Increase In Knowledge

Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

We are living in "The Information Age". Knowledge is exploding in all directions. It is said that 80% percent of the world's total knowledge has been brought forth in the last decade and that 90% percent of all the scientists who have ever lived are alive today.

The growth of medical technology in the past 50 years has exceeded all advances made during the previous 2000 years. Computers that fit into an entire room in the 1970s can now fit in the palm of your hand. One of the greatest increase in knowledge is the internet.

There are approximately 2 Billion Internet users today (Source: Internet World Stats)

There are over 232 million websites There are currently 4.6 billion cell phone users worldwide. (Source: CBS) Prior to the 20th century, the Effiel tower was the tallest building in the world at 275 feet. While engineering has come a long way, the tallest building in the world today is 2,717 feet tall !

What is the difference between technology in the past qnd now?

When technology was invented it was weak. The cars were tough, and couldn't go fast. Communication was mainly by just walking to someones house and saying "Hi" Gaming back then was playing basketball, or passing a ball back and forth. Now you have game consoles and virtual games that detect your every move. Technology has evolved a great deal from that era. Back then, you had to be watching a black and white television to even get a chance to hear music. Or get a Record player. You could also listen to the radio if you could afford one. Now most people have ipods and smartphones. The first computer was big (took up the whole room), heavy and fairly useless since there wasn't really anything you could do on a computer except maybe type. Now, computers are used around the world for an assortment of things. They are even made small and are portable and light. Movies are example of how technology has changed. Because technology has evolved cameras, projectors and the width/length of screens, people now watch movies in high definition.

Increase In Travel
In the past, man either walked, sailed, or rode horses. In the 20th Century saw man came up with automobiles, planes, jets, and spacecraft. In the 17th century that Isaac Newton said, A new mode of travel shall be invented in the last days. Knowledge will be so increased that man will be able to travel at a rate of 50 miles an hour. He was highly criticized for making such a statement. The atheist Voltaire said, Newton thinks that someday men will travel at 50 miles an hour, the poor dotard. The space shuttle today travels at 20,000 mph. Throughout the later chapters of the book of Daniel, several prophecies about the nation of Israel, the antichrist, and the last days are provided in detail. An angel tells Daniel that the events which describe the end times are not for his day. They refer rather to a time in the future when travel and knowledge would increase exponentially. Since the dawn of time, mankind traveled by foot, horse, or sail. Only until the previous century did mankind utilize planes, trains, and automobiles.

There are currently over 5000 airplanes in the skies at any given point in the day. In the 1800s, it took approximately 4 to 6 months to make the perilous journey cross country on the Oregon trail. In our lifetime, it took only 36 hours to travel to the moon. Worldwide & space travel are not a big deal any longer.
