which now serves as a global library of applied knowledge and opportunities that
we can access anytime, anywhere.

A Self Financed Foundation

XL Nation Plan Page 5

When we launched in 2002, we had a vision of entrepreneurs becoming a sought-after community for
sponsors and advertisers, financing the activities and resources to help new entrepreneurs to help
themselves. We saw our Life Members becoming stakeholders where their investment in our vision
would lead to a lifetime return in value funded by the corporations supporting entrepreneurship.

By 2020, we will have an international base of more than five million entrepreneurs, the world’s widest
reaching media on social enterprise, Global Summits and Conferences, and networking events taking
place on any given day. Revenues from sponsorship, advertising and promotions will fund a large
portion of this activity. Being part of this collective force, a self-employed entrepreneur or small
business owner will be able to benefit from the same global buying power that today only multi-
national corporations can achieve.

In our first seven years, we have become the leading path for corporations to reach entrepreneurs
and small businesses, with a global network of over 60,000 entrepreneurs. XL Media on-line, is
dedicated to Social Enterprise and has featured leading entrepreneurs and leaders including Bill
Gates, Warren Buffett, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Bono, Al Gore and Nelson Mandela.

Entrepreneurship Decoded
When we launched in 2002, we had a vision of entrepreneurs accessing a community organised to
build businesses around each individual’s strengths. In the same way that Hollywood enabled people
to get into movies whether they were a scriptwriter, actor, director, producer, distributor, agent or
technician, XL Nation would enable people to become entrepreneurs whether they were a Creator,
Deal Maker, Trader, Mechanic, Star or Supporter. Using the Wealth Dynamics profiling system,
business owners could identify the team they needed, the value they delivered and the strategy to
follow.

By 2020, over one million people will be taking the Wealth Dynamics profiling test each year. We will
have an opportunities exchange that follows the hierarchy of the eight stages of business growth, with
international markets to find, offer and exchange ideas, brands, patents, contracts, licences,
franchises, agents, management teams, financing, companies, properties and assets based on the
Wealth Dynamics system. Entrepreneurs will be able to access communities of mentors, coaches,
resources and fellow entrepreneurs supporting and following their specific profile. Entrepreneurship
will not be about doing everything, but about doing what you do best and doing what you love.

In our first seven years, we have established Wealth Dynamics as the only profiling system providing
specific strategic direction to entrepreneurs. Over 200,000 people have attended seminars to learn
about the Wealth Dynamics Experience making it the widest-reaching event of its kind worldwide,
taking place in 12 countries. In 2009, the Wealth Dynamics Lighthouse was created as a body of
knowledge that contained all aspects of flow, including Wealth Dynamics, Talent Dynamics, Phi
Dynamics and the Wealth Spectrum.

XL Nation Plan Page 6

A Global Accreditation
When we launched in 2002, we had the vision that, in the future, consumers would contribute more to
charities from buying through social enterprises than giving directly to charities. We had the vision that
charitable causes would eventually receive more from corporations passing a percentage of their
profits to them, than from their own charity drives. We had the vision of the Billion Dollar Challenge —
where we would play a vital role in facilitating this movement by driving and measuring the wealth
created and contributed by social enterprises, with the goal of achieving $100M in contributions from
$1B in profits from participating social enterprises each year.

By 2020, we will have reached and surpassed our target of $100M contributed each year out of $1B
in profits. We will have established a universally-accepted definition of a social enterprise as a
company giving at least 10% of its profits to a charitable cause. Our Social Enterprise Accreditation
Programme will be internationally regarded as a trusted system to recognise social enterprises
publicly. Our Social Enterprise 500 will be the authoritative ranking of the top companies world-wide-
ranked by their level of giving. Our annual Social Entrepreneur Award will give international
recognition to the leading social entrepreneurs, providing role models and inspiration to the entire
network.

In our first seven years, we put in place the mechanisms for the Billion Dollar Challenge, and the XL
Social Enterprise Accreditation Programme. Through this accreditation, companies are publicly
recognised as a Social Enterprise, with a nominated charitable cause that they are committed to
giving at least 10% of their profits to. Through this programme, the Social Enterprise 500 will emerge
and we will have specific measurable data each year, contributing to the Billion Dollar Challenge. In
2008, there are over 500 companies registered, with over US$72 million pledged to charities.

A Force for Giving

When we launched in 2002, we had a vision that, in the future, each of us would have as much
education on how to contribute our money as our current consumer culture gives us on how to spend
our money. We had a vision of the emergence of ‘enlightened consumers’, who would want their
dollars spent to go to both consumption for themselves and contribution for others. We had a vision,
shared by many, that as consumers found more meaning in the power of their money, knowledge on
where to give and how to give would become increasingly valuable and important.

By 2020, we will be an authoritative source on effective giving. The collective knowledge we will have
accumulated on the difference that each dollar makes within different causes will be published in our
annual XL World Wide Wealth Directory. The partnerships we will have created with non-profit
organizations will enable us to link the networks of wealth creation and wealth contribution. Our non-
profit network will match our profit network in breadth and depth. The XL Social Enterprise
Accreditation Programme will enable us to rank charities by the number of enterprises that have
nominated them, providing a gauge to the public of the causes that fiscally-conscious corporations are
supporting. The collective result of these initiatives will be to give individuals — from consumers to
entrepreneurs — the power to make more informed decisions and see more tangible results in the
difference they are making on this planet.

In our first seven years, we have featured success stories, highlighted causes and promoted charities
in XL Media, at our events and through our online network. Our Extraordinary Lives Award and Social
Entrepreneur of the Year Award have highlighted the extraordinary work of individuals within the
network. Our World Wide Wealth Ambassadors champion causes in cities throughout the world. We
have established a sister site, worldwidewealth.org, which will feature charities from across the
region, enabling effective giving at multiple levels, from individuals to enterprises.

XL Nation Plan Page 7

When we leave this planet, no matter how much money we’ve made, if we leave it in a worse state
than when we got here, that’s not wealth. We each have the ability to make more, and we each have
the ability to contribute more. Each of us has the ability to transform our personal wealth. Collectively,
we have the ability to transform World Wide Wealth.

There are two pivotal events that will occur in our lifetime. One will be the end of world poverty, where
our wealth networks will raise us all above the bar of pure survival. The other will be the beginning of
environmental construction, where the effect of our human presence on this planet will equal a nett
constructive result on the environment, from the present nett destructive result we have been having
for the last 2,000 years. These are both historic sea changes — and they will occur in our lifetime.
What part will you play?

When we launched in 2002, we had a big vision. The big vision has become bigger because we have
gotten closer. We have gotten closer not as a result of the vision moving, but as a result of the world
moving. The world has become more uncertain, more challenging, more exciting. We have become
more connected, more informed, more empowered. Entrepreneurs are appearing at an accelerated
rate. Social Enterprise has entered the global lexicon. People are ready to make more of a difference
today.

By 2020, our vision will have become reality. It will have become bigger, and clearer. As the
optometrist said, ‘Wealth comes from 2020 Vision.’ Vision opens the door to our potential. It gives us
sight of who we can become, individually and collectively. We each have a power inside that, when
combined, can and will change the world.

XL Nation Plan Page 8

What are the Key Components of XL Nation?
There are two principles and five building blocks to XL Nation. To understand what they are and
why they are so important, it’s worth revisiting a key learning we had as we grew XL Results
Foundation:

A Quick Comparison
XL Results Foundation: Giving vs Taking

In XL Results Foundation it was easy to confuse effective giving with ineffective taking. Those who
received the most value showed up, stepped up and gave back – travelling to events, connecting with
others who they related to and were inspired by.

Those who received the least value understood the concepts of ‘Mindset’, ‘Network’ and
‘Opportunities’ as things that would be delivered to them, and when they did not see that delivery take
place, they did not see themselves empowered to improve the community, but instead saw it simply
as non-delivery.

This non-delivery was not as a result of any value delivery we controlled – people generally love
WDE, EBS, books, audios, etc and see them as value for money. The non-delivery took place in ways
we could not control. It was not what happened when we were there, but when we were not there.
Effectively the promise was broken when we weren’t looking.

XL Nation: Effective Giving

By 2008 the amount of value being delivered by XL Results Foundation was phenomenal – over
2,000 events around the world, content, learning delivered every week in stories, magazines, 24 hour
radio, videos. The problem was most even the most active members would only ever get to 5% of this
value, which made it a very inefficient and ineffective use of resources.

When asked for what XL Nation should be, some XL Members said “give us more”. That would simply
lead us down the same path we’ve been stuck on. Our question changed from “how do we give more
value” to “how can we orchestrate our collective value effectively”.

In XL Nation, the focus of XL Nation is 100% on effective giving. That is why we changed it from a
social enterprise to a non-profit model. You can get plenty in the games you play in the playground –
but you choose those games, know the payoff and pay to play (whether time, effort or money)

XL Nation: The Playground

This distinction between getting and giving is the difference of longing (where we are seeking a place)
and belonging (where we already have a place). It is the difference of XL as a place to go to, and XL
as a place to come from. There is no waiting for someone to deliver something. We are the ones
we’ve been waiting for.

Two Principles
Two ensure that XL Nation grows through flow without future bottlenecks, we can build the structure
with two guiding principles:

 It needs to be fully sustainable: If no new citizens join in a year, XL Nation would still
prosper.

 It needs to be fully scalable: If 10,000 new citizens join in a day, XL Nation would cope.

To be sustainable, our plan ensures we are not incurring costs before generating income. Every new
initiative or project must be sponsored, underwritten or covered by existing income before it begins.

XL Nation Plan Page 9

To be scalable, entry, training, service, election, selection and promotion must take place at a local,
cellular level and not through any central bottleneck that will block flow.

The sustainable, scalable model that XL Nation is based on is the same biological, cellular model we
find in every living organism, with the DNA in each cell. This means half the cells could die and the
organism could still live on. This is a vital, network structure that is very different to the old corporate
hierarchy structure that are straining and breaking under the global flow we are all experiencing.

Five Building Blocks

The DNA of XL Nation’s growth rests on five building blocks that lie at the heart to fractal growth. The
growth of each of these building blocks lies at the centre of our plan:

1. Citizenship & Circles: Super-simple show up, step up and give back

2. Global Shared ROI: PIXLs for Rewards, Opportunities, Information

3. 21st Century Governance: A self propagating leadership structure scaling from zero to
zillions

4. Declaration of Interdependence: Collaborative projects and partnerships to easily grow

5. Shared Scoreboard: Measurable results towards World Wide Wealth – Visible, global, now

While XL Results Foundation began with two people and grew within the constraints of the old model,
the new model is reverse engineered from XL2020 by asking the question “What structure would we
have had to create to enable global, trusted connection from thousands to millions? These five
building blocks are the answer, and there’s more detail on each below:

Citizenship & Circles

Super simple show up, step up and give back:

The most critical factor of any Nation is its culture and conventions. The most important piece to XL
Nation is the personal experience of belonging that each citizen has: The circles we belong to and the
power of each circle to include and inspire through truth, trust and trade.

A simple truth about showing up: We will keep showing up when we have a circle of people we care
about and relate to. No matter what ‘stuff’ we consume, if we have these two things we will have
enough and will be happy and keep showing up. We stop showing up when we have a circle of
people we don’t care about and don’t relate to. No matter what ‘stuff’ is offered, it will never be enough
and we will simply stop showing up – and blame it on not enough stuff.

So our starting point is not what value we give and how we give it, but what circles citizens can step
into, to ensure it is a circle of people they care about and can relate to. There lies the starting point of
XL Nation, where it is turned on its head. Rather than members joining top down, where they pay to
join and then often do not find a circle that fits them (XL1.0), the only way for citizens to join is for a
circle to invite them in (XL2.0). XL Circles have a specific structure that we have laid out (but that is
open to change via the Senate), and can be local or virtual. Circles are based one of five ‘P’s:

1. Place
2. Profession
3. Profile
4. Passion
5. Purpose
Global Shared ROI
PIXLs for Rewards, Opportunities, Information

XL Nation Plan Page 10

ROI stands for Rewards, Opportunities and Information. Rather than XL being a transmitter of value,
XL Nation becomes an orchestrator of shared resources. By formalising these three keys to flow we
will make them the #1 shared assets of XL Nation:

 Rewards: Rather than ‘discount vouchers’, XL Nation has an XL Infinity Bank of ‘double
everything’. Every one of us has something of value that we can offer. When an XL Citizen
buys one, they receive two. There are barter trading platforms online we can utilise and get

Interdependence
Collaborative Projects and Partnerships

XL Nation Plan Page 11

Every nation has a Declaration of Independence and so a focus on national interest. XL Nation as the
world’s first global nation will have a Declaration of Interdependence. It will have a focus on global
interest that is inclusive not exclusive.

This means that our ability to sign federation agreements with charities, learning institutions, other
organisations and eventually other nations as either service providers or program partners will be an
important part of our growth in influence and scale towards achieving World Wide Wealth. This
declaration will be a key part of the pledge at each XL Circle Power-up and Orientation of each new
XL Citizen.

Shared Scoreboard
Measurable Results Towards World Wide Wealth

By automating and integrating the tracking of World Wide Wealth on XL World, we will have an easily
accessible shared scoreboard with Circle rankings, City rankings and Country rankings.

It will give us measurable milestones against our vision, all the more relevant with each Circle being
measured by its level of effective giving. It will also give us all an opportunity to see with great
transparency who is being most successful and what we can learn from them. World Wide Wealth has
the opportunity to extend from the XL SEA program and social enterprises to social campaigns and
individual giving.

We now have a shared experience and expertise to transform the reach of our WWW program in XL
Nation. With the democratic structure we put in place, we can also see this evolve and grow to include
the many giving platforms that will emerge.

How the PIXLs work

How to get from Personal Flow to Global Flow (and back again)

The PIXLs connect the circles in the same way that molecules flow through cells. The first step is a
cell that belongs – in XL Nation that’s called an XL Circle: A self-forming group around a place, profile,
profession, passion, purpose. The second step is a leadership that takes responsibility for what goes
in the cell and what comes out of it.

There’s just five particles that flow through to paint the full picture (called a Pixl – “Particle in XL”), and
each has a leader accountable for that one Pixl. The third step is how those five things make up the
fabric of global change: We do our part locally, and the world connects through what we flow
collectively. Just like the way our cells look after us.

Three steps: Show up, step up, give back. One answer: A rhythm of flow

What are the five Pixls of XL Nation’s flow?

Cells have three jobs. The first is to preserve themselves: All XL Citizens in an XL Circle commit to
showing up, and inviting others with like minds to join the circle. The second job is to turn complex
molecules into energy and turn energy into molecules to add value to flow.

In XL we have five different Pixls of flow – which like molecules can be brought it to create energy and
direction in your life, and every time you meet you turn your energy into new forms that fit these five.
The third job is to replicate. Every Circle seeks to launch new circles and we have a family tree in XL
Nation where we can see all Circles from the prudes to the promiscuous…

Here’s the five Pixls of flow:

1. Knowledge – Creating the XL Library

2. Opportunities – Creating the XL Opportunities Exchange
3. Successes – Creating the XL News Channel
4. Measures – Creating the XL World Rankings

XL Nation Plan Page 12

5. Causes – Creating the XL World Wide Wealth Directory

1. XL Library:
The first Pixls are the Knowledge Pixls that make up the XL Library. Knowledge is the link between
information and action (That means not just a video, but a video together with an example of how the
information in the video is being turned into tangible action). On XL World, there is an XL Library
where you can download or view any audio or video that has been uploaded by other XL Circles or XL
Citizens. Each can be rated, you can sort them by popularity, and you can find them by Wealth
Dynamics category.

The Scout in every circle will pull in a Knowledge Pixl at every session, it will be viewed or discussed
and examples of two or three specific actions that XL Citizens will take from that discussion will be
posted under the video/audio in the XL Library. If someone in the circle is giving a live piece of
learning, this will be recorded and uploaded to add to the XL Library.

When a new Pixl is added (always to the video section of XL World), it is always tagged by the Scout
or Citizen who adds it. Here are the tags you’ll find in every Knowledge Pixl

The first tag will be K-PIXL (so we can search and find all of them within the video section of XL World
amongst all the videos). The second will be one of the 13 tags that categorise the type of learning
based on Wealth Dynamics flow:

1) Innovation
2) Marketing
3) Leadership
4) Partnerships
5) Service
6) Investments
7) Finance
8) Systems
9) Wisdom
10) Relationships
11) Health
12) Contribution
13) Spirit

Whenever a Knowledge Pixl has been used in a circle, the Scout will post a comment on the video/
audio with learning and the examples of action to be taken, and a link back to their XL Circle page.
They will also provide a link on the XL Circle page to the Knowledge Pixl. This cross-reference
enables any XL Citizen to gain knowledge through the XL Library or through the XL Circle they may
be following.

2. XL Opportunity Exchange:
The second Pixls are the Opportunity Pixls that make up the XL Opportunity Exchange. These are not
requests of what you need, but opportunities of what you have to offer. These have a specific format
of who you are, what your mission is, what you offer, who you are offering it to, and what you seek in
return. On XL World, there is an XL Opportunities Exchange where you can download or view any
opportunity uploaded by other XL Circles or XL Citizens. You can search for these by key word,
country, or Wealth Dynamics category.

The Guide in every circle will pull in Opportunity Pixls from XL World at every session that are relevant
to Citizens in the Circle. Two Citizens will also present their own opportunity, and the Guide will
ensure these get posted on XL World during or immediately after the circle. These are included in the
XL Opportunity Exchange (which is a part of the Forum section of XL World) and tagged by the Guide
or Citizen who adds it. All XL Citizens can then respond back directly to the XL Citizen who offered the
opportunity.

XL Nation Plan Page 13

Here are the tags you’ll find in every Opportunity Pixl: The first tag will be O-PIXL (so we can search
and find all of them within XL World amongst all the discussion postings). The second will be one of
the 13 tags that categorise the type of opportunity based on Wealth Dynamics flow:

1) Start-up
2) Promotion
3) Team
4) Partnership
5) Trade
6) Investment
7) Outsource
8) License
9) Learning
10) Family
11) Health
12) Contribution
13) Spirit

Whenever an Opportunity Pixl has been created in a circle, the Guide will post the opportunity in the
Forum section on XL World as a new Discussion, tag it, and add links back to the XL Citizen and the
XL Circle. They will also provide a link on the XL Circle page to the Opportunity Pixl.

3. XL News Channel:
The third Pixls are the Success Pixls that make up the XL News Channel. These are living examples
of what XL Citizens are achieving within XL Nation, that others can be inspired and informed by.
These have a specific format of who you are, what your challenge or goal had been, what your
actions were, what your success was, and your key lesson from the experience. On XL World, the XL
News Channel can be found within the blog section, where you can download or view any success
story uploaded by other XL Circles or XL Citizens. You can search for these by key word, country, or
Wealth Dynamics category.

The Reporter in every circle will pull in Success Pixls from XL World at every session that are relevant
to Citizens in the Circle. Two Citizens will also present their own success story (nominated from the
last Circle session), and the Guide will ensure these get posted on the XL World blog section, each as
a new blog, during or immediately after the circle. Here are the tags you’ll find in every Success Pixl:
The first tag will be S-PIXL (so we can search and find all of them within XL World amongst all the
blogs). The second will be one of the 13 tags that categorise the profile the success is related to on
the Wealth Dynamics square:

1) Creator
2) Star
3) Supporter
4) Deal Maker
5) Trader
6) Accumulator
7) Lord
8) Mechanic
9) Mixed Team
10) Family
11) Health
12) Contribution
13) Spirit
4. XL Scoreboard:
The fourth Pixls are the Measure Pixls that make up the XL Scoreboard. These are a running total for
the year (beginning on XL National Day on 31st March) for each XL Circle’s combined giving – cash
amount donated, time given and resources given (an estimated cash amount). On XL World, the XL
Scoreboard is a blog page linked to the home page, which has a score and rankings. Each Treasurer
adds their latest results to the blog as a comment, together with a number of examples of where the
donations in their Circle are going and the results they are achieving. The blog is then updated weekly
by our Global Treasurer with the numbers against each circle.

XL Nation Plan Page 14

This manual process will eventually be automated, but it will work for now. There are no tags for the
measures. The Treasurer collects the measurers during the first half of each Circle session, so they
can report on the results when it is their section. The measures then posted in both the XL Circle and
as a comment on the XL Scoreboard Blog. The XL Scoreboard will give a list of all Circles, the
measures, and the date of last report, together with a global total. In time, the XL Scoreboard will
provide rankings by circle, city and country, as well as average giving by XL Citizen at a circle, city,
country and global level.

5. XL World Wide Wealth Directory:

The fifth Pixls are the Cause Pixls that make up the XL World Wide Wealth Directory. Every cause
that is supported by XL Citizens has an opportunity to be highlighted and supported by other XL
Citizens. On XL World, the World Wide Wealth Directory is part of the groups section, where each
cause is set up as a group by an XL Citizen or Treasurer, and each cause is tagged with the following:

Here are the tags you’ll find in every Cause Pixl: The first tag will be C-PIXL (so we can search and
find all of them within XL World amongst all the groups). The second will be one of the 8 tags that link
to the millennium goals that the cause is related to on the Wealth Dynamics square:

1) Education
2) Health
3) Equality
4) Partnership
5) Environment
6) Finance
7) Family
8) Wealth

The Treasurer or XL Citizen who sets up the cause will link it to the causes’ website and other XL
Citizens can then join it to contribute or participate. Each XL Circle that has XL Citizens supporting
that cause will also be able to link to the cause, enabling a Citizen to get more information on the
causes each Circle is supporting.

How does XL Nation grow to achieve World Wide Wealth?

What would our lives be like if, every day that we wake, we know that there are circles of trustworthy
friends in every area of our lives willing to support our progress, where we all spoke a language of
effective giving and we had common access to an ongoing flow of relevant knowledge, opportunities,
and living success stories to guide us. Where we took away the excuses for not having enough to get
started, and we grew the outcome of what we were achieving to be more than our own lives, but the
way that every day we could impact the lives of others.

Now imagine the same is readily available for every person who chooses to step into this nation and
play, and that with each additional person that joined, it added to the whole? What would that mean
for you, and what would that mean for this planet? This is the promise of XL – not the power of one
but the power of all. This is the promise within every cell in our body. The first cell didn’t stop to ask
where to buy clothes for a body yet to emerge. It simply preserved, processed and propagated.

XL Nation Plan Page 15

Who are the Stakeholders of XL Nation?
We have four groups of stakeholders within XL Nation: Our XL Citizens, our XL Founding Members,
our XL Leaders and the XL Executive Team.

XL Citizens join for S$360 and have access to the shared resources as well as the opportunity to join
the various circles. XL Founding Members join for a $10,000 life membership and seat on the
Senate, and there is a limit of 3,600 seats. XL Leaders are elected annually into the various Circles,
and there are certain positions that require Founding Membership to qualify. The XL Executive Team
is also elected in annually, and manage an operations team who take care of the day-to-day running
of XL Nation. The current transition from February to October 2009 is being managed by the
Transformation Team who stepped up in February to lead the transition.

The Difference between an XL Citizen & XL Founding Member

There are three main differences between an XL Citizen and an XL Founding Member:

Ownership for Life: The first is that as an XL Founding Member you have invested in a
transferable seat on the XL Senate that lasts for life, whereas an XL Citizen pays an annual
membership fee to remain as an XL Citizen. This is the difference of buying a property versus renting
it, or owning a company versus working in it. As an XL Founding Member, you have a say in the
running and the shaping of XL Nation as one of 3,600 seat holders in the Senate, and you are
recognised as someone who had enough belief in our collective ability to affect change that you took
a stand along with the other XL Founding Members to hold the space for our success to flourish.

Increased Intangible Privileges: With the increased status comes increased trust. In the
same way that shareholders work together with a common sense of ownership, XL Founding
Members find their ability to open doors and create partnerships accelerates. Being privy to the
strategies shaping a global entrepreneur community will shift your mindset in facing your own
challenges and the opportunities that open via other XL Founding Members have proven time and
again to be worth more than the entire cost of your seat.

Increased Tangible Privileges: In addition, within XL Nation, Founding Members are

recognised for their commitment through a series of additional privileges. These are grouped into
accelerated ways to show up, to step up and to give back. These are regularly added to, and here’s
the current list –

Privileges that create a platform for ‘Showing Up’

Woody Allen says “80% of success is showing up”. So our ability to be present in the face of
opportunity and learning is paramount. Here’s the ways that XL Nation enables XL Citizens and XL
Founding Members to show up:

1. Global Network
In 2008, XL World was launched as an online network for us to connect
and share resources. It is unique in serving as both a meeting point and
a central base of opportunities, knowledge, inspiration and programs that
come from our real-world meetings. Our XL Citizens use XL World as a
complement to their real-world connections, accelerating trust and
information exchange.

Founding Members have the power to create circles and shape the
community as XL Circle and Global Leaders. You are also recognised in
XL World and at meetings as Founding Members, and have a say in how
the network evolves through the Senate, which meets monthly.

XL Nation Plan Page 16

2. Local Events
By 2009, we had monthly events taking place in over 30 cities around the
world. Since the launch of XL Nation, the number of events taking place
is growing exponentially as XL Leaders create their own circles in cities
around the world. XL Citizens can apply to join open XL Circles around
the world, or attend as a guest, and all have access to the learning,
opportunities, successes and measures of each circle as these are
always posted into XL World.

Founding Members have the additional privilege of access to XL Circles

that are restricted to Founding Members only – and to set up their own.
You also have the opportunity as XL Leaders to have say in what
happens at the Arc Level, which shapes the International Speakers and
World Tours that come to your home town.

3. Relevant Events
Prior to the launch of XL World, the only events that occurred in XL were
local events. Now, you have the opportunity to connect with XL Circles
related to your passion, purpose, profession, profile, interests and
industry all over the world. Virtual Circles take place via XL World and, if
you do not want to commit the time to showing up within a circle, you can
still access their flow via the learning, opportunities, successes and
measures that they post.

Founding Members can access Founding Member Only Circles

throughout the World and set up their own global circles, which XL
Citizens are not able to do. Think of your current profession, purpose or
interests. What could you set up to build a support base and invite
potential future partners in, creating an instant environment of value for
them from which you can build trust and connection?

4. International Events
XL has always been committed to connecting us with the best minds and
speakers in the world. In the past, this involved costly tours and events.
Today, you have monthly access to much of the best learning in the world
through a mix of tours, monthly live video power-ups and monthly Forum
and Senate sessions which are always inspiring and interactive. These
are all recorded so you can also access them if you can’t make the live
session. As many of our XL Founding Members are also leading
speakers and educators, you can also catch the events they are involved
in through our online calendar.

Founding Members have exclusive access to attend a variety of

michelle clarke International Events, such as the0Senate Sessions, and the top speakers
Sep 24, 11:50 AM and content is provided either by Founding Members or their
Deleted: Forum and recommended choices. That means you are uniquely positioned to have
the dual opportunity to both participate in and present at these events.

5. Groups and Programs

In addition to the various meetings and events, XL Nation also has
groups that you can join, covering a wide variety of areas, and programs
that XL Citizens create and participate in. You will find these publicised in
XL World, and will include wealth creation and wealth contribution
programs, as well as social events and tours.

XL Nation Plan Page 17

Privileges that create a mountain for ‘Stepping Up’
Once we are on the pitch and in the game, the way that we raise our game through the opportunities
and tools at our disposal becomes critical. Here’s the ways that XL Nation enables XL Citizens and XL
Founding Members to step up:

6. Wealth Dynamics Resources

XL users Roger Hamilton’s Wealth Dynamics profiling system to identify
our the game we need to play and the people we need to connect with to
get into our flow. All XL Citizens receive a profile test, and can find the
people, resources, opportunities, learning and success stories within XL
World organised by the Wealth Dynamics system. In the sea of
information we are all swimming in, this gives us each a way to focus on
what we need, when we need it.

Founding Members are recognised as the bearers of the flame for

World Wide Wealth. With the launch of the Wealth Lighthouse and
Wealth Spectrum in 2009, as a Founding Member you exclusively
receive over $2,000 of value in the form of free test, membership access
to the Wealth Lighthouse, which contains the body of knowledge of
Wealth Dynamics, and downloadable Wealth Dynamics Power Packs on
each profile.

7. XL Library
Every XL Circle is obliged to share their key learning in our library in XL
World. This is not a library of information but of applied knowledge,
where each video or audio is categorised, tagged, voted on, favourited
and where specific details of how XL Circles are applying the piece in
their enterprises or their life are included. This is being built as an
invaluable library of knowledge for you to access and add to at any time.

Founding Members have the additional opportunity of defining the

direction of learning at each XL Circle, as XL Leaders.

8. XL Opportunities Exchange
The Opportunities Exchange that takes place at every Wealth Dynamics
Experience is an eye-opening example of how flow can be created when
we focus on what we have to give instead of what we need to get. Every
XL Circle shares opportunities globally through the XL Opportunities
Exchange. Each opportunity is categorised, tagged and can be
commented on.

Founding Members can take advantage of Opportunities that are only

open to Founding Members, restricted when the offeror seeks a high
level of commitment, trust and connection within the opportunity.

9. XL Success Stories
Rather than having theoretical examples of applied learning and
opportunities, within XL Nation we share living examples and success
stories. Every XL Circle shares successes each month that are
categorised, tagged, comment on and as they are always of XL Citizens,
you can connect to open new opportunities.

Founding Members have the additional privilege of being eligible for the
annual Extraordinary Lives Award. All nominees are voted in by XL
Citizens for their story from the last year, and are then interviewed and
featured, with the global winner voted in.

XL Nation Plan Page 18

10. Coaching Certification
Coaching has always been an important part of XL. In 2009, XL Nation
will be providing coaching certification in life coaching and wealth
coaching as online modules, which means you can access them from
anywhere to build your skills at mentoring others. All XL Citizens must
also have a Mentor, who will be responsible for ensuring that Citizen is
using XL Nation effectively.

Founding Members have the opportunity to step up not only as XL

Citizen Mentors, but XL Circle Mentors, which means you are supported
to support groups in setting up effective flow and trust within their XL
Circle. As many XL Founding Members are successful coaches, other
opportunities inevitably arise from those who step up and create a name
for themselves in their ability to coach.

Privileges that create a river for ‘Giving Back’

Effective Giving isn’t all about charity. It’s about knowing that when we have stepped to a higher
altitude we are in a position to create flow effectively by what we can pass on sustainably. Our
knowledge, connections, skills and leadership are all values that, when shared, increase and do not
decrease in value. Here’s the ways that XL Nation enables XL Citizens and XL Founding Members to
give back:

11. Leadership
In the first seven years of XL, without exception it was always the XL
Founding Members who stepped into leadership positions who received
– as well as delivered – the most value. In XL Nation, the opportunities to
give back as a leader are boundless: Every XL Circle has seven
leadership positions, and every program whether for a profit-making
project or a charity-related project has leadership teams. That means
that regardless of where you live or who you are, you have an automatic
opportunity to play a part in World Wide Wealth.

Founding Members can take on state leadership within XL Circles, and

you can step up as City, Country or Global Leaders, which are elected in
each year at the Bali Convention. This gives you the opportunity to play
at the highest level.

12. Speakers & Trainers

The mix of real-world interaction and online-information, organised in
modules around the Wealth Dynamics system, enables every speaker,
trainer and coach to package your own content to be easily used in XL
Circles. This gives us a virtual university of learning, where we all grow
based on the strength of content rather than the marketing of any
particular personality. Every XL Citizen can contribute into this pool and
we can all see what content and value creates greatest attraction.

Founding Members have the additional opportunity of their work being

highlighted, whether through the extraordinary lives awards, global
events or through the circles they launch around their area of interest
and expertise.

XL Nation Plan Page 19

13. XL Marketplace
In 2009, XL is developing the XL Infinity Marketplace, where all XL
Citizens can deposit $2,000 of value at a $1,000 price point for other XL
Citizens (so we all benefit from 2 for the price of 1) in the form of
products and services – the price and value of which is agreed with your
circle. This gives us an immediate focus on what we have of value to
offer, and once that is in the market, we have triple the price of
citizenship at our disposal to spend on the products and services of our
fellow citizens. This marketplace will grow to encompass all services we
need to build our enterprises effectively.

Founding Members have the additional privilege of entering this

marketplace by depositing $20,000 of value at a $10,000 price point. This
gives Founding Members greater spending power and value delivery
from the beginning, and the revenue in and savings received both equal
or exceed the total cost of XL Founding Membership.

14. Measurable Giving

Every XL Circle measures and reports on their giving at each meeting, in
cash donation, time given and resources given. These are combined in
XL World to give us a running total of the total giving within XL Nation,
together with highlighted causes that are being supported. This gives us
all measures to focus at and targets to aim for and exceed while
supporting each other.

Founding Members have the additional opportunity of creating circles

around their particular cause, and to introduce those causes at a city,
country and global level through the Arc, Forum and Senate sessions.

15. Effective Giving Programmes

XL set up the XL Social Enterprise Accreditation Programme to certify
social enterprises who were committed to donating at least 10% of profits
to a nominated cause. In the last seven years, many other programmes
have also been established within XL Nation that give you an opportunity
to give effectively without having to re-create the wheel. When joining XL
Nation, you are joining a plumbing system of flow, where you have to
simply find the best fit to plug in. You do that through showing up,
stepping up and giving back.

Many XL Members would argue that the intangible benefits that they have receive exceed the tangible
benefits presented. However, listing out these fifteen tangible benefits paints the picture of what XL
Nation is: A unique combination of real world interaction and virtual world integration towards personal
and global transformation.

“Now that I’ve settled into my circles, and I’ve

been part of XL Nation for three months, I’m
getting a number of stamps in my XL Passport.
I’ve learned that I should contribute something of
value into the XL Bank. It’s like a barter with XL
dollars. I’m contributing my reiki attunement. That
means when an XL Citizen takes one, they get a
second for a friend. It’s been vetted by my circle (If
my circle can’t see the value in it themselves, it
doesn’t get into the Global Bank).”

“I’m now also using the XL Wiki as I’ve learned I’m a Yellow Trader, which means I’ve got steps I need
to take to move effectively from being a sole trader to having a strong team to support me. Very useful
and the resources in the Yellow Trader zone that XL Citizens and XL Leaders have posted is
phenomenal. Looking forward to moving to the Green zone.”

XL Nation Plan Page 21

“It’s been six month and my circle says it’s time to step up. They are keeping me on my toes. A circle
michelle clarke member was voted out for non-attendance so they are serious about personal responsibility. I’m doing
Sep 24, 11:54 AM two things. First, I’m standing for the0Circle Leader position in my circle, and second, I’m seconding a
Deleted: President Elect project that my trader circle has submitted to create a new global trading market for XL Citizens.”
michelle clarke
Sep 24, 11:54 AM “It turns out that every month the Circle Leaders around the world vote on a whole series of projects
Added Text that grow the infrastructure of XL Nation. So anyone with a good idea and the right level of support
can submit their project which, if voted through, becomes part of the XL infrastructure at first a country
and then a global level. A bit like EBS in real life. Talking of which, I’m attending the next EBS and XL
National Day.”

“It’s been a year and I just attended the XL National Day. It was an eye opener to see the entire global
leadership team elected in for the next year. It was inspiring to see the many leaders I’ve seen online
showcase the different programs they are leading. In the opportunities exchange I saw one of the
Founding Members find five cities to run a global tour with some guy called Roger Hamilton
speaking.”

“Most inspiring was the measure of giving for World Wide Wealth, which has just topped $100 million.
I like that I have dual citizenship: One nation where I grew up and the other that I can grow. As a
Circle Leader I’m now part of the XL Forum and get to review projects with many other XL Leaders
from around the world. I’m now looking to buy a Founding Membership which will give me a seat in
the XL Senate, and I then will have a say in our constitution, which is the heart of who we are.”

The Ten Step Tour of XL Nation

Step 1: Joining the garden

In XL 1.0, to be part of the tree as an XL Life Member you needed to afford $5,000 to $10,000, but
anyone could join. In XL2.0, to step into the garden as an XL Citizen
the qualification is not whether you can afford it, but whether you can
add value. The cost is S$360 each year but you need to be nominated
in by an existing member. That means we can scale up without
needing sales breakfasts and salesmanship, and we don‟t have
anyone joining just to get, but everyone joining because they want to
give.

With scalability, we will be seeing thousands join each month instead

of hundreds. New XL Citizens join at www.xlnation.org and when they
join they give their sponsors email. The chain ensures sponsors
confirm new citizens and that their orientation is carried through.
Applicants can also join and wait for a sponsor. This means we will see
thousands join a wait list where XL Citizens get to choose who they
want to sponsor in as XL Citizens. Only when there is a hand to hold,
will there be a place to play.

On joining, instead of receiving a big fat pack of expensive printed

material, an XL Citizen does their Wealth Dynamics Profile and gets
access to XL World. Together with their sponsor, they will then have
easy access to all the help guides to every step of their citizenship. This means simple guides, videos,
tutorials to every element of XL Nation from using Wealth Dynamics to sharing opportunities to joining
XL Circles, etc. Everything available at the touch of a button on your mobile phone, and updated in a
wiki format that is constantly added to and enhanced by XL Nation Founding Members.

This first step clears our primary bottleneck – our high barrier to entry to join (in cost, time, opportunity
and limited sales resources). This could not have been possible seven years ago when we did not
have a global presence, when we did not have online social media and when we did not have the
global momentum towards change that we have today. We now have the reach, the means and the
will to enable us to be connecting not thousands but millions and that is the power of step one.

XL Nation Plan Page 22

Step 2: Learning to play
In XL 1.0, once a member joined, it was up to the City Leader to orientate
them. In XL2.0, every citizen must have a sponsor (who they will know
and trust) and it is that sponsor who will make sure they are up to speed.
This means we will not face the danger of disconnection the moment they
join. XL Citizens will take ownership for ensuring their friends are up to
speed on Wealth Dynamics, Effective Giving and the way we play.

By making the sponsor accountable for the value a new citizen receives,
we have a self-regulating quality control mechanism. By ensuring that all
XL Citizens are equipped with the right videos, audios and guide – all
available online – we are not dependent on the presentation skills of the
few. We are only dependent on the will of the many. This accountability
gives scalability to ownership on the experience of new Citizens,
regardless of the number of new Citizens joining each day.

In XL 1.0, new Members were asked to attend a Power-Up or Momentum.

If they didn‟t they would soon become disconnected. In XL2.0, every
michelle clarke Citizen MUST be part of an XL Circle and show up at least 60% of the
Sep 24, 11:56 AM time, or they0may be asked to leave. XL Circles may meet monthly, bi-
Deleted: are monthly or quarterly. An XL Circle is like a Power-Up, but is no longer just
michelle clarke one per city with the City Leader running it. Every XL Circle has a focus –
Sep 24, 11:56 AM whether by location, industry, interest, profession, passion or purpose.
Added Text And no one gets into one that is not fully relevant to themselves. .

Step 3: Circles: A place of belonging

After seven years in this community, there is no greater truth that I have
found than that: The XL Members who got the most value found a group they
loved being with and that was relevant to their lives. Regardless of what else
was delivered to them, these two things were worth the entire value of
membership.

The XL Members who got the least value could not find a group they loved
being with and that was relevant to their lives. No matter how much extra value
we tried to deliver, without these two things there could never be enough. .

Every XL Circle carries the DNA of XL, which is the XL Environment – the
playground we play in. That means that EVERY time we meet we have a
structure which is: FUN INSPIRING ACTION FOCUSED Every time we meet as
a cell within the whole, we add value to XL and XL adds value to us. We
leverage XL, and XL leverages us. We achieve wealth, and XL achieves World
Wide Wealth. .

Step 4: From Circles to Streams

In XL1.0 we asked Country and City Leaders to share their successes, learning, opportunities with the
wider XL community with limited success. In XL2.0, this sharing becomes an essential part of the
process. Imagine a WDE without opportunity knocks. Imagine an EBS without the connected teams
and mentoring. The power of XL is in the shared resources. In XL2.0, every circle will be a conduit to
flow, and built into the process is the guaranteed sharing of resources between circles.

michelle clarke Step 6: Shared R.O.I.

Sep 24, 11:58 AM
Added Text R.O.I. stands for Resources, Opportunities and Information. In
XL1.0, these were all channeled and transmitted centrally. In XL2.o,
these will have millions of inputs and outputs. We‟ve moved from the
river to rain, and we are the raindrops. XL Nation will have the most
comprehensive and organised orchestration of resources which is
tagged, coded and categorised using Wealth Dynamics.

XL Citizens can find the most useful resources through a global circle
of trust - not of what people look at but what people act upon. This is
a massive paradigm shift. For example, on the Internet, how do you
know which is the best video on leadership? In XL World you will be
able to find rated videos of learning based on which has been used
by the most circles, together with postings of exactly how Citizens
utilised the learning to deliver results.
The same goes for opportunities, connections, challenges and
success stories. What we are creating is a shared library of APPLIED
knowledge, which links us to the resources and opportunities for us
to also accelerate our own journey. While this was a vision in XL1.0,
now XL2.0 has a structure to ensure we build it collectively.

This will enable speakers and thought leaders to present at XL Circles and know their learning will be
organised, shared globally, rated and categorised. It will enable entrepreneurs to share opportunities
and connections in a structured way, so we all find what we need when we need it. It will allow us all
to add content for global use, finding its ways into circles in schools, villages and entire networks
within XL Nation.

XL Nation Plan Page 24

Step 7: Double Everything
XL Circles also allow us to create a powerful trading system within XL in a
way that the input of individuals never can. Microfinance works best when in
circles of trust, and the XL Infinity Market works in the same way. To me, this
is one of the most powerful parts of XL Nation. Each of us offers in $10,000
of value that is then offered to other Citizens at $2 of value for every $1 of
price. Most barter systems break down because everyone overprices what
they offer. In the XL Infinity Market, not only do we receive double the value,
but anything offered must already have been bought at market price from
someone within the circle.

In XL1.0, many members remained perplexed as to how to find value to

offer. In XL2.0, the XL Infinity Market forces each circle to focus on each
Citizen to find something that can be monetized and added to the bank. As
Citizens, each of us can step into XL Nation and immediately get all the help
we need – from setting up our company, getting a web site, finding support,
buying in resources and advice. We don‟t need money to get started. We
simply need clarity on what we are adding of value. Step 7 sets us apart
from every other nation. We don‟t enter it naked and hungry. We enter it full.

Step 8: Now We’re

Talking!
In XL1.0, we were a team of presenters. If you missed the talk,
you missed the value. In XL2.0, we will grow a team of
producers. The monthly online momentums will become
weekly and eventually daily. They will be live, from Cities and
Countries around the world. We will be able to vote on who we
want and in time our numbers will be attractive to any speaker
or leader. This technology did not exist a year ago. Now it
does and we intend to use it.

The combination of Circles that meet regularly, of access to

world class speakers and to the technology to connect the two
live and interactive give us a unique global environment that
no other network has mastered.

We have already had the experience of running ustream talks

globally, with several hundred people. It is only a matter of
time before this goes into the thousands. Using XL World and
the online calendar, Circles can easily co-ordinate the
audience for global momentums with world leaders at a scale
that XL1.0 could not achieve.

Step 9: A True Global Democracy

In XL1.0 we operated, like most companies, as a
monarchy. At the global, country and city levels. In
XL2.0, using online voting software, we are creating
the first true global democracy without the need for
centralised leadership.

Every month, our online live Forum Sessions will be

the meeting point for making decisions on changes
and additions to the structure, to the constitution and

XL Nation Plan Page 25

to the programs and projects endorsed at a global level.

A True Global Democracy Every Circle will have a leadership that is voted in each year. Every City
and Country will have a leader to be the representative for all the circles in the City and Country,
voted in each year by the Circle Leaders.

Leadership of the Arcs (up to 576 Citizens) and the Sea (global team) will also be elected in each year
by the Forum and Senate respectively. In short, no one will outstay their welcome, and no position will
be a block to flow.

Step 10: Guardians of the Light

At the beginning of XL1.o there were two of us. The first US Congress had 26 Senators in
Washington. We begin XL2.o with 3,200 Founding Members around the World. No global body –
whether the UN, IMF, World Bank, has a globally elected leadership with a division of power
necessary within every democracy.

In XL Nation, the Senate provides a balance of power to the Forum. The role of the Senate is to hold
XL Nation not to the greater good, but the greatest good: The Truth from which flows Trust and Trade.

The Forum‟s focus is Trust and Trade. The Forum meets monthly online and is made up of the Circle
Leader and Circle Guardian of each Circle. The Senate‟s focus is Truth: Whether the actions of the
Forum align with our values and mission.

The Senate has veto power over Forum votes. The Senate meets monthly online and is made up of
the Founding Members. In XL1.0 there were no checks and balances at any leadership level. In
XL2.0, we have built a revolutionary structure that can scale to a Forum of thousands, while remaining
true.

The Seven Year History of XL Results Foundation

How did we get here?

In 2002, when Roger and Dave launched XL Results Foundation, their vision was a way to achieve
the UN Millennium Development Goals without needing to rely on governments or other institutions –
That as entrepreneurs we were best placed to unlock our own personal flow and to collectively unlock
global flow. What if there were millions who felt the same as us around the world? What if we could
share our resources and our expertise? That’s where we began.

2002: The Beginning

XL Results Foundation and XL Life Membership were launched in Singapore (originally as CE). Like
selling plots in a new land, the early members saw themselves as stakeholders who eventually would
create new ways to generate income and XLRF itself would evolve from selling Life Memberships to
receiving income from the many projects we as citizens played in the playground.

Dave contributed his coaching knowledge, and Roger contributed entrepreneurial knowledge. It was a
new world: people had not heard of social enterprise. Branson, Buffett were yet to give so publicly.

2003: Country Growth

The next step was country licenses, who hosted XL breakfasts and looked after their countries. Dave
and Roger became increasingly busy, with momentums, breakfasts, coaching weekends and major
events. As they were not taking any dividends from XLRF, they set up other companies to generate
income as we grew – such as XL Events, Wealth Dynamics and XL Institute. By the end of the year,
we were running events in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and India.

2004: Wealth Dynamics

As we grew, word spread. Our central office began taking enquiries from further afield. The Wealth
Dynamics Experience became the meeting point for those interested in what we were doing to see it
first hand. We opened in Thailand, Indonesia and New Zealand – each with Country licenses
introducing WD and XL through the WD experience.

XL Magazine was launched, and our offices grew to support the network. As they were still the main
deliverers of the events, Dave and Roger began to seek other speakers who could run the
momentums, power-ups and coaching.

2005: XL2020 Vision

By our third year, our Country Leader meetings began in Bali. We opened XL Vision Villas. We
launched in Australia, UK, and began growing to multiple cities. Our schedules were packed and we
needed to multiply.

After the Tsunami, giving became global. This was the year Roger wrote XL2020. It was the year we
created our first XL Member Handbook and the slogan ‘show up, step up, give back’. XL had grown to
so many locations, it was the year we both found that the more places we were, the more places that
we were not.

2006: Cities Launch

XL Nation Plan Page 27

In our fourth year we introduced City leaders to lead XL Members in each city. Groups grew across
Australia, New Zealand, Asia , Europe. USA launched. We had a model for our events where new
cities opened every month. I was at the opening of each city and was now on the road most weeks of
the year.

It was the year we earnestly put in plan the next phase of growth, where we would enable our leaders
to introduce their own projects, and enterprises like XL Café, XL Preschools and WD Institute were
born from this opening, with XL Members stepping up to lead.

2007: The Turning

By the beginning of 2007, we were generating $1m each month in revenues from members joining
and over $100k in surplus each month. By mid-year, we had over $2m in reserves. The number of XL
Members who had stepped into leadership positions had exploded in number . Our service and
systems could not keep up.

Singapore became our bottleneck and we were buckling under the growth. Roger was down to one
day a month in Singapore and on the road the rest of the month. It was clear that we were not moving
fast enough or serving well enough to manage our growth. During the year we had three different
General Managers leading XLRF. We had new teams launching XL Café, XL Preschool, WD Institute,
XL Property, XL Finance and many other non-XL companies that XL Members launched between
themselves.

At our Leader meetings, it was decided we would replicate the head office in Singapore with one in
London and one in USA. We began training XL speakers to deliver breakfasts and support the
leaders. Our overheads escalated dramatically to support the projected growth we collectively
anticipated. Through the year, we had record attendances at events, success stories in XL Magazine
and the Extraordinary Lives award attracted many to join XL. But the new businesses were not
performing and neither was our multiple speakers in generating the revenues we expected.

Despite having many Country and City Leaders prepared to run events, by the end of 2007 it was
clear that the plant had outgrown the pot. Without the expected revenues from new channels to
support their growth, we reached a bottleneck where Roger continued to be the main source of
revenue for all cities. If he was not there, there was no revenues to support their costs.

2008: The Crisis

From 2002 to 2007, XL had profitable growth across all companies and reached over $1 million in
profit on $13 million in revenues in 2007. We entered 2008 with six profitable years of growth, a global
leadership team of country licenses supporting our life members, and a range of successful products
and events under the Wealth Dynamics and Roger Hamilton brand. We were aware we had an
inadequate revenue model, systems and management to support our projected growth and saw this
as the major priority to address in 2008. However 2008 saw an unraveling of all this good work as we
took on overhead and increased our commission structures in a bid to support our local country and
city leaders and empower them to deliver a local field sales model.

Three Deciding Factors

What began as a year with a projected $1.5 million in profit on $15 million in revenues ended with a
major loss of over $2 million on $7 million in revenues. While the crisis was the pivotal factor at the
end of the year, in hindsight there were three factors that each contributed to the need to radically
change the model in 2009.

1. Revenue Performance
Our sales model for the first seven years was largely based on Roger selling memberships and
products on tour, and by 2007 he was on the road most of the year. A strategy of enlisting more
speakers to replicate Roger’s results in early 2007 failed, with a series of unprofitable tours. However,

XL Nation Plan Page 28

a second simpler strategy of one-to-one sales through City and Country Leaders (field sales)
combined with the launch of a lower cost Circle Membership was developed.

The two leadership meetings in March and October focused on training and engaging our global
leadership on this model, but sales failed to achieve 10% of target due to a lack of field sales activity
at country and city level (conversion rates were high but quantity of meetings was very low). This was
compounded by a drop in collections of recurring payments as the crisis hit, leading to reduced cash
collections in the last quarter of over 90%.

As we moved into 2009, we saw many of the established events companies around the world fail. The
old model of running high cost tours and events covered by revenues at the events was no longer
working in the same way it had. This meant Roger’s events also suffered from lower attendances and
tours were no longer sustainable. Our focus as we have moved to a more sustainable model in XL
Nation (Where we don’t incur the high cost of travel and venues and leverage local community and
global technology more effectively), has been to generate content on wealth creation and media that
can be easily distributed without the cost of the event model or the reliance on local sales teams.

2. Accounts Infrastructure
Through to 2008, the accounts team across all companies was centralized and managed by our CFO,
Margaret Loh. Much of this was manual accounts which did not scale with our increased volumes.
Our new software system was intended to manage our order book and commissions by 2008.
However, delays in this coupled with a dramatic increase in complexity of commission structures led
to an inability for the accounts team to manage the workload. A two year project to build a new system
with Platform Interactive in Australia was a costly project which ultimately did not deliver the promised
result and was finally abandoned in 2008.

In April 2008 the entire accounts team resigned and we recruited a new CFO, Jennifer Loh as well as
a new accounting team in Bali in October. The transition and new team were not successful. In 2009
we had to reconstruct our entire 2008 accounts as the integrity of data had been lost through the
transition of the accounts team to Bali in November (where the files and server containing all details
was stuck in Surabaya for three months through to February 2009) and the transition of the accounts
from MSoft to Quickbooks (which was mismanaged, leading to a loss in accurate balances and
histories on all our debtors and creditors and a chronic inability to collect or pay with any level of
accuracy).

It has taken the first six months of 2009 to get back and current with our monthly reporting and be in a
position to submit our 2008 accounts for audit. The centralized accounting also led to a central
collections process which led to large intercompany amounts due from XL RF to XL Events, XL
Finance and XL Group. This has led to XL RF having related companies as its largest creditors.

By February we decentralized the accounting function, and divided management of all financials and
cash management to the respective GMs in each company, along with managing sales, profitability,
debtors and creditors. By March our CFO, Jennifer Koh, was replaced with XL Group GM, Teresa
Stott. By April we had scoped a full reconstruction plan. By June we had made sufficient progress to
provide preliminary financials in an investor update. By July we had current accounts. By mid-August
we had achieved our goal of auditable 2008 accounts.

3. Management Team
We began the year with a strategy to support our international growth with strong central support. This
led to an increase in overhead as we invested in centralized management, a global marketing team,
and centralized finance team. We also invested a significant amount in our central software platform
to manage our multiple products and leadership teams. This increased overhead compounded the
pressure on cash flow in the last quarter of 2008 as cash collections dropped.

XL Nation Plan Page 29

Through to October 2008, XL Group of Companies had a management team led by: CEO, Ian
Grundy; CFO, Jennifer Koh; Chairman, Roger Hamilton; and Head of Investor Relations, Dave
Rogers. Total monthly overheads were over S$800,000 with a central team of over 40 staff and
country leaders earning between 25% and 45% on all sales, new and recurring. Over 90% of sales
were still being generated by Roger, and he was on tour or running major events in 46 of the 52
weeks of 2008.

The main focus of the management team and country leaders in 2008 was to replace this one-man-
sales model with a global field sales model. By October, it was clear that this model was not taking off
and cash reserves were no longer sufficient to give any more than two months operating capital. In
October, we cut the central team by more than 70%, the marketing and media departments were
closed, the contract with our systems developer was cut, and we moved out of our central office. At
that point our sales model still remained the same – with Roger on the road.

By December, we had reorganized from the central head office leadership (who had all now left or
were in the process of leaving) into individual company leadership. By January the Global Recession
had resulted in a sales drop and event cancellations of over 90%, and a similar drop in collections. A
series of meeting with the country and city leaders from February to April transitioned XL Group to
structure with:

XL Results Foundation General Manager, Michelle Clarke; XL Events General Manager, Darshana
Shah, Wealth Dynamics General Manager, Daniel Priestley; XL Vision Villas General Manager,
Wayan Suarma, each managing their respective companies; XL Group General Manager, Teresa
Stott, managing the company General Managers and reconstructing the accounts; XL Group
Chairman, Roger Hamilton, building the new products and revenue streams to replace the old; XL
Group Head of Investor Relations, Dave Rogers, managing communications with XL Group, XL
Finance, XL Vision Villas depositors and investors.

Some Questions
In early 2009, as we looked at the level of activity and our central structure that had served us so well
in the early days, but that had now become our bottlenecks, and we looked at our leadership
structure, which was making it impossible for new talent to step up effectively, the team asked
themselves some important questions.

1. What if the XL Head Office didn’t exist?

2. What if all the current XL Leaders didn’t exist?
3. Was the community strong enough already to regroup?
4. Would they set up a central structure to take all payments and provide all service?
5. Or would they take payment locally? Would they share some resources globally? Would they
elect their leaders fairly?

Some Answers
By reassessing everything from first principles, by the beginning of 2009 it was clear we had two
options:

1. Keep running the old model, with me as the main income generator, with low overheads and
with a limit to our growth– effectively putting the promise of XL2020 out of our reach (and with
a question mark on how deep we would have to dig to get through the crisis).

XL Nation Plan Page 30

2. Use the crisis as our greatest opportunity. Entirely turn things on their head and see our
community as the greatest asset we have to achieve XL2020. Get us connected, and
empowered to lead from the bottom up with a new model for our time.

2008: End of the Old

In November, we disbanded the majority of the Singapore team, and opened XL World. We cut our
overheads down to a minimum to give us time to regroup. We began the conversation on a new way
forward that would:

1. Enable us to achieve XL2020 by going from thousands to millions

2. Give us all super-simple ways to show up, step up and give back
3. Harness the power of the community as trustees of this new nation, acknowledging and
recognising our Founding Members for stepping up early into the vision.

In 2009, we have been winding down XL Results Foundation while establishing XL Nation. This has
provided us with a clear division between XL Nation – our community towards World Wide Wealth led
by the community, and XL Group – the group that has funded the growth of XL Results Foundation
and that now is focused at becoming a healthy social enterprise through product and event delivery.

2009: The Financials

Data from our September XL Group Investors Report shows that over the last nine months we have
written off $1,276,606 in unrecoverable debts from defaulted memberships, where the members were
no longer able to pay for their memberships. We have also written off inter-company debt of
$985,920. This is money owed from XL Results Foundation to the various XL companies.

On the basis of pre-audit preliminary results, in 2008 the group companies made a loss of $2,995,000
on revenues of $8,670,000. This includes results from XL Finance, which is still owed $1,197,181
from XL Results Foundation.

Presently, XL Results Foundation has 24 outstanding creditors over $4,000 of which seven are related
companies who make up over 90% of the amounts due. With the exception of XL Finance, the
amounts due can be covered by the outstanding debtors that XL Results Foundation continues to
collect on – although these receivables are spread over the next four years. We are in contact with all
creditors and are in the process of a managed wind-down which will leave XL Results Foundation with
a zero balance sheet.

The impact of the losses in XL Results Foundation has been born directly by the related companies –
particularly Wealth Dynamics, XL Events, XL Group and XL Finance – and by the shareholders,
Roger and Dave. The size of this impact, which exceeds $3 million, is reported in the XL Group
Investors Report and reflected in the 2008 Financials, to be published after submission.

XL Group’s plan is to continue the vision of XL2020 and the growth of the XL community through XL
Nation, to wind down XL Results Foundation, to enter 2010 with all financial obligations met through
repayment or agreed payment plans with a structure and strategy in place to return XL Group to
profitability in 2010.

Month by Month Progress

XL Nation’s rapid growth can be broken down month by month to give an idea of how much has
changed over seven months. There has been progress along with internal and external challenges in
both XL Results Foundation and XL Nation over this time and we’ve documented it all below to give
us a clear picture of our current position.

XL Nation Plan Page 32

February
XL Nation: By February 2009, with costs exceeding revenues on all tours and events, Roger,
Michelle and the team met with many of our leaders and mentors during the EBS Masters, and
discussed the principles of XL Nation. Over the month, global ustream calls were held with all leaders
and members (These calls were recorded and are available on XL World). We also connected directly
with each country leader and ran updates on our Pachamama tour, explaining the principles of XL
Nation and seeking the support of our leadership.

XL Results Foundation: Teresa Stott joined as General Manager of XL Group and took over the
responsibilities of CFO, Jennifer Koh. We divided P&L and cash flow responsibility from the central
accounting function to each company General Manager, and began the task of reconstructing the
infrastructure of the company while Roger worked on establishing a new business model through high
value products and events to replace the tour and membership model.

March
XL Nation: By March 2009, we had established a Transformation Team, led by Michelle Clarke,
Jeanette Jifkins and Tracey Stallard. Their first focus was on the XL National Day, which took place on
March 31st with over 100 XL Members in attendance in Bali. The first XL Nation Circle was launched
at the Bali Leaders Meet prior to XL National Day, when all the current country and city leaders who
attended were updated on XL Nation and joined the Transformation Circle. This Circle has since
propagated to over fifty Circles in XL Nation.

XL Results Foundation: XL Events ran the Entrepreneur Business School and Wealth
Dynamics began its leadership under Marcus Ubl and Daniel Priestley. The decision was made to
write-off all money owing from XL Results Foundation to the related XL companies. XL Results
Foundation funded the launch of XL Nation, with the event costs, operational salaries and setting up
of the accounts.

April
XL Nation: By April 2009, the Transformation Team began to operate under their own agenda,
setting a schedule for the growth of circles and citizens.

XL Results Foundation: XL Events ran the Wealth Dynamics Weekend in London and Roger
developed the Wealth Spectrum and Wealth Lighthouse as a learning structure to complement Wealth
Dynamics and support the creation of tools for entrepreneurs. The XL team moved into new offices
and made progress in the consolidation of the systems and finances. The team also established a
strong presence for XL Nation online, with the XL Nation Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Ustream
accounts, launch of the XL Nation site and a revamp of XL World.

May
XL Nation: By May 2009, there had been some changes to the Transformation Team, and progress
was still to be made on incorporation, communication and systems. The Senate and Forum meetings
had begun and the number of circles was growing steadily, although all monitoring was still taking
place manually.

XL Results Foundation: XL Events ran the Wealth Dynamics Weekend in Australia and Roger
was meeting with XL Members in England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to share the
changes and answer questions. The XL team continued to make progress on the financial
reconstruction. Training videos for XL Nation were created and the XL Founding Member guide was
updated as an online resource.
June

XL Nation Plan Page 33

XL Nation: By June 2009, the decision was made to hold a week planning session in July with the
XL Nation Transformation Team to gain common agreement on the plan forward. While the number of
circles had continued to grow, there was an increased demand from a group of the XL Members for
more information and complaints on transparency or lack of communication. This became a challenge
for Circle Leaders seeking direction or answers that they were not equipped to handle.

XL Results Foundation: By June there was enough clarity on our financials and performance to
hold an Investor meeting, and to commit to having 2008 accounts ready for submission by August.
Marcus and Dan travelled to Australia to finalise planning for the launch of Wealth Dynamics Central
and Roger worked on the new products for launch in the fourth quarter, including creation of the
Wealth Spectrum test, Wealth Dynamics Power Packs and new events to be run by presenters.

July

XL Nation: In July 2009, the transformation team met for a week in Bali. The week delivered clarity
and unity on the way forward, and the team left with three key deliverables: The Blaze team was
focused on the growth plan for circles and citizens, the Tempo team was focused at communicating
with and serving all XL Founding Members, and the Steel team was focused at the PIXLs, scoreboard
and compliance matters for the growth of XL Nation.

XL Results Foundation: In July the XL and WD teams came together in Bali for a week to
create a focused roll-out plan with the new sales models. By now we had written off a far greater
amount from our receivables than expected, and it was clear for the first time that XL Results
Foundation would not be in a position to trade itself out of its position. We took advice on the different
alternatives that would allow us to move forward while honouring our past commitments.

August
XL Nation: After the Bali Meet, Martin Jimmink was invited to join the Transformation Team as
Chairman. In August 2009, the XL Nation account had accumulated $9,000 but none of this had been
allocated yet pending a decision on signing authority within the Transformation Team. Roger proposed
a model by which costs could be covered by sponsorship prior to resolution by the transformation
team on signing authority and budgets.

XL Results Foundation: At the WD Masters program in Bali, Roger met with the mentors,
Martin and Dave to discuss the progress to date and seek direction on an effective way forward to
ensure that XL Nation had a solid plan of action, and XL Results Foundation could be wound down
effectively. The result has been a move to the current status below, which leads to our plan to move
forward collectively and effectively towards the Bali Convention.

Now
The action plan below takes into account the background of both XL Nation and XL Results
Foundation, where we have been, where we are, and where we aim to be.

The Current Status of the Transition

Three Developments
The three most significant developments over the last two months have been:

1. Completion of Pre-audit Accounts: Completion for all XL companies including XL

Finance and XL Results Foundation, with accounts being submitted to auditors Mid August .

2. Progress towards an XL Group Business Model: With the loss of revenues from
the cessation of Life Membership sales, it has taken time to establish a new revenue model to
give certainty to current XL stakeholders on a positive path forward for XL Group.

3. XL Nation Team: XL Nation has established a momentum and leadership increasingly

separate from the operations of XL Group, with 50 circles launched, an expanded
Transformation Team and the appointment of a Chairman, Martin Jimmink.

Three Challenges
There are also three main challenges that have dogged our progress in the growth of XL Nation:

1. Completion of XL Results Foundation: The lack of clean numbers and a new,

proven revenue model has meant that we have had a number of creditors and our
stakeholders waiting for completion of the old model. While the commitment has always been
publicly stated from the outset that we will honour our commitments and work with each
individual to a mutually agreeable outcome – and we have continued to communicate with the
various stakeholders, there remains a lack of finality. This has propagated outside rumours
about the financial health and even integrity of XL Results Foundation.

2. Lack of Communication: While the pioneering group of XL Members and XL Leaders

have kept up with the pace of communication and change in the last six months, a large
portion of our membership have not seen all the information, and perceive this as an absence
of communication and transparency. This has been a challenge that we have tackled by
continuing to communicate in various channels. However, the discontinuity in our various
communications teams within the Transformation Team means that, with the exception of the
XL Newsletters and XL Awards work by Jo, ongoing communication from any perceived top
leadership has been lacking and is being commented on.

3. Executive Team: While each of the sub-teams in the transformation team have continued
working on their tasks, an acknowledge leadership (or leadership team) for them to report to
with a clear plan and clear accountability for keeping XL Nation growing and flowing is
currently absent. This is leading to vital breakdowns in the smooth operations of XL Nation
and preventing any of the scheduled development work from being carried out.

The 100 Day Plan focuses on the upcoming Bali Convention on 13th October as a milestone for the
completion of the foundations of XL Nation. It includes ten priorities in context of the current status of
the transition.

XL Nation Plan Page 35

Our 100 Day Action Plan
Objective
The objective over the next 100 days (which takes us to the end of December), is to have in place all
the critical components of XL Nation to enable it to be scalable and sustainable. These fit into ten
priorities which, with the background of the rest of this plan, can now be put into context. Each of
these priorities has a leader and an interim milestone to reach by the Bali Convention on October 13th,
which is four weeks away.

<<Note: These priorities and owners are my proposal and here for discussion – Roger>>

Priority #1: Leadership and plan in place

Owner: Michelle Clarke, Blaze Team
The first priority is in the Transformation Team agreeing on one leader to make executive decisions on
payments required against budget and to ensure we are moving forward effectively. Michelle took on
this role within XL Results Foundation and led well. This could also be an executive team. Either way,
it needs to be put in place first and the plan moving forward completed and endorsed through to end
2010.

In the last month, actions including the incorporation, selecting directors, setting up the paypal
authority, paying for the weekly newsletters, paying for XL World, underwriting the development cost
of the XL Scoreboard have all been taken by Roger simply to keep the set-up and day-to-day
operations of XL Nation going. This would be more appropriate to be in the hands of the leader of the
Transformation Team, where different members of the team can know they can get the direction from
to move forward with their projects.

This leadership team could be reviewed at the Bali Convention but at least it will enable us to get to
that milestone having achieved the milestones in the other priorities.

Priority #2: Budget in place

Priority #5: Smooth new XL Citizen Flow
michelle clarke Owner: Wayne Kranz, Steel Team
Sep 24, 12:04 PM
Added Text The key to ramping up citizen applications is in having a smooth XL Citizen flow, including an effective
landing page, online tour, payment gateway, welcome videos and process to connect to their mentor
and first circle. The current manual process needs to be rationalized and streamlined by the end of
September and launched with a training guide and video to all leaders by the Bali Convention.

The payment gateway also needs to be managed through this transition and changed to the new
banking details once the organisation has been incorporated.

Priority #6: Incorporate in HK with 3 Directors

Owner: Martin Jimmink, Executive Team
The incorporation is currently in process, with Shah having passed the documentation and connection
to the Hong Kong Company Secretary to the three Directors: Martin Jimmink, Charles Buffett and
Katrina McGilchrist. This is a one month process, so with all paperwork submitted this week, we will
have incorporation complete prior to the Bali Convention.

Priority #7: First Round Funding in Place

Owner: Martin Jimmink, Executive Team
Martin has a series of ideas for funding in the early stage of XL Nation. With the low cost base of XL
Nation, income can feasibly come from new citizens and donations to support the operations of XL
Nation as it grows. However, a number of innovative initiatives could add to the early reserves. Setting
up the bank account and agreeing signatories is a step that comes on the heels of incorporation. It
isn’t realistic that we will have an account set up by the Bali Convention, but by the end of October.

Priority #8: Confirm Team and Monthly Routine

Owner: Jeanette Jifkins, Steel Team

XL Nation Plan Page 37

In order to ensure that the day-to-day operations of XL Nation and the development and
implementation of new systems are on schedule, the roles and responsibilities of the team members
in the Transformation Team, a confirmation of who is currently getting paid and who is not, the
milestones each member is committing to and the regular meetings, agendas and minutes for the
Transformation Team need to be documented.

This is an important document for presentation at the Bali Convention, along with the plan for 2010, to
give an indication of what the team has achieved and intends to achieve in the year ahead, and to
give others an idea of what roles are available for them to step up into.

Priority #9: First Phase XL Scoreboard Complete

Owner: Wayne Kranz, Steel Team
The XL Scoreboard, together with the XL Infinity Market, has been put to tender and a contractor has
been selected and cost has been underwritten. The next step is for the development to take place
over the next four weeks, with a beta version available for the Bali Convention.

A summary of the development also needs to be communicated to XL Nation Members so they are
aware of what we are working on and the timeframes.

Priority #10: First XL Bali Convention

Owner: Michelle Clarke, Blaze Team
The Bali Convention will be the annual fixture for XL Leaders to review the year and vote in the plan
for the following year. This is a one day event on the back of the Wealth Dynamics Academy. One
action in September will be to confirm with the attendees of the WDA who will be attending the Bali
Convention, and also to personally invite all current XL Circle Leaders to attend.

The schedule for the day will be confirmed by mid-September together with the presentations and
special announcements. This day should also be available live on ustream and recorded for
distribution. The sponsorship and budget for the day will also be part of the plan.
